Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1158 1158: The Gift
Vale couldn't help but smile since Jody's work was certainly important in order to spread their reputation. After all, he was still considered a Dark Arts Practitioner.
No matter how many years had passed, their practices that looked cruel would never be accepted as something normal. This was especially true if they learned about their Dark Alchemy practice, where they would have to ignore some basic human rights, dead or alive, in order to train themselves.
There was also the Corruption Branch that leans towards death and destruction, which wouldn't go well with the public… Of course, there were many other things, and because of that, someone like Jody, who was spreading positive messages to the public, like how they were fighting against the invasion, helping eliminate Evil Spirits, and many others…
"Since you're doing a great job helping my territory's reputation, I must give you a reward." Vale mused.
He knew very well that the other Factions or large organizations must also be relying on Jody's information about the Marshall Academy. Perhaps, she had unknowingly assisted his Academy in attracting a lot of genius students.
There was no way he'd ignore her contribution.
Vale considered carefully what kind of reward Jody deserved.
He opened his storage ring, and within its incredibly huge space lay mountains of artifacts, spirit herbs, spellbooks, and countless treasures gathered over years of conquest and purchase…
Soon, his attention stopped on weapons and rare tomes, but he dismissed them. Jody was not a warrior, nor an Arcanist who would wield destructive power. She was an Editor‑in‑Chief, a seeker of information, constantly gathering data in dangerous places. What she needed was protection…
"Mhmm… Let's see…"
Vale had to take some time looking through his endless treasures within his storage ring. Defensive artifacts were immediately showing in his mind…
He first checked a pendant of ironwood. It was called the Ironleaf Pendant. Its surface had faint runes, but the quality was only Noble grade. Still, it could deflect curses and shield against minor elemental strikes, but it was far too ordinary for someone like Jody.
He then set it aside.
Next came a pair of heavy bracers, the Stonehide Bracers… It was forged to harden the wearer's skin against blades and arrows. It was practical for soldiers, but cumbersome for a woman who lived by her pen and wit.
'It wouldn't suit her…' Vale thought as he dismissed them as well.
A cloak followed, the Spy Cloak, made from an enchanted fabric that would shroud its wearer in mist when danger approached. Concealment was useful, but it offered little true defense. Still, it would be a good addition to her reward since it was a Royal Grade Artifact.
Vale then continued looking for stronger artifacts while Jody was just curiously looking at the handsome Immortal...
Soon, Vale found a golden ring, the Aegis Ring. It was capable of conjuring a translucent barrier to block advanced spells. There was also a talisman, the Phoenix Feather Amulet, with restorative power that was able to heal burns and restore vitality once a day.
Then, a charm of silver, the Silver Protection Emblem, that works really well against elemental, mystical, and dark arts.
Finally, Vale found a few Sovereign-grade artifacts just buried in his Storage ring...
There was a shard of volcanic crystal, the Obsidian Wall Talisman, that could summon a towering wall to block attacks.
There was also a damaged Holy Mirror that he obtained in the Holy Arts Tower. It could reflect hostile spells back at their caster. At the moment, the quality was only Sovereign Grade, but if it was not damaged, it was definitely a Celestial-grade Artifact.
Of course, there were also those Magnus himself had created…
There was a shield carved from dragonbone, the Dragonbone Shield. It could absorb immense force. But it was too heavy, too conspicuous, or too unpredictable for Jody's needs.
Vale sighed as he took out the Spy Cloak… Still, she needed something simple, subtle, yet useful…
With that thought, Vale reached deeper into the ring and drew out a Divine Crystal…
As soon as he took it out, Jody felt the immense power coming from it.
She saw its surface glowing faintly with threads of divinity, and it was an incredible sight!
"Beautiful…" She whispered.
Vale just smiled while holding it in his palm. Then, he activated his Rune Arts.
The surrounding energy circulated as he invoked his Rune Creation Spell. Symbols of ancient power spiraled around the crystal, merging themselves into a single Rune. Slowly, the crystal reshaped, molded by his will into a Protection Rune.
This was no ordinary spell.
It was already within his Perfect Realm Spell or a Level 10 Rune Spell!
As long as the divinity within the crystal remained, even Grand Arcanists would struggle to kill her. Against Immortals, it would not make her invincible, but it could allow her to survive an attack or two — enough to escape, enough to endure.
Vale closed his hand, sealing the rune's power, then placed it before Jody. It would have been easier if he could have used his Divine Extraction System's feature, but since he was only an Avatar, he had to resort to this technique instead.
"This is for you… The crystal can protect you from enemies while the cloak helps you hide your presence..." he said simply while showing the cloak and the crystal.
He did not explain the crystal's full capabilities.
To burden her with knowledge of its strength might pressure her instead, and that was not his intent. She might think that it would be too precious to be used after all.
To him, it was just a gift. It was just to ensure that she would not fall easily while working with the New Era Chronicle she established.
"Haha! Since we're friends, I'll accept it!"
Jody's eyes widened as she accepted it without hesitation.
After that, Vale finally rose.
He needed to go to the Ashen Plains and perhaps get that Fire Stone for his Academy before the Void Immortal could.
