Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1576 1576: The Goal – to Destroy

Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Alexia endured the bitter herbal mixture Goen provided to accelerate her leg's healing, channeling her energy to take tentative steps despite the pain. As Goen stoked a massive fire for cooking, he led her into a nearby cave serving as his vast, icy storage—his "fridge"—filled with frozen fish, meats, and vegetables. Deeper within, Alexia marveled at the enormous ice blocks encasing powerful monsters, where Goen selected a colossal serpent-like water beast for their feast, underscoring his prowess as an apex hunter.

In the distant expanses of the Dark Shore, within one of its numerous towers, echoes of footsteps resounded through the stone passages illuminated solely by sporadic crimson torches.

The fellow clad in lavish attire dashed along the hallway, rushing toward the grand entrance ahead.

Without delay, he flung the doors wide and charged within.

"Miss! I bring crucial information for you!" The fellow declared, then knelt on one knee to show reverence.

The lady poised on the terrace, holding a goblet of wine, gradually pivoted to face him.

"Hmm? What matter demands such urgency that you storm my private quarters? The day has been so pleasant..."

"It might improve further!" The fellow burst out.

"In what way?"

The fellow gestured with his hand.

"Adam Vinter, among the Stellar Phantoms. We've located him, and moreover, he's accompanied by that girl, Alexia."

The latter name held less weight for her than the former, yet it still sparked her curiosity.

"Adam Vinter...? Both possess potential to ascend to Second Rank Phantoms. We must prevent that, indeed. Where does he stand at present?"

The fellow grinned.

"The Primal Lands, central region. He clashed with a formidable beast and now recuperates. We estimate a recovery period ranging from several days to multiple weeks to regain full power."

"Hmm?" The lady arched her brow. "Does he maintain a stronghold there?"

The fellow affirmed with a nod.

"He's lodged in a hunter's dwelling."

"A hunter, understood. Then, it's time to summon the Crown Squad."

The atmosphere in the chamber grew heavier as the fellow's face turned gravely intense.

"Yes. Deploy the fifth team. Liliane ought to manage this assignment. As for that girl, Alexia, allow them to eliminate her, likewise the hunter, but..."

The lady pressed her lips together.

"Instruct her to capture Adam Vinter alive if feasible. Securing a Phantom of his caliber would serve as a potent asset."

The fellow inclined his head, pressing his palm to his chest.

"Yes. I'll ensure they're dispatched on the task without delay!"

He departed, abandoning the lady to contemplate the sprawling metropolis and its towering spires.

'Hunter, eh? If Adam Vinter were more formidable, he could have encountered him, but fortunately, that's not a concern. Excellent.'

...

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the urban expanse, seven individuals trained within a vast facility echoing ancient ruins.

BAM!

The fiery hammer smashed against the electric axe, both warriors clenching their jaws in an effort to overpower the other. Ultimately, they leaped back simultaneously. Their strengths matched perfectly.

The young woman with flowing golden locks and intense azure gaze observed from the sidelines.

Her stare was sharp and unyielding, arms folded across her torso.

She scrutinized each action of theirs, along with the remaining four teammates.

As their captain, after all, such vigilance fell to her.

"Excellent." Liliane inclined her head approvingly. "As second and third in rank, your parity in power ensures the robustness and balance of our lineup."

The warriors acknowledged with nods.

One hoisted his axe onto his shoulder.

"Boss. Missions have been scarce lately. Has Miss taken offense to us once more?"

His companion rested against his hammer and lifted his shoulders dismissively.

"What more could we anticipate? They instructed us to spare some lives and not eradicate all, but... We simply lost control."

"Yeah!" The youth nearby shouted amid his practice bout. "None would dare disrespect you, Lady Liliane!"

Liliane remained unmoved by the remark.

"On this occasion, we'll execute the orders precisely. Belonging to the Crown Squad, it's our responsibility to deliver top performance."

Crash!

As they spoke, the metal barrier swung open with the fellow's arrival.

Every member of the fifth team spun toward him and promptly knelt on one knee. Liliane followed suit.

"Mr. Overseer, what brings the privilege of your presence? Have you a task for us?" Liliane inquired deferentially, head bowed.

The fellow dipped his head in affirmation.

"I've just conferred with Miss. She heeded my words and approved the operation. Depart at once. You may take brief moments for preparations if needed."

Liliane lifted her head gradually.

"We'll fulfill every command, as members of the Crown Squad. Inform us of the objective or entity to pursue."

The rest concurred with nods, keeping their gazes lowered.

The fellow rubbed his trimmed beard.

"Not long past, mere months back, the observers acted hastily and committed a grave error. They attempted to slay a vital Phantom."

Liliane's eyes tightened.

"You sought to seize this Phantom unharmed, yet they ended him?"

Oddly, the fellow denied it with a head shake, astonishing the whole fifth team.

"They failed. That instance saw over a dozen Lords perish."

Liliane's and her comrades' eyes expanded in shock. Lords occasionally fell in combat, but such a mass loss was no trivial affair.

"Was this Phantom truly so mighty?" The red-haired girl whispered.

The youth dismissed with a shrug. "I'm unsure, but it seems unbelievable!"

The fellow elevated his hand, quelling the murmurs.

"Back then, this Phantom remained quite feeble. He hovered at the K3-Level threshold, evolving to the subsequent stage. Two Lords defying our authority aided his flight and endurance.

"Kenward of the Free End and Saegar, a neutral Lord among them. They blocked our efforts to dispatch and terminate this Phantom. They felled over ten of ours. Yet... The true game-changer proved to be Wilfred, the Blighted Wanderer."

Liliane swallowed hard.

Each name he spoke rang familiar to all present.

"B-But... With such mighty figures shielding him, what manner of Phantom is he?"

Her fists tightened.

"Whom must we eradicate for this mission?"

The fellow's gaze sharpened.

"Adam Vinter. He's your mark."
