Da Xuan Martial Saint Chapter 1499 - 720: Time Illusion Realm
Previously on Da Xuan Martial Saint...
This was the Source Realm.
A brilliant radiance of seven colors saturated the atmosphere, while the entire world pulsed with an overflowing, vibrant life force. To any observer, the endless stretches of lush greenery made the domain appear to be a sanctuary teeming with safety and abundant resources.
However, the reality was far more treacherous. This specific region within the Source Realm was the notoriously unfathomable Time Illusion Realm—a place that most Divine Monarchs throughout the Universe dreaded entering above all others.
The domain lived up to its reputation.
Within the Time Illusion Realm, the environment was choked with the chaotic forces of time and space. The Power of Time stood as one of the most enigmatic and difficult energies to grasp in the entire Universe. Among those who reached the rank of Divine Monarch, those who did so via the Path of Time were exceptionally rare, perhaps representing only one in every hundred.
Consequently, there were very few Divine Monarchs who could truly adapt to the conditions of the Time Illusion Realm. This was exacerbated by the fact that when one traverses the Mysterious Gate into the Source Realm, the destination is assigned randomly rather than by choice. Thus, Divine Monarchs of the Time Lineage were scarce here; the majority of inhabitants belonged to the Creation or Void Lineages, who found the environment utterly detestable.
Deep within the verdant, thick forest,
a small group consisting of roughly a dozen individuals was advancing with extreme caution.
This allied team was composed entirely of Divine Monarchs at the Nine Layer Heavens Perfection.
"The Time Illusion Realm..."
The Master of Nanhua let out a heavy sigh, his brow furrowing as a sense of dejection filled his heart.
Since departing from the Nanhua Void, he had dedicated himself to training within the Primordial Domain. He had successfully attained the Nine Layer Heavens Perfection Realm and had even explored the Source Realm on two previous occasions. Luck had been on his side during those first two attempts, as he landed in relatively stable domains and began to build a foundation. However, he was eventually caught in fierce conflicts and suffered attacks that cost him those two opportunities.
This marked his third journey into the Source Realm, and it was his final chance for free entry. He had not expected to be dropped into the notoriously difficult and frustrating Time Illusion Realm.
The reason this place was considered so troublesome was that it lacked fixed cities or established settlements where one could find refuge.
Furthermore,
establishing a permanent team was an almost impossible task here.
The explanation was straightforward: the region was saturated with various chaotic Lights of Time. A single touch from these lights would trigger a temporal dislocation, forcibly shifting a person to a completely different time node. These temporal fluctuations were nearly impossible to defend against; only a Divine Monarch of the Nine Layer Heavens Perfection who practiced the Time Dao could hope to endure them briefly. To anyone else, they were irresistible.
In the span of just over a hundred Boundary Years spent here, the Master of Nanhua had already been forced to cycle through seven or eight different teams. Each time, temporal dislocations had scattered his companions, leaving him to wander the chaotic timelines in search of new allies.
Only elite organizations, such as the Time Temple, possessed enough experts of the Time Lineage Nine Layer Heavens Perfection to maintain a stable group. Most other factions were constantly being fragmented.
This instability naturally bred a deep sense of mutual suspicion within these makeshift alliances.
At the first sign of true peril, these teams would often dissolve instantly.
Moreover,
if one had the misfortune of being caught in a temporal shift only to encounter enemies on the other side, the consequences were disastrous.
The Divine Monarch of Nanhua lamented his luck internally. Nevertheless, this was still a vital chance to train within the Source Realm; he couldn't simply give up and leave. Despite how much he loathed the complications of the Time Illusion Realm, he had to find a way to endure.
The other members of the group shared his mindset, their eyes scanning the surroundings with hyper-vigilance.
Suddenly,
the expression of one cultivator shifted abruptly as they barked a warning: "Be careful!"
Just as the shout rang out, a thunderous roar shook the nearby woods. A massive bear, standing several meters tall and covered in thick, silvery-gray fur, came crashing through the trees. Rising onto its hind legs, the beast swung a razor-sharp claw. As it struck toward the group, a massive claw mark seemed to tear across the very sky!
While the space-time of the Time Illusion Realm is chaotic, it carries a unique trait: the suppression of space and time is weaker here than in other domains. Although Divine Monarchs are still limited, they still possess enough power to move mountains and drain seas. This was a double-edged sword, however, because while the Divine Monarchs regained their might, the local exotic beasts were equally unhindered!
"Strike!"
The dozen or so Divine Monarchs didn't panic at the sight of the bear. They immediately analyzed the beast's aura and combat strength. Once they calculated that the threat was manageable—roughly equivalent to a Single Vein Perfection level—they launched a coordinated counter-offensive, unleashing a barrage of techniques from every angle.
Had the creature possessed high-grade Primordial Power or the terrifying strength of a Three Veins Perfection beast, they would have fled instantly. If it were a Double Vein Perfection entity, they would have engaged in a fighting retreat to lose it. But a Single Vein Perfection beast was a target they were confident they could bring down together.
In this realm, slain exotic beasts would leave behind unique Time Illusion True Cores. Refining these cores allowed a cultivator to significantly boost their understanding of the Great Dao of Time for a limited duration. Even though most of the team followed the Creation or Void Lineages, they were already at the Single Vein Perfection stage. To advance further, they either had to achieve the status of a Venerable or master additional Great Daos. Thus, these Time Illusion True Cores were a resource everyone coveted.
In fact,
