Chrysalis Chapter 1732 - Army Wide Rumble

Previously on Chrysalis...
Anthony unleashes a single, enhanced blast of acid infused with ancient mana toward the gathered enemy army, the fluid rapidly expanding as it devours shields and barriers in a sizzling onslaught. The self-propagating acid surrounds the troops in a dome of ravenous hunger, chewing through their magical defenses and even the tunnel floor, leaving them battered but intact after minutes of relentless pressure. Smug from the display, Anthony broadcasts an offer of surrender, met instead with the army's defiant charge.

Having showcased the excellence of my acidic creations, I've undoubtedly pulled numerous resources from my adversaries. Enduring that devastating acid onslaught must have sapped their mana and mental stamina completely, that's for certain.

Moreover, they've been compelled to abandon their defensive spot. If they'd chosen to remain stationary, they would've had to endure while I unleashed additional volleys of acid upon them. Evidently, they refused to endure that fate and opted to charge forward with full force and determination!

Perfect.

My head begins to warm as my thoughts race at full tilt, mana swirling and forming at breakneck pace while I gear up for the clash. I've got plenty of tricks prepared for these fools, and I'm eager to unleash them all.

It's a solid way to blow off steam!

At my rear, the two units I summoned are shifting into supportive roles, joined by Tiny and Invidia. Crinis remains hidden close by, not within my shadow, as I ordered her to conceal herself elsewhere, dismissing her protests. She can dive into the fray at the perfect instant.

Alright, let's witness how you handle this!

Chuckling inwardly, I summon a gravity well. Potent yet unenhanced, I position it right above their oncoming forms, altering the pull of gravity to force them downward into the earth.

For smaller bands of explorers, this tactic proved incredibly potent, as they lacked the means to shatter or resist the spell. It seems what Granin shared with me ages back holds true—that monsters possess far greater strength than lone individuals, particularly as ranks climb higher. Not even fifty skilled and seasoned fighters can stand against me.

This confirms monsters as the ultimate beings! Gweheheheh.

Yet, facing what appears to be nearly a hundred humans, the gravity well I invoke gets torn apart within moments.

Oof.

Well... that's probably inevitable. Heaven knows how many among these guys can manipulate mana externally. With so many minds assaulting my spell simultaneously, it's way beyond what I can withstand alone.

Very well then!

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Now for the Enhanced Gravity Well! Take that!

At first, they show no fondness for it whatsoever. I invested a massive amount of power into this well, boosted further by the enhancement, creating an intense force that crushes people to the dirt and leaves them thoroughly miserable. Following the initial round of brutal impacts, the situation shifts swiftly as those collective minds set about dismantling my magic.

How on earth can they dismantle it so swiftly? Even with their vast numbers, shredding my Gravity Well this rapidly shouldn't be feasible. Something suspicious is afoot here. Weren't they meant to be worn out from repelling the acid assault?! Indeed, this reeks of trouble.

I know this odor well. The rotten whiff of mischief!

No matter. I'm not relying on these Gravity Wells to secure victory or the like; I merely wanted to gauge their remaining strength. Clearly, they've got loads left.

Thus, I'll need to exhaust them far more completely.

Wow, they can traverse distance with surprising speed. It's odd watching a whole force march steadily toward me. They're advancing smoothly out there, and soon they'll be upon me, turning the fight precarious.

I draw forth additional mana to unleash chaos, yet an unexpected event catches me off guard before I can proceed.

From the Judgement Battalion, that dazzling glow erupts anew, briefly overwhelming my sight with its abrupt brilliance. My vision recovers fast, revealing the light has solidified once more. No wings this round, but spears—in droves—suspended in the sky over the onrushing soldiers.

My antennae blare alerts, and I respond instinctively, shedding the Well's grip on myself and plummeting like a rock.

Maybe they foresaw my evasion, or perhaps they launched them in a wide spread. With limited options to maneuver mid-air, I contort as much as possible, but evasion proves impossible for all. A spear as thick as a utility pole crashes into my flank, impaling me like succulent skewers from the Middle East and burrowing deeply into my shell.

Yeeouch! What in blazes was that!? There was scarcely any buildup to that incantation, and it streaked so incredibly swift I couldn't track it! How is that just? If it launches without warning at bullet-like velocity, shouldn't it sacrifice piercing force or the like? How, by all that's gleaming, did it breach my radiant carapace?!

At this juncture, I must appreciate a couple of factors. Primarily, the spear isn't solid matter, but a construct of pure energy, so after searing viciously within me, it dissipates entirely, allowing me to rise from the soil, quite irritated.

Additionally, Tiny devoted a solid five minutes prior to my ascent pummeling me at his utmost speed. Which is impressively rapid. Though the relief had begun to wane by the time I nearly became shish kebab, my body remains flooded with restorative essence.

Chilling fluid courses through my form, flooding toward the injury site and mending the harm in mere seconds.

Heheheheh. Tough luck, losers! You'll need far more than that. A lot more than that.

My thoughts keep whirling, and an Enhanced Gravity Domain unfurls around me at the core. The troops draw nearer now. Time to clash directly.
