Capítulo 1476: House in the Center (Part 1)

Adam and Silvana ended up lingering at the casino for much longer than they had originally planned. By the time they finally stepped outside, evening had already fallen, though neither of them felt any regret about the delay.

Their time had been well-spent; they walked away with several thousand credits in winnings, enjoyed themselves thoroughly, and, most crucially, crossed paths with Louis and Alexia.

Their next stop was an oriental restaurant, where they sat down to a feast of spicy noodles, sweet and sour chicken, rice, and sushi. They were eager to sample a wide variety of the menu’s offerings.

As they grilled marbled meat on the tabletop stove, Silvana let out a small frown, though she didn't stop eating.

“Is something wrong?” Adam inquired, popping another piece of sushi into his mouth.

“No, it’s just that everything is so delicious... The variety of sauces, the mix of salty, sweet, sour, and spicy flavors—I honestly can’t stop!” Silvana admitted as she watched the waiter approach with their dessert.

Adam arched an eyebrow in amusement.

“Is that really a problem?”

Silvana gave a small shake of her head.

“Well, think of it this way. You can consume all the food and alcohol you want. Even if you put on a few pounds, a single training session or a skirmish with some basic monsters would burn off tens of thousands of calories instantly.”

Adam simply blinked at her, appearing somewhat confused by her line of reasoning.

“Damn it, Adam! I don’t want to get fat! I can’t just shed weight with a snap of my fingers like you can!”

In response, Adam took another piece of sushi and chewed it slowly. He watched her with a focused gaze, trying to determine if she was being serious or just playing around.

“You do realize you aren’t exactly a normal human anymore, right?” He said, taking the desserts from the waiter. “I mean, if you channel your energy and head to a gym or a military facility, you could perform intense physical activities that would incinerate thousands of calories in one go.”

Silvana went silent, her eyes widening as the realization finally hit her.

She was aware, of course, that her powers had merged with Adam’s Evolution Tree, granting her her own source of energy.

However, because she spent the vast majority of her time behind screens in an office acting as Adam’s contact, she rarely thought about applying her power to mundane tasks.

Would she use her abilities to help Adam take down a high-level monster? Absolutely, she wouldn't hesitate for a second. But if she encountered a heavy box in a shop or carried too many groceries, her instinct was still to feel too weak to lift them, despite being far stronger than any ordinary civilian.

The concept of calories followed the same logic.

“Wow, that never even crossed my mind. If I overindulge, I don’t have to starve myself; I can just do a workout that would be physically impossible for a normal person.”

Adam nodded in agreement, covertly snagging a piece of her meat while she was distracted by her thoughts.

“Exactly. So, my advice is to eat to your heart's content today. You hit the gym regularly, don't you?”

“Ughum.”

“Then it’s simple. You could eat a mountain of meat or five whole cakes right now, and as long as you hit the gym tomorrow, it’s settled.”

That was all the convincing Silvana needed. A predatory glint shimmered in her eyes.

She signaled the waiter as he passed by. A massive, lengthy order was about to descend upon him and the entire kitchen staff.

To some degree, Adam’s logic held true even for regular people. While a normal human couldn't burn thousands of calories in a single session, the principle of volume remained the same.

For someone looking to lose a few pounds, total starvation or a diet of only vegetables wasn't the answer. The most effective method was maintaining a consistent calorie deficit over a long period to achieve sustainable weight loss.

Furthermore, if someone on a diet decides to treat themselves to a meal above their limit once a week, it doesn't erase all their hard work. In fact, if an occasional treat provides a mental boost, it can actually help the process. A person who feels good is less likely to quit than someone who has completely abandoned their favorite sweets or fast food.

Like most girls, Silvana was protective of her figure, so this revelation brought her immense relief.

“Hah, being the Operator of a powerful Phantom certainly has its perks!” she cheered, looking at the nearly dozen plates now stacked before her.

Adam propped his head up with his hand, a satisfied grin on his face.

“Just don't overdo it. You should savor your food. If you always eat in massive quantities, your favorite meals will eventually lose their appeal.”

She nodded, acknowledging his point, though her current priority was clearly to eat as much as possible.

In a strange role reversal, it was Silvana who was now devouring mountains of food, a sight usually reserved for Adam.

Adam watched her with a smile, noting how she had to pause occasionally when the food was too hot.

‘I guess you can find joy in life outside of fighting monsters, right?’

...

Late that night, the first reunion between Adam and Silvana after their long separation finally drew to a close.

“What’s your plan for the rest of the night?” Silvana asked as they strolled down the street.

Adam rubbed the back of his neck thoughtfully.

“Well, it was great seeing you, but I’ve been away from my family for a long time too. Come to think of it, I haven’t even visited their new place in the center of the First Ring yet.”

“I’ll send you the address.”

“Thanks.”

They came to a halt, and Silvana turned to face him.

“In that case... I’ll see you tomorrow?”

Adam gave her a wide, bright smile.

“Definitely. You mentioned looking at some houses for us, right? If you find any good spots, we can check them out tomorrow and maybe even close a deal.”

“Alright.” Silvana nodded, leaning in to give him a kiss. “I’m certain your family is going to be thrilled to see you.”

“Hah, I’m counting on it!”
