"Young Master, are you saying that you have lost your memory?"
Leaning against the headboard, Lin Su nodded with a sense of helplessness toward the frowning middle-aged man who had just questioned him.
Upon first waking up, he assumed he was the victim of a sleeping prank. However, as a middle-aged couple claiming to be his parents burst into the room with frantic excitement and concern, Lin Su realized the situation was far more serious.
He had undergone a translocation of souls.
To make matters worse, his current body seemed to possess no memories of its former life, and he had been forced to face his closest relatives immediately after crossing over.
With no chance to offer vague excuses, he was left with no choice but to bluntly declare that he suffered from amnesia.
The man questioning him was a family physician named Ye, whom his parents had summoned the moment they heard of his condition.
After a brief moment of reflection, Doctor Ye turned his attention to Lin Su’s parents. "Master, Madam, while I have never seen the Young Master in such a state, amnesia is a condition of the spirit. It could potentially be linked to the Beast Taming Space. I possess a pet beast capable of soothing the soul; perhaps we should see if it can provide any relief?"
Lin Su remained quiet, but his mind began to race.
Beast Taming Space? Pet beasts?
These terms were incredibly familiar to him.
Was it possible that this world utilized powers identical to those of a Beast Tamer?
Lin Su’s father gave a slight frown before nodding. "Proceed with the attempt."
The decision was made, and Lin Su offered no opposition.
He was curious to discover what the pet beasts of this realm were actually like.
Doctor Ye looked at him and cautioned, "Young Master Lin, please remain calm when I summon my pet beast."
As he finished speaking, glowing lights began to swirl at his feet, weaving into intricate, sky-blue patterns upon the floor.
Sky blue... a fifth-tier Beast Taming Space?
Could this man be a master-level Beast Tamer?
Lin Su’s thoughts whirled, and a moment later, his pupils constricted slightly.
Following a burst of light, a small, humanoid alien beast materialized. It possessed a human-like shape with eyes and a nose but lacked a mouth, its three-foot-tall frame glowing with a crystal-like clarity. It wore a wide-brimmed witch hat with a large bell hanging from the peak.
This was none other than...
A mid-ranking sovereign species known as the Whispering Bell!
Because the Beast Taming Space of a minor is unstable and their contracted beasts can be temperamental, high school students under eighteen focus entirely on theoretical studies regarding alien beasts.
It is only during their final year, upon turning eighteen, that apprentice Beast Tamers are permitted by the school to form contracts and become official Beast Tamers.
Even though he hadn't contracted a beast yet, Lin Su was an expert on every known species.
Looking at the creature before him, he was struck by a wave of shock.
The Whispering Bell did not evolve from a lower-tier creature; it was a natural-born mid-ranking sovereign species. On Blue Star, such creatures fell under the Alien Beast Ban, making it impossible to form a contract with them.
Yet, in this world, Beast Tamers seemed to have no such restrictions. Even more baffling was the fact that this world shared the exact same species as his previous life.
The lack of restrictions could be attributed to different world laws, but how could the identical species be explained?
A piece of information he had read just before his soul crossed over suddenly surfaced in his mind.
"Researcher Qin claimed that if a Ghost Energy Stone appeared in a world with different biology than Blue Star, identical alien beast populations would likely manifest..."
Was this the reason?
If true, did it mean every species from Blue Star existed here, free to be contracted by anyone?
This theory caused a storm of emotion in Lin Su’s mind, and his face shifted visibly. His parents, who were watching him intently, immediately noticed his reaction, their expressions becoming thoughtful.
Once the Whispering Bell was fully summoned, Doctor Ye gave a command: "Silent Bell."
Whispering Bell: "Ding-a-ling (≧≦)ノ"
The bell atop its hat vibrated softly, sending visible sound ripples through the air. As the waves passed through people, their hearts grew still and their anxieties faded away.
Predictably, his lost memories did not return, but the Silent Bell succeeded in calming Lin Su’s frantic mind.
To survive here, he needed to rely on these parents. He had to ensure they never suspected he was a transmigrator who had replaced their son rather than a simple amnesiac.
He would have to take everything else one step at a time.
"Xiao Su, do you feel any better? Has anything come back to you?" his mother asked, her voice trembling with anxiety.
His name was the same in this world, which made his transition much smoother.
"Mother, I am sorry. I still cannot recall anything from the past," Lin Su replied, shaking his head and doing his best to look dejected by his failure to remember.
"If you can't remember, then so be it. We can tell you stories of the past, and eventually, the memories will return," Lin Su’s father said, offering a forced but comforting smile.
Sensing their genuine devotion, Lin Su’s heart warmed with an affection he had lacked since his own childhood.
