Beast Taming Patrol Chapter 10: Chapter 4 Sympathy in Fate (Seeking Investment and Followers)

Previously on Beast Taming Patrol...
Lin Su has discovered that his Beast Taming Space upgraded to the second level following his soul-merging travel between worlds, potentially allowing him to contract elite-stage beasts. While he weighs the risky possibility of bringing high-grade creatures back from the God Martial World, he arrives at the breeding garden for his initial pet allocation. There, he encounters a rare and affectionate Snow Trace Light, a beautiful high-level elite species that lacks a known evolutionary path. Captivated by the creature but hesitant to use his contract on a beast with limited growth potential, Lin Su begins to formulate a compromise that could bridge his two worlds.

Certain pets possess temperaments that require a period of bonding with a Beast Tamer following the initial pet allocation. In these cases, a contract is typically only formed once a solid emotional foundation has been established between the two.

Because of these specific needs, the initial pet allocation serves merely as a preliminary agreement or intent to form a contract between the Beast Tamer and the creature.

Once the breeding fees are settled, the Beast Tamer is permitted to take the pet home, as there is no strict deadline for when the actual contract must be finalized.

Explicit regulations also exist for the initial pet allocation process in the event that a Beast Tamer is unable to successfully form a contract after bringing the pet home.

The bond between humans and pets is defined as a partnership rather than a relationship of subjugation or slavery.

Since pets are not considered human property, they cannot be privately resold or abandoned if a contract fails to manifest. Instead, they must be returned to the appropriate breeding park for continued care, though the initial breeding fees paid by the Beast Tamer are non-refundable.

Under these rules, Lin Su realized he could theoretically select a pet to take home. If he concluded that he could no longer travel, he would proceed with the contract; however, if he regained the ability to travel, he could simply return the creature to the breeding park.

While this would result in losing the breeding fee, it was a cost Lin Su was willing to pay to avoid the risk of hindering his Beast Tamer University application.

A look of relief finally washed over his face as he came to this realization.

Looking down at the Xue Henqing resting comfortably in his arms with its eyes closed in bliss, Lin Su whispered, "Little guy, you've really helped me solve a major dilemma."

"Meow? (。òωó。)" (What dilemma?)

Opening its icy blue eyes, the Xue Henqing stared at Lin Su with a look of pure confusion.

From its perspective, it hadn't done anything besides curl up in this human's lap and enjoy a massage.

"It's nothing," Lin Su said with a soft laugh as he rose from his seat.

His next task was to locate his initial pet.

Even if the pet he chose might not end up being contracted, the possibility still existed, so he needed to choose carefully rather than acting on a whim.

Regarding the Xue Henqing currently resting against him...

Lin Su met those icy blue eyes with a helpless expression. "Little guy, if only you were capable of evolution."

He truly enjoyed the personality of this Xue Henqing. If there were any chance it could evolve into a leader of its species, Lin Su would have gladly chosen it as his secondary option.

Unfortunately, the species' natural limitation—being forever capped at the higher elite level—meant the Xue Henqing had very low cultivation value.

Sensing Lin Su's thoughts, the Xue Henqing blinked and its expression quickly shifted to one of sorrow, its head drooping low.

It felt rejected (*꒦ິω꒦ີ)

Watching the creature's ears sag and the light fade from its beautiful eyes, Lin Su felt an unexpected pang of guilt. He hurried to comfort it, "Little guy, don't cry. I'll take you back home first."

The Xue Henqing breeding area was quite a distance away, and he had no idea how this little creature had managed to wander off.

Upon hearing that Lin Su would escort her home, the Xue Henqing's mood seemed to steady. She rubbed against his hand and let out a soft, emotional trill.

"Meow…" (Alright then…)

Relieved that the creature was no longer so dejected, Lin Su checked his map for the Xue Henqing breeding area and began walking toward it, continuing to soothe the little one along the way.

Five minutes later, Lin Su arrived at the entrance of the breeding area with the small creature still in his arms.

He had spent the walk trying to cheer it up, even telling a couple of jokes. Whether the creature understood him or not, it certainly seemed much happier now.

The Xue Henqing breeding area was crowded with students—more so than other elite species sections.

However, the majority of the visitors were female students who seemed less interested in choosing a partner and more interested in simply petting the cats.

Given how adorable the Xue Henqing were, this wasn't surprising.

Turning his attention back to the creature in his arms, Lin Su looked down.

He had planned to drop the little one off and immediately go search for a suitable pet for himself.

Yet, even though they had reached its home, the creature seemed unwilling to let go, leaving Lin Su in a bit of a predicament.

He realized he would have to ask a staff member for assistance.

Just then, he spotted a young woman wearing a staff badge nearby who appeared to be searching for something.

Lin Su approached her quickly. "Excuse me…"

The young woman, who wore glasses and had a quiet, pretty face, turned toward him. Her eyes immediately landed on the creature in his arms, and a joyful smile broke across her face. "Qiuqiu! There you are! You've finally been found!"

Qiuqiu? Was that the little one's name?

Looking at the creature curled up like a tiny ball of fur, Lin Su decided the name was very appropriate.

It was clear that Qiuqiu and the young woman were well-acquainted. The creature's mood brightened instantly, and it squirmed in Lin Su's arms to wave a paw at her.

The woman expertly gathered Qiuqiu into her arms and began to play with it, a look of pure adoration on her face.

She quickly remembered she wasn't alone, blushing slightly. After clearing her throat, she looked at Lin Su. "Hello, I'm Xu Jiajia, one of the breeders for the Xue Henqing area. Could you tell me where you came across Qiuqiu?"
