Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1192: Avatar
Previously on Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy...
Chad understood his mission instantly.
Speed was of the essence! Within moments, his dragon blood boiled, and his aura surged outward to encompass the entire Academy. He had no alternative; he was forced to handle this crisis personally.
The possessed students began to congregate, their limbs twitching with unnatural movements. Their voices dropped to a guttural pitch, sounding as though they echoed from the pits of hell.
"Marshall Academy... belongs to us..." they chanted in a haunting unison.
With glowing black eyes, they pressed forward, conjuring corrupted spells in their palms. Fireballs warped into flickering black flames, ice shards wept with shadows, and psychic ripples carried the taint of insanity.
The faculty fought to restrain the tide. Professor Kayla, a Grandmaster Arcanist, hoisted her staff and erected a shimmering barrier to shield the underclassmen. "Get behind me!" she commanded.
Yet, the possessed horde remained relentless.
Chad let out a thunderous roar, his draconic aura erupting in a violent blast.
The spirits let out piercing shrieks as his presence scorched them, forcing several to recoil. Utilizing his Draconic Energy, he manifested a wing and dove headlong into the chaos...
"Clear out of my Academy!"
He struck a possessed Third-Class Arcanist, his claw of pure energy plunging straight into the spirit lurking within.
The student slumped to the ground, unconscious but finally liberated.
By channeling his Divinity through Draconic Sight and True Strike, he ensured his attacks bypassed the students' physical forms, targeting only the Evil Spirits nestled in their bodies.
A different spirit lunged at him, attempting to weave a curse.
Chad’s scales hardened instantly, causing the dark magic to deflect harmlessly. It appeared his dragon scales were formidable against more than just physical strikes.
He retaliated with a localized burst of draconic flame, turning the spirit to ash without singing the host.
'It worked...' Chad thought, feeling a wave of relief. He had been concerned the fire might harm the student, but this success was a promising start.
However, the sheer number of enemies was overwhelming.
Pandemonium took hold of the lecture halls. Students clashed in the corridors while the possessed unleashed wild magic. Tomes were reduced to ash, walls began to crumble, and the internal wards of the Academy groaned under the relentless pressure.
Professor Kayla called out to her fellow Grandmasters, "We have to hold the line until Chad can exorcise these spirits!"
Regrettably, the Grandmaster-Class Arcanists lacked an efficient way to extract Evil Spirits from living hosts.
While they possessed the power to subdue and defeat the students, their techniques lacked the precision and safety of Chad’s draconic methods.
They watched with grimace as the students they struck appeared to be in agonizing pain.
Realizing this, they were forced to pull their punches, struggling to restrain their own pupils without causing permanent damage.
Professor Dalton Stranway gave a grim nod. "If this possession continues to spread, the Academy is lost!"
Chad knew the situation was dire. He needed to accelerate his efforts.
He gripped his talisman once more, transmitting a desperate message.
"Vale... if you can receive this, the Academy is under siege. Evil Spirits are everywhere. I’m holding them off, but I don’t know for how long! I need reinforcements..."
Silence was his only reply. Vale’s Avatar was too distant, preoccupied with his own mission. As for the true Vale, reaching him inside the Immortal Tower was impossible. He was reportedly in a state of high-stakes meditation, and Chad did not dare risk disturbing such a delicate process.
Chad clenched his jaw. "Then I’ll do it alone."
The Half-Dragon Immortal surrendered to his instincts, unleashing his full aura.
His stature expanded, scales rippling across his neck and arms as his eyes blazed with draconic light.
"Spirits! You dare defile this sanctuary?!"
The Evil Spirits shrieked in response, their cries vibrating through the halls. While some recoiled in fear, others were driven into a frenzy, forcing their hosts into even more violent behavior.
Chad tore into the thickest part of the crowd, his Draconic Energy claws shredding through the spectral forms.
Every blow carried a purifying flame that burned the spirits out of their human shells.
One by one, students collapsed, freed from the possession but drained of all strength.
Only the Dark Arts Students managed to maintain some semblance of composure, having frequently dealt with the rigors of Darkness Possession in their studies.
"Hold your ground!" Chad bellowed to the staff. "Protect those who aren't turned! I'll take care of the rest!"
The conflict persisted for hours.
Fueled by his dragon blood, Chad fought without pause.
He used claw, flame, and roar to purge spirit after spirit. The professors maintained a defensive perimeter, safeguarding the younger children as the Academy grounds shook from the collision of Immortal power and tainted souls.

Meanwhile, as the faculty and Chad struggled against the spectral tide, three of Vale’s Avatars had already commenced their covert operations.
They had emerged from the Immortal Tower under Vale’s direct orders to safeguard the school.
Despite his deep meditation to heal his fractured soul, Vale remained tethered to the outside world. His delayed response was only due to the delicate task of splitting his soul to create another Avatar—a critical procedure that required absolute focus.
The First Avatar was currently on a hunt.
Moving through the city like a living shadow, the Avatar bypassed the chaos. His eyes shimmered as he tracked the lingering scent of corrupted energy.
Eventually, he came to a halt before a dilapidated warehouse.
The atmosphere here was thick enough to choke a normal human. A toxic miasma radiated from the interior, and at the heart of the structure lay a massive rift in reality.
"Found it," he whispered.
Black fog billowed from the tear, and with every rhythmic pulse, more Evil Spirits clawed their way into the world.
The Avatar’s lips curled into a smile upon locating the source. "A spatial crack. This was opened with intent."
He drew near, his fingers grazing the jagged, unstable perimeter of the rift. The raw energy seered his skin.
"This wasn't an accident. The Academy's wards should have neutralized this. That means..." He lowered his voice. "It’s an inside job. Someone with deep knowledge of the Shadow Domain sabotaged the barrier. Fascinating."
The Avatar raised his hand, utilizing his Divinity to dampen the energy flow. Though he wasn't a specialist in spatial or Arcane magic of this branch, he could at least suppress the breach.
"Sealing this will be a slow process... but I can stop the reinforcements."
Unfortunately, Cyper and the other Time Manipulators and Immortals aligned with him were occupied with a clandestine mission of their own. Their task was too vital to interrupt.
He would have to handle this on his own.
Pressing his palm against the void, he unleashed a surge of Divinity. The crack resisted, let out a sentient-sounding screech, but the influx of spirits finally ground to a halt.
"That should contain them. Whoever is behind this... I will hunt you down."

Elsewhere, far from the Academy, the second Avatar sprinted through the streets, his form blurring between shadows.
A cloaked figure fled desperately ahead of him, trying to outrun the reach of the Shadow Domain.
The Avatar’s gaze locked onto a shimmering mark on the runner's back—the brand of Divine Sense.
"You can try to run, but you're already caught," the Avatar murmured.
The fugitive glanced over his shoulder, eyes wide with terror. He threw up barriers, cast illusions, and used speed-enhancing spells, but the Avatar sliced through the obstructions effortlessly.
"Who is your master?" the Avatar demanded.
He had a few theories, though he refrained from jumping to conclusions.
As anticipated, the culprit remained silent, pushing his body to the limit as forbidden runes began to glow on his skin.
'Runes? Are you trying to distract me?' Vale thought. The activation of the runes felt forced, a clumsy attempt to frame a Runemaster for the crime.
The Avatar remained unperturbed.
'You are marked. No matter where you hide outside this Domain, your soul is branded. We will find you.'
He raised his hand, casting a wave of shadow to ensnare the fugitive. The figure stumbled, nearly losing his footing.
Suddenly, the man produced a crystal vibrating with volatile energy, forcing Vale to check his advance.
'A Divine Crystal turned into a bomb?' Vale wondered. He realized the device posed a significant threat to both the area and himself.
While the second Avatar weighed his options against the potential culprit, the third Avatar manifested within the Academy grounds.
He observed Chad battling in the courtyard. The Half-Dragon was powerful, but he couldn't be everywhere at once.
In the eastern wing, students were screaming as high-tier spirits shattered their defensive barriers.
The Avatar raised his arm. "Purification."
A brilliant wave of light erupted from his hand, washing over the possessed. The spirits howled, sensing their imminent incineration.
Terrified, the spirits attempted to flee the hosts' bodies to avoid the holy light. Some tried to use the students' own spells as shields, but their resistance was futile.
Though the process was meticulous, Vale began to systematically defeat them.
"Tsk..."
Vale was dissatisfied with the pace of the exorcism.
'I have no choice. I have to end this now,' the Avatar thought. He decided to sacrifice half of his remaining Divinity to invoke a massive Celestial Art.
