Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1224: Drained

Previously on Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy...
The students coordinated their assault on Eryn, the Treant guardian, using morphing forms and environmental tactics to test his defenses, gradually forcing him to expend more Arcane Energy despite his skilled counters. Amaya in lynx form, Vin diving from above, Brannic pushing a boulder, and the mole clawing at roots below struck in unison, creating openings in Eryn's bark and earning his measured praise for their teamwork. As Eryn relaxed, believing the lesson concluded, the three prodigies revealed their hidden potential by transforming into demon-like states—Amaya as a Demon Huntress, Vin as a Winged Serpent Demon, and Brannic as a Demon Juggernaut—launching a sudden, ferocious attack that shattered branches and roots, shocking the arena crowd.

As soon as Amaya, Vin, and Brannic unveiled their demonic appearances, pandemonium exploded across the arena.

Shouts of surprise, yells, and murmurs echoed everywhere.

"Demons...!" a student shouted, pulling back in terror.

"Unbelievable... they've gotten hold of Demon Blood?" someone else blurted out, their tone shaky. After all, Demon Blood proved hard to obtain. Plus, demons left no blood behind if they perished. Capturing one alive was the sole method to secure it!

Certain students gaped in astonishment, stunned by their boldness.

Some scowled, rejecting the decision outright. In their view, demons represented pure evil, nothing worth accepting.

Still, jealousy flickered in the audience. Several gripped their hands tightly, envious that these talented youths had seized such taboo might.

A handful more murmured in wonder, their respect barely concealed.

"They're crazy," a young man grumbled, shaking his head. "But check out that power..."

"They'll exhaust themselves," a girl remarked, even as desire shone in her gaze. "Yet... I wish I could transform like that."

Professor Paterson stayed quiet, however. Transformation Artists viewed every shape as mere instruments, so this didn't bother him one bit.

"So... you've picked this route," Eryn stated.

"We aim to test our limits against the Asura's disciple." Amaya responded.

"And this is our only option." Vin chimed in while balling his hand.

"No holding back now." Brannic declared, sounding like he'd been restraining himself before.

The fight resumed immediately.

The Demon Huntress struck first. Amaya's claws tore into the bark with blinding speed... This attack outpaced anything her lynx shape had managed.

She darted between shadows, evading the thrashing limbs that couldn't touch her.

Next, Vin's wings flapped with tainted power...

Moments later, dark plumes flew apart as purple fire erupted, trailed by slashing gusts!

Ssakk! Ssakk!

Brannic rushed forward then. His Juggernaut build looked far more robust, and before long, his skeletal gloves pounded the trunk with crushing impact.

Boom! Boom!

Every hit rattled the arena, and cracks soon spiderwebbed over the stone surface.

Eryn stumbled under the multi-sided barrage.

His treant frame creaked from the onslaught, limbs breaking off, tendrils shattering, leaving him in dire straits.

After all, he'd selected this shape to level the field with the pupils, instilling lessons in equilibrium and restraint. Yet facing demon blood, restraint meant nothing.

Nevertheless, he countered fiercely.

Vines burst forth, lashing the field, limbs colliding against magical barriers.

Bam!

He pounded the earth, unleashing quakes to throw off their balance. Afterward, his outer layer toughened, shimmering softly with Arcane Energy.

Yet the demons chuckled.

Amaya bounded high. Her claws then ripped apart his barriers. "Professor! Are we performing better now?!"

Vin dove down, his wings severing the vines. "Please refrain from using Divinity on us, okay?"

Brannic bellowed too, battering the reinforced shell. "Quit teasing the Professor!"

He understood the reason those two appeared so playful. It stemmed from the Demon Essence fueling their shift. Gradually, it was warping their thoughts.

Naturally, Eryn had no issue with it. Regarding Divinity, though accessible, he'd never deploy it versus pupils. Besides, he couldn't generate it himself. Any Divinity within him came solely from their master. Depleted reserves stayed gone forever without fresh supply from the master.

But in this mortal world, replenishing Divinity proved incredibly tough.

"No need to fret... I'll claim victory yet." Eryn whispered, but the trio apparently missed his words.

Meanwhile, the spectators held their breath, witnessing Eryn pushed purely on the defense.

In truth, Eryn merely pondered the extent of force to unleash or if switching from his Treant form made sense.

Following brief reflection, he decided.

"I won't fall to mere kids!" he bellowed.

Limbs whipped wildly, snaring Amaya, deflecting Vin's plunge, shoving Brannic away.

Bam! Bam! Bam!

Vines erupted, coiling the mole and rock, hauling them off. Poof!

The final pair reverted to human shapes and got disqualified.

However, the three demons rose anew and charged right back!

Amaya pushed her speed harder, gradually peeling the Treant's covering.

Vin targeted severing minor limbs too, aiming to erode Eryn bit by bit. Meanwhile, Brannic kept up his relentless pounding with those gloves breaching the barriers.

United, they assaulted

Bang!

Eryn's shell cracked open, resin flowing like vital fluid. His treant frame quivered. Quickly, leaves showered down from Vin's relentless strikes.

The audience burst into uproar. A portion roared in approval, unable to deny the impressive might of youths their age! Yet other pupils hoped they'd stumble or suffer severe wounds here!

"They're dominating him!"

"Demons... their power's overwhelming!"

"Hmph... Just flaunting it all."

At that point, Professor Paterson's gaze sharpened. He recognized the peril. Demonic shapes held immense strength, yet remained volatile. The youths weren't merely depleting Arcane Energy at a frantic rate. Prolonged use might embed the Demon Essence too deeply within them past the safe duration.

"Tsk..."

Eryn clenched his jaw instead. Though not his peak form, he wouldn't suffer disgrace. He channeled extra Arcane Energy into his vines, compelling them to thrust forward at bizarre velocity. Limbs slashed like swords as vines hammered like mallets.

The field grew even wilder, though the three Demons held their own admirably.

Their teamwork shone without flaw...

Time dragged on with neither side yielding. Sadly, the pupils began to flag.

Amaya's red shine dimmed as Vin's wings shook and dropped to the floor... Brannic's gloves even fractured now...

Soon enough, Eryn understood he needed to halt the offensive.

Eryn noticed it. His emerald eyes tightened. "You're all remarkable... But avoid descending into insanity. Reserve Demonification for true need."

The trio shared looks and agreed with nods.

"Yes!"

With that, their demonic states crumbled. They dropped to all fours, gasping for air, perspiration pouring, Arcane Energy utterly spent.
