Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension Chapter 1292 - 700: Star Lord Vanguard, Immortal Law Legacy

Previously on Cultivating for a hundred lifetimes to ascension...
The four cultivators faced an onslaught of war puppets, with Zhao Sheng focusing on defense while Soaring Snake easily shredded his attackers. Emperor Jiang then revealed they had unearthed an ancient grotto-heaven mausoleum, whose guardians, resembling stone statues, soon emerged. These guardians were impervious to spiritual power and incredibly resilient, making them formidable foes. Soaring Snake was dragged underground, prompting Emperor Jiang to order a retreat, and the remaining cultivators barely escaped, with Wuzhiqi self-exploding limbs to flee. Zhao Sheng, observing the lingering Yellow Cloud and the mausoleum's entrance, pondered Emperor Jiang's unusual actions and made a bold decision.

As myriad humanoid entities retreated into the earth, the crimson veins that had webbed across the Magic Platform slowly faded away. The massive Platinum Platform soon returned to its former state of chilling, deathly stillness.

Several days passed. From the shelter of a crumbling wall within a shattered palace twenty miles distant, Zhao Sheng stood motionless. He stared indifferently toward the distant, grand Magic Platform and the "Light Point" suspended in the firmament. His gaze remained fixed upon that Yellow Cloud for an eternity, resembling a statue carved from stone.

Although Emperor Jiang had yet to reveal himself, Zhao Sheng’s instincts whispered that his opponent had not departed. Instead, he was likely lurking in the shadows of the ruins.

The motive remained a mystery; perhaps gripped by some nameless dread, Emperor Jiang lacked the courage to approach the Magic Platform directly and remained caught in indecision.

Zhao Sheng trusted his own judgment, feeling more certain than ever that he and Emperor Jiang were cut from the same cloth.

It was simply a matter of outwaiting the other, and patience was a virtue he possessed in abundance.

One day passed.

Two days.

Three days.

...

Ten days vanished in the blink of an eye.

Finally, on this day, a change occurred.

Deep inside the palace wreckage, Zhao Sheng’s eyes snapped open as he turned his head toward the west. His vision seemed to pierce through the heavy stone walls, witnessing a succession of Meteors streaking across the horizon.

"Hmph, Gangsha... mere locusts!" Zhao Sheng sneered, his voice a low mutter.

He had anticipated Emperor Jiang, but instead, a group of Gangsha Star Lords had arrived—at least six in total.

It required no effort to guess that the leader was none other than that frequently killed Heavenly Authority Star Lord.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Six Meteors crashed down from the heavens, striking the earth in rapid succession and kicking up massive plumes of grit. Every single one landed in the vicinity of the Platinum Platform.

The entrance of these Gangsha Star Lords was as boastful as ever!

Whoosh—

A sudden gale howled through the area, clearing the dust that choked the air.

In the following moment, six beams of starlight erupted from the ground and ascended to the top of the Magic Platform. They transformed into six distinct individuals, each possessing a unique appearance.

A closer look revealed the familiar faces of Heavenly Authority Star, Sky Tyrant Star, and Heavenly Skill Star. Accompanying them were a small monk and an old, blind man.

Searching through his memories, Zhao Sheng quickly identified the newcomers as Earth Kind Star and Earth Dark Star, both belonging to the Earth Evil Star Lords.

The moment Heavenly Authority Star and his party arrived, they spotted the Law Yellow Cloud and the "Light Point" in the sky. Identifying the "Light Point" as the gateway to a Lost Cave Heaven, they were immediately seized by a wild euphoria.

They had originally come to settle a score, yet they had stumbled upon an immense treasure; a Cave Heaven lost to time had manifested right before their eyes.

This was truly a gift from the heavens! To ignore such a windfall would make their difficult journey a waste.

But does fortune truly fall from the sky so easily?

Hardly.

Before long, just as the Gangsha Star Lords were finishing the preparations for their Star Battle Formation, the Platinum Platform shifted. A red glow saturated the structure as the veins were revitalized. Tomb Guardians erupted from beneath the platform, swarming and fearlessly attacking the group led by Heavenly Authority Star.

The scene unfolding on the platform mirrored the previous ambush against Zhao Sheng and his companions.

The primary difference was that while the Gangsha Star Lords possessed superior offensive power, their defense was lacking. Their Starlight Bodies lasted barely a hundred breaths before they were utterly overwhelmed. They managed to slay only three of the humanoid creatures before falling.

Watching from the sidelines this time, Zhao Sheng observed the battle clearly, gaining a deeper appreciation for the terrifying power of the Tomb Guardians.

Within the Extraordinary Return to Silence Burial Immortal Ruins, the Tomb Guardians—with their gray lithic shells and unnaturally powerful bodies—were the clear "natural enemies" of Human Clan Cultivators.

The physical forms of the Human Clan were relatively delicate, lacking the resilience of the sturdy Demon Clan or other Alien Races.

If one could not break those stone shells beforehand, even a Tribulation Crossing Venerable would find it difficult to survive a siege by more than a hundred Tomb Guardians.

Zhao Sheng did not move even as he watched Heavenly Authority Star and the others suffer a total defeat. He knew the Gangsha Star Lords would not retreat so easily, particularly since only their Gangsha Starlight Bodies had perished.

As expected, Heavenly Authority Star and his peers soon returned. Meteors cut through the sky once more, trailing long plumes of fire as they descended toward the Platinum Platform.

They were more cautious this time, beginning their assault by wiping out the "small fry" on the outskirts.

Before the Tomb Guardians could fully manifest, several War Puppets were spotted and destroyed by the Star Lords, leading to an obvious conclusion.

In less than fifteen minutes, a multitude of Tomb Guardians suddenly surged from the ruins, catching the Star Lords by surprise.

Once again, the six Gangsha Starlight Bodies were completely annihilated.

This revelation suggested to Zhao Sheng that the Tomb Guardians were far more numerous than he had first guessed. It also explained why Emperor Jiang had remained hidden.

As it turned out, that man had likely foreseen the Gangsha Star Lords finding this location, or he might have even lured them here himself.

While Zhao Sheng didn't know the exact method Emperor Jiang used to contact them, his goal was transparent: he was using the Gangsha Star Lords as "cannon fodder" to thin out the Tomb Guardians and scout the path ahead.

Three days followed the second total defeat.

On this day, Heavenly Authority Star and the others made another aggressive return.

This third confrontation bore fruit. Not only did they dismantle every War Puppet in one sweep, but they also took down more than sixteen Tomb Guardians simultaneously.

Crucially, they pinpointed the true "weakness" of the Tomb Guardians. It wasn't found in their gray stone shells, but in the fact that they were bound to the ruins and could not venture even a single step beyond them.
