Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension Chapter 1355 - 729: Illegal Resident (Part 2)
Previously on Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension...
A short time later, a massive head, pitch-black and as large as a millstone, broke through the water’s surface. Its eyes glowed with an unsettling red light, reminiscent of two crimson lanterns. Adorning each side of the snake's head were two small horns that looked both intricate and delicate.
Then, a gargantuan python body emerged, stretching thirty to forty meters long like a small mountain range rising from the depths. Beneath the creature's belly, a pair of stunted, small claws had sprouted, creating an incredibly mismatched and strange appearance.
"Hiss hiss... who are you, human barbarian? Why have you slaughtered my descendants so wantonly?" The pitch-black Jiao Python flicked a massive, scarlet forked tongue. Its huge eyes suddenly flashed with a cold light as it unexpectedly spoke in human tongue to question the intruder.
As it spoke, its python body expanded further, looming like a peak and radiating a thick killing intent, as if it intended to devour the man without further hesitation.
"This old man asks you: what place is this? Which continent of the Spirit Realm have I found?" Zhao Sheng inquired with an indifferent expression, his voice cutting through the tension.
The Water Serpent King, long accustomed to being the undisputed ruler of its domain, was incensed by the intruder's arrogance and the blatant dismissal of its own words.
A black shadow blurred as a thick tail lashed out from the water, whipping violently toward Zhao Sheng in mid-air. The tip of the tail was shrouded in countless razor-sharp water blades, forming a mountain of knives that hemmed Zhao Sheng in from every direction.
Poof!
The Water Serpent King suddenly felt an overwhelming pressure descend upon it. This was followed by a searing agony tearing through its nearly indestructible demon body. Half of a blood-drenched snake tail flew into the air before crashing back into the water, sending up massive sprays.
In the following instant, the Water Serpent King felt a heavy weight atop its head. One of its Dragon Horns was stepped on and shattered instantly. Blood sprayed as the beast let out a pained howl, the shock nearly jarring its Demon Soul right out of its body.
"Aww..."
The Water Serpent King’s entire frame went rigid, its head frozen in the air, paralyzed by fear.
Due to the suffocating and terrifying aura emanating from the man standing on its head, it did not dare to move an inch, realizing it had accidentally provoked a power it could never hope to match.
"If you wish to live, answer my questions honestly. If I sense any deception, your head will be the price," Zhao Sheng stated coldly while standing firmly upon the Jiao Python’s skull.
Trembling from head to tail, the Water Serpent King opened its maw and spoke with a voice full of submission and panic. "Spare me! This Little King will answer everything truthfully and would never dare to lie. This Little King was blind and failed to recognize your greatness; I hope you can find it in you not to blame me."
"Too much nonsense!" Zhao Sheng’s brow furrowed. He suddenly exerted force with his foot, snapping the remaining Dragon Horn.
"Aww—"
The Water Serpent King’s cry of pain was cut short as it clamped its mouth shut, terrified of causing further irritation.
"I will speak! This little demon will confess everything immediately. This region is the Dragon and Snake Swamp, situated in a secluded northwest corner of the Four Saints Continent. This marsh spans roughly seventy to eighty thousand miles and is governed by three Jiao Emperors. It is tens of thousands of miles away from the nearest Human Race Spirit Domain..."
The Jiao Python proved to be quite talkative, rambling out every detail it knew, whether useful or not, out of a desperate fear that Zhao Sheng would deliver a fatal strike.
A moment later, while the Water Serpent King was still babbling, its massive head was suddenly severed from its neck. It fell like a giant stone, accompanied by a deluge of Demon Blood, hitting the water with a thunderous boom.
The enormous python body continued to writhe in its death throes. A fountain-like spray of crimson Demon Blood erupted from the stump of the neck, staining the surrounding waters a deep red.
At that moment, a Dragon Serpent Soul about seven or eight inches long shot out from beneath the water, attempting to flee into the distance with lightning speed.
"Come back!"
At Zhao Sheng's command, the Dragon Serpent Soul froze mid-flight. It was then yanked backward as if it were a kite being pulled by an invisible string.
"Don't kill me! If you do, you'll regret it..."
The Water Serpent King’s Demon Soul struggled with all its might, yet it remained trapped by the binding force.
The creature had only tried to buy time to escape, but its chatter had ultimately led to its destruction.
A chilling light flickered in Zhao Sheng’s eyes, causing the Dragon Serpent Soul to go still instantly, its eyes becoming vacant and dull.
A breath later, the Nascent Soul-level Dragon Serpent Soul dissolved into a spark of flowing light and vanished entirely.
Through its Divine Soul, Zhao Sheng had extracted every piece of knowledge the beast possessed.
Having no desire to stay in the swamp any longer, Zhao Sheng glanced toward the horizon and vanished into thin air.
...
Several days later, in the heart of a lush plain, a dark green city rose majestically, its massive walls stretching as far as the eye could see.
This metropolis, known as Bai’an City, was a melting pot where the Hundred Clans lived together. With a population exceeding several million, it stood as one of the few major urban centers within a three-thousand-mile radius.
Atop a soaring white palace, Zhao Sheng sat perched on a bronze dragon-head ornament. He slowly rolled up the Jade Scroll in his hands, having finished absorbing its contents.
The Jade Scroll provided a broad overview of the Four Saints Continent’s geography, local customs, and intelligence regarding several Cultivation Sects.
The records indicated that the Four Saints Continent was an immense land, widely regarded as a haven for demon beasts. While the land was rich in Cultivation resources, Human Race Spirit Domains were few and far between. Compared to the Da Kun Continent in the Taisu Spiritual Realm, the human population here was nearly a hundred times smaller.
Although the Human Clan was technically the dominant force on the Four Saints Continent, it was a place defined by the coexistence of humans and the Hundred Clans, where the law of the jungle prevailed.
This social structure existed because the true ruler of the continent was the Spirit-controlling Immortal Sect.
Within that sect, Beast Taming Cultivation was the primary path. Over countless millennia, this had left an indelible mark on the continent's unique Cultivation culture.
The actual mountain gate of the Spirit-controlling Immortal Sect was not located on the Four Saints Continent itself. Its true location remained a profound mystery, known to very few since ancient times.
Zhao Sheng found this unsurprising, as the Nine Questions Immortal Sect followed a similar tradition of secrecy.
Looking down at the city below, he saw roads a hundred meters wide that carved the city into hundreds of distinct districts. The streets were laid out with precision. Almost every structure was crafted from Giant Stones, giving the city a heavy, grand, and exotic atmosphere.
Bustling shops lined the thoroughfares, crowded with inhabitants. Many possessed unusual physical traits, though some members of the Human Clan appeared ordinary.
Most citizens were accompanied by demon beasts, showing a deep and integrated bond between the species.
From his vantage point, the Alien Races and the Human Clan appeared to live in harmony, with very little visible friction on the surface.
Just then, a veiled woman with a graceful figure flew through the sky atop a winged tiger. Her eyes caught sight of Zhao Sheng sitting calmly atop the palace roof.
She was dressed in a form-fitting short skirt of blue silk embroidered with gold thread. The garment accented her alluring curves, and her almond-shaped eyes shimmered with a bright, curious light.
