Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension Chapter 1451 - 785: Monsters Appear, Nine-Headed Dragon Revealed (Part 2)
Previously on Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension...
Suddenly, a fierce tiger's roar echoed from the distance, rumbling through the heavens, as a dazzling golden light burst across the sky in reply.
Startled by the roar, the Phoenix beat its wings in haste and rose high into the air. From nowhere, a vast Fire Cloud formed instantly, wrapping around it with firm defense.
The tiger's roar hadn't even died down when a streak of white light sped over from the horizon at astonishing velocity, smashing through hordes of bones without slowing a bit.
In a flash, the white light drew close and took shape as a colossal White Tiger, the size of an elephant, its fur gleaming in majestic platinum hues.
No sooner had the White Tiger materialized than it fixed a raging glare on the Fire Cloud above, bellowing in fury, "Phoenix, my consort was killed by you. Today I will take your life to honor my consort’s spirit."
Hearing this, the enormous black bear jumped in desperately to calm things: "Tiger King, don’t act hastily. The Reincarnation Gate is about to open. The important things come first, the important things!"
As it spoke, the black bear bounded right in front of the White Tiger, bowing over and over.
"Black Bear, step aside. Otherwise, I will kill you too!" The White Tiger King shot it a deadly stare, growling with menace.
"You can’t kill! If you both end up in mutual destruction, won’t that be a pointless loss of two major forces? We still have to besiege the Holy Beast Corpse Spirit later. Without either of you, it will all be in vain!"
The huge black bear urged with deep worry, "If we fail again this time, it’s not just me; I fear even Tiger King you won’t last till the next opening of the gate. Tiger King, you must reconsider!"
After hearing this, the White Tiger King squinted its eyes, its killing intent easing just a touch.
Out of nowhere, a chilly voice rang from above: "I am right here, if you want to kill, do it quickly."
How annoying!
At those words, the black bear's face twisted in frustration, silently damning the Phoenix for its ingratitude.
This remark acted like fuel on flames, sparking the White Tiger King’s rage anew.
"Fine, fine, I will let you witness the power of the White Tiger Seven Kills Scripture—"
But before the White Tiger King could utter another word, a shocking twist unfolded!
In that split second, the Six-toothed White Elephant's corpse burst open from inside, hurling chunks of flesh and blood in all directions.
A dark figure bolted from its remains like a bolt of lightning, shifting in the air into a calf-sized, jet-black Nine-clawed Octopus.
Right after emerging, the octopus unleashed a thick cloud of black mist, which swallowed up dozens of miles in an instant.
The whole area sank into pitch blackness at once, as though night had fallen abruptly.
Not much later, the gloom lifted as swiftly as it arrived, and daylight flooded back into view.
By then, the White Tiger King had pulled back under the Dragon Whale's skull, watching the black octopus hovering in the sky with sharp caution, letting out deep snarls.
At the same time, the giant bear stood next to the White Tiger King, its paws shielding its chest in a glow of dark light, as if bracing for a sudden assault.
The octopus creature swung its tentacles about with ease, smirking, "Heh heh, I was feasting delightfully when I heard you noisy lot outside. It’s so...annoying!"
The giant bear, showing clear fear, whispered reluctantly, "Lady Zhang...Since you already came, why didn’t you show up? Could it be you’re planning to ambush one of us?"
"Heh heh, Little Bear, though you look ugly, you sure have wild dreams. You still want me to make a move? Who do you think you are?" The Octopus Lady dropped down, extending a few tentacles to jab mockingly at the giant bear’s nose.
The giant bear backed away a step, forcing an awkward smile: "I didn’t mean that. It’s just...just..."
Watching this, the White Tiger King snorted out two blasts of platinum light from its nostrils, scoffing, "Humph, Lady Zhang, since when did you get involved with the Thief Phoenix?"
"Heh heh, who I associate with is none of your business!" The Octopus Monster fired back without a hint of deference to the White Tiger King.
Though slighted, the White Tiger King held its temper, tensing its frame even tighter.
Just then, the Octopus Monster noticed Zhao Sheng close by, as if spotting something intriguing.
It zipped over to Zhao Sheng in a blink, eyeing him for a moment before chuckling craftily, "Little monkey, I find you pleasing. Are you hungry? There’s food down below."
Though starving, Zhao Sheng clasped his hands and turned it down, "I am not hungry!"
Stuck in the Beast Path, wariness ruled; no telling what deadly tricks lurked in food that looked so easy to grab.
The Octopus Monster's tone darkened like ink at his reply, laughing softly, "Heh heh, in my homeland, eating is bigger than the sky, and inviting someone to eat requires etiquette: being ’gentle, respectful, frugal, and humble’, especially the ’humble’. For example, I invite you to eat now; even if we are strangers, I must offer: want a bite? Whether the other eats or not, they must accept the invitation, or else it’s disrespectful. Little monkey, how about a bite?"
As soon as it finished, a massive elephant leg rose from below, the whole thing bigger than half of Zhao Sheng’s frame.
Zhao Sheng gazed at the elephant leg so near, reaching out gradually to hug it close.
"Thank you!"
"Heh heh, no need to thank me, just eat quickly!" The Octopus Monster buzzed with odd thrill, pressing him over and over.
"I don’t like eating raw. It’s better to roast it first," Zhao Sheng, sensing the growing ill intent, dodged with that pretext.
The Octopus Monster shot back at once, "Eating it cooked is fine too! Phoenix, use your Glazed Fire to roast it for him."
Before the sentence ended, a crimson glow dropped from the heavens, settling on the elephant leg and igniting into roaring flames.
Soon after, the elephant leg began to cook, releasing a strange, tempting aroma.
With that, Zhao Sheng stood up slowly and moved toward the elephant leg.
Right then, the Octopus Monster, Phoenix, White Tiger King, and giant bear all locked their gazes in unison, as if poised for Zhao Sheng's first chomp into the meat.
Suddenly, a heavy thump echoed from the ground nearby, ripping open a deep chasm out of nowhere, breaking the tense vigil of the group.
The instant after, a huge gray rat with cunning little eyes leaped from the hole, quaking under the piercing stares of the beasts around it.
The massive black bear, with its wide connections, knew its old pal right away: "Cluck cluck, so you didn’t go crazy, Thief Rat."
"Xiong the Third, even if you go mad, I will not!" The gray rat snapped back without delay.
With that out, it rushed to nod at the rest, "Tiger Boss, Phoenix, and Lady Zhang, long time no see!"
The White Tiger King huffed coldly, blowing white light from its nose.
The Phoenix flapped its wings softly, sending sparks flying everywhere.
The Octopus Monster flicked its tentacles, twisting through a series of odd gestures.
The gray rat's eyes darted about, landing at last on Zhao Sheng standing near.
"Oh, we’ve got a newcomer. I wonder about their strength, should I weigh them up?"
The giant bear bared its teeth in a grin, "No need, I’ve tested them already, they’re strong!"
"In that case, I’m relieved," the gray rat nodded, its whiskers quivering as it burst out in alarm, "Not good, a group has already found the Holy Beast Corpse Spirit and started fighting."
Blessed with exceptional hearing, the gray rat caught every sound across ten thousand miles.
Thus, the beasts took its warning as gospel.
"What? Thief Rat, lead the way quickly. Don’t let others gain the advantage," the White Tiger King, shoving aside its feud with the Phoenix, bellowed right away.
No prodding required, the gray rat had already dashed west at lightning speed.
The Phoenix shifted into a Fire Cloud, trailing right behind.
The Octopus Monster morphed swiftly into a cloud of black fog, slipping along beneath the Fire Cloud.
The giant bear and White Tiger King, lagging a bit, pursued hard from five or six miles back.
Seeing the beasts charge ahead, Zhao Sheng felt a wave of relief, then pushed off the earth with power, bounding a thousand yards at a leap, bounding swiftly toward the western clash.
...
As they hurried on, the bones littering the path swelled to gigantic heights, crimson glows blooming over the terrain to push back the choking shadows.
Before long, the ground turned into a sea of blood, with bones jutting like endless reefs, strewn all around.
Roar, roar, roar!
In the distant sky up ahead, a towering colossal form stretched to the heavens, its nine massive skeletal dragon heads twisting through the Void, seizing every onlooker's attention.
Before long, the ground turned into a sea of blood, with bones jutting like endless reefs,
