Endless Evolution: Last Star Chapter 1564: Azure Eye
Previously on Endless Evolution: Last Star...
Throughout Adam's past encounters, adversaries had endured severe injuries and persisted in combat.
In the Primal Lands, such occurrences became far more frequent. Every creature in this realm demonstrated remarkable mastery over their vitality, sinews, and form, coupled with extraordinary resilience.
Yet, despite this awareness, Adam found it hard to accept that Vaarh had withstood a barrage of swords. Two dozen massive swords had stabbed into Vaarh from every direction, and yet he endured.
Or... had Adam erred entirely?
He and Alexia had witnessed Vaarh's condition upon their initial encounter, the fate of his former form. Nothing was left of the mighty dragon except a skull attached to an exposed neck vertebra.
Nevertheless, that remnant sufficed for him to forge the Frost Oasis and a fresh physique, one rivaling the might of the feeblest Lord.
"W-What...?"
Alexia’s voice quivered as the blue eye fixed on her and Adam simultaneously.
"That bastard is alive? He survived even after that?!"
Crack. Crack. Crack.
Right then, Vaarh’s sinews quivered while the illusory swords hit their breaking point. Every one of the twenty swords burst into shards like brittle crystal, replaced by mere gashes that oozed blood.
Truth be told, this development wasn't favorable for Vaarh.
Extracting a sword from an injury and leaving it exposed was a novice error, hastening the blood loss.
Given the sheer number of Vaarh's injuries and the broad width of those swords, his hemorrhaging would only intensify.
But...
Thump. Thump. Thump.
His sinews tightened, and a layer of grayish-blue vitality enveloped his hide. Under Vaarh’s command, the vitality morphed into slender, extended pins that sealed all his numerous gashes like sutures. The sole outlier was his neck, where he halted the flow entirely using a surge of vitality.
Alexia swallowed hard.
At this point, the dragon who had faced a cascade of ten swords was advancing on her, mending his injuries with pins formed from his own vitality.
For a seasoned fighter like her who thrived on battle, this exceeded all bounds.
Adding to the horror, the blue eye lingered overhead near Vaarh, inseparable from him, functioning as a third sight that perceived far beyond his pair.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
Alexia’s pulse quickened, and icy perspiration trickled down her spine as she pushed up from the earth, adopting a combat posture.
In an instant, Vaarh vanished, his palm crashing onto Alexia’s visage. The strike landed swifter than her eyelids could flutter.
"I made a mistake..." Vaarh rasped. "I should have eliminated you right from the start. You’re like a pesky insect that offers no danger but stirs endless trouble!"
His sinews coiled as he hurled Alexia ahead with maximum force.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Alexia’s spine shattered through five frozen summits in her trajectory, each collision jolting blunt agony through her frame, yet she couldn't dwell on it since Vaarh was already upon her.
"Shit, don’t underestimate me!" Alexia yelled as she planted her feet solidly and balled her hand into a solid knot.
Midway through her swing, Vaarh charged in and deflected her forearm with a mere hand.
Consequently, her knuckles sailed past his shoulder rather than striking his countenance squarely.
But Alexia lacked such precision or velocity.
BAM!
Vaarh’s knuckles drove profoundly into her midsection, forcing a sharp intake of anguish from her.
"Don’t worry. I won’t repeat that error, so I’ll conclude this immediately!"
The ensuing moments marked perhaps the toughest brawl in Alexia’s existence.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Vaarh darted left and right, unleashing strikes and sweeps at her vulnerabilities, targeting her belly, limbs, heels, joints, or gullet.
Certainly, despite the onslaught, Alexia refused to yield. Though not a beast from the Primal Lands, her stamina ranked exceptionally high.
A handful of dodged assaults couldn't shatter her, but defeat might.
"Take that!" Alexia cried out, unleashing a broad sweep that Vaarh effortlessly parried with his hand.
Her heel collided with his grasp, and her joint fell captive in Vaarh’s unyielding hold.
"Not bad maneuvers. But if you think that skill level can rival even the lowliest Baron, you truly misunderstand your ambitions. You never should have ventured here."
Step.
Vaarh advanced a pace before lifting his hand.
"K4-Level suffices amply to weather all upcoming World Wipes and dwell safeguarded by your queen. You ought to have embraced that position and savored existence."
A sinister spark ignited in his gaze.
"Well, we all err, don’t we? And merely a few of us halt before it's too late."
Alexia gripped her knuckles hard as she readied her subsequent assault to liberate her limb, but Vaarh anticipated it all.
He foresaw her action, thus outpacing her.
Whoooooosh!
Akin to a heavy mallet, Vaarh’s hand smashed into Alexia’s limb, fracturing the bone.
Crackle.
The sharp snap of splintered bone resounded as Alexia’s eyes bulged from the torrent of torment surging through her.
"F-Fuck."
Clenching her jaws, she channeled every bit of her vitality into her knuckles. She needed to complete the blow.
BAM!
Vaarh’s knuckles hammered her mandible, dislodging yet another molar and propelling her ten paces away.
With a composed yet haughty expression, Vaarh observed Alexia struggling to rise from the dirt.
Crimson trickled from her lips and nostrils, but that paled beside her true plight.
Thump!
Her limbs gave way, dropping her to the soil. The shattered limb rendered her too frail to rise.
Vaarh inclined his head faintly as he readied to advance and deliver the killing stroke.
Precisely then, a silhouette loomed over him.
Without glancing at Adam, who was unleashing his onslaught, Vaarh lifted his limb as Adam’s knuckles collided with Vaarh’s forearm, shoving him back a few paces.
"Agh... Agh... Agh..."
Adam panted roughly while gazing at Vaarh and the Azure Eye piercing his essence.
"What about now, Silvana?"
He inquired.
"Any ideas on how to defeat this?"
