Beast Taming Patrol Chapter 9: Chapter 3 Xue Henqing (Seeking Investment and Followers)_2

Previously on Beast Taming Patrol...
The students of Green Eagle Senior High School have arrived at the breeding area for their initial beast allocation, a pivotal moment that determines their future as official Beast Tamers. While his classmates rush to secure powerful species, Lin Su remains preoccupied by the discovery that his beast space unexpectedly upgraded to the second order overnight. Struggling to distinguish between a vivid dream and a potential reality, he enters the park to select a lifelong partner while questioning the nature of his strange experiences.

If the ability to traverse between worlds ever vanishes, the most significant gain from this mystical ordeal is undoubtedly the promotion of my Beast Taming Space to the second level. While advancing from the first to the second level isn't an insurmountable task, it typically requires several months of diligent training under normal circumstances.

A Beast Tamer possessing a first-level Beast Taming Space is restricted to a single contract, and the space can only support a pet beast up to the juvenile stage. Reaching the second level doesn't grant Lin Su the ability to form more contracts yet, but it does raise the limit, allowing his pet beasts to reach the elite stage of growth.

Consequently, Lin Su is now officially qualified to form contracts with elite stage pet beasts directly.

The problem, however, is that elite stage creatures are far more costly than those in the juvenile stage. Even for juvenile beasts of elite species, the price tag was barely within his reach; purchasing an actual elite stage beast was out of the question. This made the immediate advantages of a second-level Beast Taming Space feel somewhat redundant.

It was like a chicken rib—tasteless to eat, yet a pity to discard.

Nevertheless, if Lin Su could maintain his travels between the two dimensions, the entire situation would change drastically.

By analyzing his two experiences, Lin Su deduced that these journeys were not physical. Instead, it was his consciousness and his Beast Taming Space being transported across worlds.

Given that the Beast Taming Space resides within the brain realm, it stands to reason that it would move alongside his soul.

Based on this logic, Lin Su formulated a theory regarding the sudden level-up of his Beast Taming Space.

The original Lin Su of the God Martial World possessed a Beast Taming Space, just as the Lin Su of Blue Star did. When he traveled and occupied the body of the God Martial Lin Su, the original soul vanished, but the space remained. The fusion of these two Beast Taming Spaces likely triggered the immediate breakthrough to the second level.

This led to a crucial question: could the pet beasts housed within the Beast Taming Space also be transported?

Should this be possible, and if Lin Su continues to bridge both worlds, he could contract high-grade species in the God Martial World—creatures not restricted by the Alien Beast Ban—and bring them back to Blue Star. This would not only solve his supply issues but also grant him a significantly more powerful initial pet beast.

If this theory proves true, the world-traveling ability would serve as an incredibly potent Golden Finger for Lin Su.

Lost in these possibilities, the free initial pet beast allocation he had once anticipated so eagerly suddenly felt far less significant.

This internal distraction was the reason he had been so preoccupied throughout the journey.

Zhao Qingsong frowned upon hearing Lin Su’s casual response.

To him, the boy didn't look "fine" at all.

Recognizing that Lin Su wasn't in the mood to explain, Zhao Qingsong didn't push further. He simply gave Lin Su’s shoulder a supportive pat. "You understand how vital the initial pet beast is for a Beast Tamer's career. Even if the Green Feathered Eagle is out of reach, you must be extremely deliberate with your choice."

"I understand," Lin Su replied, his heart warmed by the teacher's genuine concern. "Thank you, Teacher."

Even though his discovery of the world-traveling ability meant his criteria for a pet beast had shifted from his original plans, he was still touched by the sincerity of the man’s advice.

"Go on then, get inside." Zhao Qingsong waved him off and turned back toward the park's exit.

Lin Su didn't linger. He increased his pace and soon crossed into the breeding garden's interior.

The breeding garden was less of a farm and more of a specialized zoo. It was divided into various zones designed to mimic the natural habitats of different pet beasts, providing them with the perfect environments to grow and breed.

Because these creatures were bred to be docile toward humans, there were no restrictive fences. Prospective Beast Tamers were free to wander through the habitats, interacting with the cubs to find a partner that resonated with them.

Lin Su found a bench along a quiet path and sat down. Rather than rushing to find a beast, he spiraled back into his thoughts.

If cross-world travel remained an option, then the elite species available here weren't actually his best bet. He could theoretically skip this allocation and wait to contract a high-grade species cub from the God Martial Continent.

The risk, however, was the uncertainty of his next journey. If he passed on this free allocation and found himself unable to return to the other world, he would be forced to buy a cub on the open market with his own funds.

His meager savings wouldn't cover the cost of a high-quality beast, and he couldn't earn enough quickly. Such a setback could delay his first contract and even jeopardize his chances of entering a Beast Tamer University.

The potential reward was massive, but the risk was equally daunting.

'Is there a middle ground?' Lin Su wondered, his brow furrowed in concentration.

"Meow~(^ω^)ฅ"

A soft, high-pitched cry drifted from his side, breaking his concentration.

He turned to see a tiny creature, and a rare look of genuine delight and amazement crossed his face.

It was an adorable kitten, small and covered in plush, snow-white fur. The fur around its neck was particularly thick, looking exactly like a fluffy white scarf. Its eyes were a striking icy blue, reminiscent of deep glaciers, and a tiny ice flower marking sat perfectly on its forehead. Its thin tail was curled elegantly behind it.

This was a Snow Trace Light, a high-level elite race of the ice element.

The species was a specialty of the Yanhuang Alliance, originally discovered in the snowy reaches of the old Tibetan region. Following its discovery, it had been successfully bred in large numbers and was now popular throughout both the Yanhuang Alliance and the neighboring Holy Alliance.

Lin Su was struck by how beautiful the creature was. Despite his usually reserved nature, he felt an immediate urge to scoop it up and pet that soft, white fur.

What truly surprised him, however, was the kitten's behavior, which deviated from the norm for its kind.

Snow Trace Lights were famously timid, aloof, and wary of strangers. While some personality variation existed, most were quite distant. Yet, this little one showed no fear at all. After locking eyes with Lin Su, it began to waddle toward him with clumsy confidence.

Snow Trace Light: Human, I want a cuddle! (ฅ´ω` )ฅ

As it walked, faint snowflake patterns appeared beneath its paws. This was the racial Talent Skill: Snow Trace. It granted them a graceful gait, and at higher levels, it allowed them to move across snow without leaving a single print—the origin of their name.

"Well, aren't you something..." Lin Su couldn't resist holding out his hand. He watched as the kitten scrambled into his palm, then he lifted it up and began to stroke its fur gently.

The Snow Trace Light leaned into his touch with an expression of pure bliss, its beautiful eyes fixed on Lin Su.

The snowflake patterns from its Snow Trace skill bloomed in his hand; they weren't freezing, but rather offered a refreshing, pleasant coolness. The sensation of the silky fur against his skin was incredibly soothing, deepening Lin Su's affection for the little beast.

Then, he let out a quiet sigh.

It was a shame. This little creature was not a suitable candidate for a contract.

It wasn't that the Snow Trace Light was weak—being a high-level elite race put it just below the leading races, and it possessed both immense beauty and a powerful core skill, Frost Storm.

The problem was that this species was one of the few that had no known evolutionary path.

While many other elite races started weak, human researchers had discovered stable ways to evolve them into leading races, or even monarch species through multiple evolutions, allowing them to transcend their humble origins. However, the Snow Trace Light remained stagnant; it would never be more than a high-level elite race.

Even with the best resources, it might push its growth limit to the leader class, but the monarch class was a biological impossibility.

Because of this, while they were popular, few serious Beast Tamers chose them for a contract. Most people simply kept them as ordinary pets without forming a formal bond...

Wait a minute...

Keeping it as a pet, without a contract?

Lin Su’s hand stopped mid-stroke.

He realized he might have just found the perfect compromise.
