Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1571 1571: End Bliss
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Ever since Lone Blaze integrated into Adam's abilities, she had been the one managing his threads. Right from the start of their path, she granted him not just the power to wield her flames in combat, but full mastery over them, including shaping them into wings.
Adam appeared to have outgrown the need for such features now.
Wings were unnecessary for him anymore, as he could navigate the skies effortlessly with his energy manipulation, akin to any Phantom at or above his strength.
Or... perhaps not?
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Within the vast array of threads, black, white, and amber varieties emerged.
Those black threads, once a formidable tool within Adam's energy arsenal, now formed the skeleton for a pair of enormous wings spreading out from his back.
The white threads acted as a basic fabric, swiftly linking the far-off pointed tips while carving out jagged gaps along the way.
Into those gaps the amber threads flowed, creating radiant golden formations brimming with might, resembling grand vortices.
[You have received the Highest Bliss.]
[Part of your power has been under pressure for a long time, but it has been able to withstand and evolve.]
[You have gained a new ability from your threads – the End Bliss.]
Though Adam lacked a clear understanding of the events unfolding in his inner realm, he sensed faintly that Lone Blaze had undergone some change.
'Given my current position and the sights before me, does that mean she succeeded? Heh, regardless of your strength, allies who keep pace are essential to advance, aren't they?'
Vaarh swallowed hard while staring at Adam's impressive wings, at those golden vortices that rivaled his azure eye or maybe even exceeded it.
Above all, these wings were crafted from three distinct thread types, each carrying unique traits and surging with vitality.
The amber threads allowed the passage of external energies through them, making those vortices the ultimate danger Vaarh needed to evade no matter what.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The wings of Adam quivered while the vortices shone intensely, drawing every bit of power from the countless threads linked within them.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Vaarh's heartbeat quickened, overwhelmed by sheer terror.
His eyes held no trace of haughtiness or conceit any longer. Survival was the sole thought consuming him.
'I have to flee. I need to get away!' Vaarh screamed in his mind as his legs jerked involuntarily.
Yet, inexplicably, movement eluded him. His legs seemed rooted in place by frost, which wasn't much of an exaggeration.
In dread, Vaarh glanced downward and spotted heavy ice coating his feet. His gaze traced the slender ice trail beneath the snow, leading straight to Alexia's hand.
"Y-YOU!" Vaarh's stare burned with fury toward her.
Alexia merely shrugged her shoulders.
"Sorry, I couldn't let him claim all the glory. I needed to join in. Huh! You shouldn't be glaring at me at this moment!"
After her statement, Vaarh lifted his gaze.
In his vision appeared two wings along with multiple golden vortices vibrating vigorously, charged with power.
"Trying to flee?" Adam tilted his head upward. "Hah, weren't you the one insisting we battle until the finish?!"
Simultaneously, bursts of thick amber energy erupted from Adam's wings, showering upon Vaarh, who lacked the strength to shatter Alexia's ice.
Ray after ray came next. The vortices paused briefly to amass power before firing the subsequent shot.
As a result, Vaarh remained rooted, forced to observe the golden bursts approaching.
No compassion or hatred filled them toward him. They embodied an unstoppable natural force, one that even a veteran dragon like him couldn't defy.
"Is this truly the extent?" Vaarh whispered to himself.
Blast!
The initial amber ray hit him, ripping away his shoulder. The next one bored into his torso, and the following carved a severe gash across his throat.
Ray by ray, the amber blasts shredded Vaarh's form, as his essence gradually acknowledged his defeat.
Adam poured forth every ounce of his energy. He was aware of Vaarh's exceptional resilience. This beast could endure even if reduced to just its head.
When Adam's energy finally depleted and Vaarh conceded his loss, no trace of his physical form survived.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
The ice that once held Vaarh's legs crumbled into shards, tumbling onto the mound of soot that marked the final remnant of the once-proud dragon.
Gradually, Adam descended to the earth before Alexia, with the breeze itself guiding his descent.
His wings, drained to a dull gray and void of power, disintegrated on his following exhale, dissolving in view of Alexia.
Victory was theirs, yet silence enveloped them all.
Step. Step. Step.
Beneath the watchful eyes of the distant monsters and the Head Golem, Adam advanced a few paces before halting near a cluster of ashes amid the fractured ice.
Faintly visible, subtle gray-blue energy strands hovered near the ashes, yet Vaarh was utterly gone. His conclusion had arrived.
"Agh, it wrapped up so suddenly..."
Adam shook his head, grasping the ashes tightly in his hand, observing as they slipped away between his fingers.
"The Primal Lands, Frost Oasis, and the revived dragon—none of that mattered to me, but clashing with you, Vaarh. Just as you desired, I delivered the fiercest confrontation I could. Hope that satisfies you, you smug jerk."
A grin lit Adam's features as he scattered the ashes from his hand, noting how the dull specks stood out against the azure ice and crimson-stained snow nearby.
Afterward, Adam pivoted, glancing back at Alexia over his shoulder.
"Looks like our journey through the Primal Lands is over?"
Alexia, still unable to rise due to her injured leg, flashed a smile.
"Yeah... Now we just need to track down that wyvern and settle the score with her. Though I'm not sure if I'm up for it yet."
Adam gazed toward the heavens.
"Perhaps not on this occasion."
