Da Xuan Martial Saint Chapter 1488 - 715: Wuxiang City Lord
Previously on Da Xuan Martial Saint...
Wuxiang City.
Standing elegantly amidst the void, Chen Mu controlled a streak of light, with Chen Yue and Chen Yao following closely by his side.
As a Void Venerable, he possessed the ability to traverse the Source Realm freely, unaffected by the turbulent void within. Yet, he allowed himself to be guided by a stroke of serendipity, escorting Chen Yue and Chen Yao back into the Source Realm and returning once more to the familiar sight of Wuxiang City.
"This place is Wuxiang City, which forms a trinity alongside Wuxiang River and Wuxiang Mountain."
Wuxiang City held no more mysteries for the current Chen Mu. He could clearly perceive the entire structural essence of the region. The City Lord anchors the void, the Wuxiang River swallows creation, and Wuxiang Mountain shifts with the passage of time.
Each of these three distinct territories embodies one of the three Origin Daos.
Because the Wuxiang River is nearly integrated with the Creation River, its waters overflow with supreme Creation Power that no one below the rank of a Venerable can endure. Should any living being beneath the Venerable level fall into its depths, the waters of creation would instantly nullify every trace of their being, including their physical forms and their very causality.
Consequently, any soul falling into the Wuxiang River is not merely destined to die; even the memories others hold of them will vanish, resulting in a total erasure of their existence from the world.
"It is truly a marvel of the cosmos."
Standing beside Chen Mu, Chen Yue watched the massive city gates and the endless stretch of the Wuxiang River, her eyes shimmering with light.
Shielded by Chen Mu’s protection, she was able to safely observe the laws of Wuxiang City and study the world’s composition—a structure far more profound than any Secret Realm she had previously encountered.
The laws of the Great Dao were manifested almost directly here, exceeding even the structural complexity of the Ninth Layer Void.
In such a place, even a Divine Monarch of the Ninth Layer would likely suffer heavy suppression. Even if they managed to disturb the void here, they could only tear a rift of a few dozen feet, a far cry from the world-shattering might they commanded in the external universe.
The creation of heaven and earth and the cycles of causality were self-contained and absolute here.
"I am unable to see through it."
Chen Yao knit her brows as she surveyed the landscape and Wuxiang City.
At her current cultivation level, the underlying structure of Wuxiang City remained beyond her grasp. The 'mortals' residing within appeared ordinary yet strange. Although they were made of flesh and blood, they lived under such intense Dao suppression as if they were normal humans; this feat alone was staggering to contemplate.
"You do not understand?"
Looking down at Wuxiang City, Chen Mu observed the familiar urban scenes and the many mortals traversing the streets. He gave a faint smile and explained, "Causality cycles, neither increasing nor diminishing; that is the essence of creation. While the inhabitants of this city appear to be mundane flesh and blood, they are actually living beings manifested by the unique laws of this territory."
"And you would be mistaken to think they are merely ordinary people; they were not always so mundane in the past..."
Chen Mu’s gaze was piercing. Having not only mastered the Void Dao but also gained control over the Creation Dao, every shift in causality was visible to him.
In a place like Wuxiang City, the surface rules seemed simple, but the foundational laws were incredibly complex.
The common folk living in Wuxiang City seemed ordinary, but in reality, they were once Divine Monarchs who had fallen into the Wuxiang River, or God Realm experts who had perished within the Source Realm.
When these beings met their end in the Source Realm, the Creation Power stripped away their wills and memories, erasing all traces of them. In a process akin to reincarnation, they became mortal beings and were reborn within Wuxiang City.
As the principle goes: neither increasing nor diminishing!
Absolute destruction never truly occurs; for all living things, death is merely a transition from one state to another. This truth is exceptionally clear in Wuxiang City—a concept the Chen Mu of the past could not comprehend, but whose essence he could now perceive.
"To think such a thing was possible."
Chen Yue and Chen Yao were stunned after listening to Chen Mu’s explanation.
With their current realms, the true enigmas of creation and the principle of neither increasing nor diminishing were still beyond them. They looked toward the crowds walking the streets of Wuxiang City with newfound astonishment after Chen Mu revealed the city's true nature.
Could these 'mortal beings' of flesh and blood really have been Divine Monarchs who fell in the Source Realm?
"However, even in the vastness of the universe, while there are many Divine Monarchs, those who reach the Ninth Layer Heavens and enter the Source Realm—only to fall into the Wuxiang River—should not be so numerous."
Chen Yao looked at the nearly billions of inhabitants in the city and asked in bewilderment.
Chen Mu gave her a meaningful look and replied, "The concept of neither increasing nor diminishing is not restricted to just this single cycle of the universe. The cosmos has cycled many times, and the Source Realm has been destroyed and rebuilt on countless occasions. The Divine Monarchs who fell here in past eras have returned, as they cannot leave a permanent mark on the Origin River. Because they cannot trace back to their past selves, it is equally valid to say they have died or that they have simply reappeared in a new form."
"Only a Dao Venerable is capable of leaving an eternal imprint upon the Origin River."
Upon hearing Chen Mu's words,
Chen Yue whispered in awe, "I understand now."
Though the small Wuxiang City covered less territory than a Space Seat or even a Space Domain, its status as a unique domain within the Source Realm meant that its fundamental laws revealed the deepest secrets of the Creation Dao at every turn.
