Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension Chapter 1382 - 743: Immortal Heaven Continent

Previously on Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension...
As the celestial catastrophe looms, the Taiyi Spirit Palace has summoned the Immortal Stele, establishing a vast merit system that rewards cultivators for slaying Alien Demons with everything from divine artifacts to immortality. Zhao Sheng is captivated by the potential rewards, but learns from Zhao Xuanjing that only those with a Merit Stele Subbody can participate in the exchange. The two reveal a dire mission: they must act as pioneers to secure the Immortal Heaven Continent, the fallen life-bound world of the late Tu Bo Immortal Venerable. If this vast realm and its billions of inhabitants fall to the Alien Demons, it will become an unstoppable breeding ground for a demonic army.

Upon grasping the situation, Zhao Sheng wasted no time. "Understood," he said. "Do you need me to do anything?"

Zhao Xuanjing silently admired the man’s sharp intuition; he had caught on instantly. Foregoing any further pleasantries, he spoke plainly, "This old man needs you to act as my protector! Once my Primordial Spirit departs from this body, I will leave this physical shell in your care."

Without asking a single question, Zhao Sheng gave a firm nod of consent.

"Rest assured! So long as I draw breath, no one shall lay a finger on your flesh!"

"Naturally, I have full confidence in you," Zhao Xuanjing replied serenely. "Time is of the essence. You must accompany me to Yuxu Cave Mansion immediately!"

Having finished speaking, Zhao Xuanjing rose to his feet and marched out of the hall.

Seeing this, Zhao Sheng followed close behind.

...

An hour passed before two streaks of tunneling light suddenly pierced through the void, vanishing into the remote reaches of the Wolong Mountain Range.

Shortly after, Zhao Sheng and Zhao Xuanjing arrived within the depths of Yuxu Cave Mansion.

Zhao Xuanjing drifted down to the floor of the Jade Pond, seating himself cross-legged over the Spring Eye. Suddenly, his fingers began dancing in a rapid blur of hand seals. Countless bursts of spirit light erupted, instantly embedding themselves into every corner of the surrounding space.

Boom~

The Yuxu Cave Mansion began to tremble violently. Countless paths of light suddenly manifested across the walls, the ceiling, and the floor, weaving together like luminous rivers that radiated a brilliant glow.

In a flash, layers of magnificent barriers materialized, sealing the underground mansion within one protective shell after another.

As each Great Array was triggered in sequence, Zhao Sheng felt a suffocating killing intent permeate the void. It was clear that any intruder who stumbled in would be met with a devastating, lethal strike!

"Come down here at once!" Zhao Xuanjing called out to Zhao Sheng once the formations were fully active.

Zhao Sheng complied and descended, taking a seat cross-legged at his side.

With a flick of his wrist, Zhao Xuanjing sent a Yellow Jade Token flying into Zhao Sheng’s palm.

"This is the Array Control Token; guard it well! If enemies dare to invade, you can wield the Great Array to execute them! Unless an Integration Realm Great Power appears, anyone below that level of Cultivation will face certain death!" Zhao Xuanjing spoke with bold confidence, and Zhao Sheng knew he wasn't boasting.

The Wolong Mountain Range had served as the Zhao Family's primary stronghold for over five millennia, and Yuxu Cave Mansion was the clan's most sacred core. It was fortified with countless ancient formations designed to ensure that no Integration Realm cultivator would ever leave alive.

After finishing his instructions, Zhao Xuanjing swept his long sleeve, releasing a streak of golden light.

As it tumbled through the air, the light spun rapidly before transforming into a stout child clad in a golden bellyband.

The boy looked barely eight or nine years old and stood about three feet tall. His skin was a sickly dark yellow, and his features were quite hideous. Two small golden horns protruded from his forehead, and his oversized mouth stretched nearly to his cheeks, filled with rows of teeth as sharp as saw blades.

"Master, I’m hungry... so hungry! Hey, who are you? You look delicious!"

The grotesque child had barely spoken before he spotted Zhao Sheng, his tiny eyes narrowing with a malicious glint.

Zhao Sheng could only manage a wry smile, marveling at how the once-obedient Mountain Dragon had devolved into such a bratty creature over the millennia.

"Little Gold, mind your manners!" Zhao Xuanjing’s expression darkened as he scolded the boy. "This is one of our own; go and show your respect!"

The Mountain Dragon, Xiao Jin, gave a reluctant grumble. He shuffled over and lazily cupped his hands toward Zhao Sheng, performing a half-hearted greeting.

Seeing the lack of sincerity, Zhao Xuanjing chose not to press his spirit pet further, looking away as if he hadn't noticed.

"I shall soon project my Primordial Spirit and merge it with Little Gold. He will then guide me swiftly to the Immortal Heaven Continent. The affairs of this place are now in your hands."

"Rest easy, Jing Ancestor. I will hold the line here!" Zhao Sheng vowed, his eyes filled with resolve.

Zhao Xuanjing gave a slight nod, offering no further words. He beckoned Little Gold to his side and rested his hands upon his knees.

In that heartbeat, a version of "Zhao Xuanjing" that radiated the aura of a True Immortal stepped out from his physical body. With a single stride, he entered Little Gold’s form and disappeared.

"As Little Gold and I set out on this path, our fate is unknown, and our return is uncertain; if..."

Abruptly, the Taiyi Merit Stele rose into the air, expanding rapidly until it stood ten zhang high, looming with the majesty of a celestial monument.

"I depart!"

Following that final declaration, Little Gold leaped into the air, transforming into a small golden dragon. Like a bolt of lightning, he dived into the stele and vanished.

Boom!

The Merit Stele slammed into the bottom of the Jade Pond with a thunderous roar. The carved characters for "Taiyi" began to pulse with a soft, ethereal glow.

Zhao Sheng walked toward the Immortal Stele and sat before the inscription. He slowly closed his eyes, drifting into a meditative trance that resembled deep sleep.

...

Time lost all meaning until a solitary beam of light pierced through the darkness of another world.

A golden flash erupted from the heights of the Tianqiong, quickly taking shape as it reverted back into the three-foot-tall, ugly child.

A figure then emerged halfway from his body—it was the Primordial Spirit of Zhao Xuanjing.

Guided by the power of the Immortal Stele, the master and servant had successfully reached the Immortal Heaven Continent.

Though they remained conscious, both felt a wave of vertigo. They paused for a moment to recover until their surroundings became clear.

Zhao Xuanjing surveyed the landscape. The sky above felt heavy and dim, and the air was filled with the howling of sinister winds. They had arrived high in the air above a range of dark, blue-black mountains.

He detached himself from Little Gold’s body and opened his mouth to give an order, but his entire frame suddenly locked up.

At that moment, his spirit began to glow intensely. His spiritual acupoints ignited one by one as ancient Primordial Qi from every direction began to surge toward him.

What began as thin wisps soon turned into massive, cloud-like masses of energy, all converging upon his Primordial Spirit.
