Arcane Academy: The Divine Extraction Legacy Chapter 1155: World News

Vale was aware of the Void Immortal’s presence in this realm, thanks to Maya’s reminder. Yet, rather than approaching him as expected, since the Immortal supposedly had a request to make, the figure chose to conceal himself instead.

His actions were quite confusing. However, the Void Immortal probably just lied to Maya, or something more important came up that he couldn’t show himself...

As the Avatar stepped into the building, he realized the aura he had sensed, which he thought might belong to the Void Immortal, was nothing more than lingering traces of energy.

’He’s no longer here... But why did he come here in the first place?’ The Avatar mused as he looked around.

The New Era Chronicle was actually quite busy. A lot of people were moving around, giving reports, and passing information. The scribes were drafting articles, editors reviewing various documents, and he also saw those enchanted presses churning out sheets of fresh ink.

Vale’s eyes narrowed slightly behind the monocle. He had expected a professional operation, but what caught him off guard was the name on the registry board inside the lobby.

Editor-in-Chief: Jody Lombarde.

Vale paused.

Memories came flooding in as he recalled that name...

Jody Lombarde chose the Dark Magic Branch of the Dark Arts, and she was certainly good at it. He thought that she would continue to pursue the Dark Path because of that, and perhaps become Artifact Expert, Ritual Designer, Occult Consultant, or even Paranormal Investigator...

However, now that he thinks about it, Jody was actually part of the Academy Publication Club!

Indeed, while Vale at that time joined the Battle Arena Committee, Jody had certainly joined the Publication Club and had been making news articles ever since.

’Ahhh... Now that made sense... She must be enjoying this type of work instead of dark arts... But... Isn’t this a waste of talent in Dark Arts?’ Vale mused.

Nonetheless, Vale was happy for her since Jody had indeed always been sharp-tongued, ambitious, and fascinated by information.

It seemed that ambition had carried her far, now running the most influential newspaper in Vale’s territory.

The Avatar adjusted his cane and trench coat, stepping deeper into the building. He knew this encounter would be more than business. It was a reunion and perhaps a test of how much Jody Lombarde had changed since their days as students.

As Vale lingered in the busy lobby of the New Era Chronicle, one of the staff finally noticed him.

"Sir, do you need anything?" the man asked politely.

Another editor, rushing past with a stack of papers, glanced at him and added...

"Are you the informant about the Lightning Emperor? We’re waiting for details on that bandit group he supposedly eliminated to boost his reputation."

Vale shook his head calmly. "No."

He knew about the new Lightning Emperor, who was previously just a leader of a large bandit group. However, this time, he was already working for the Shadow Domain and was operating in various kingdoms.

Vale then let the conversation fade and quietly extended his Divine Sense, brushing across the documents and drafts scattered throughout the building.

In an instant, he absorbed fragments of several articles being prepared...

The first he found was an article with a title, It was a report detailing how rival guilds were sabotaging each other’s caravans, threatening trade routes, and destabilizing the region’s economy.

The other article was . It was an analysis of how young Arcanists in the Ruri Kingdom were abandoning traditional spell paths in favor of Beast Arts. Apparently, the young Arcanists felt that it was a lot easier to have tattoo marks and forcefully obtain Spells rather than learning them slowly.

Because of how easy it was for Beast Arts Practitioners, many of them felt that they’d rather take this path.

Then, another artifact had this title . It was a feature predicting that Eustace City and Clovis would soon surpass their current limits, with estimates of a million residents in the near future thanks to the Academy, Towers, and Arena projects.

Vale read silently as he processed the information. There were also a lot of reports related to other nations, and he couldn’t help but realize why the Void Immortal had possibly sneaked here...

Furthermore, one Article caught his attention...

"Knights and Arcane Integration"

Because of the Philosopher’s Elixir that Maya had been handing out everywhere, it was no longer surprising if an Arcanist could actually practice two or three Arcane Arts... Because of that, many organizations had slowly adapted to it, and it seemed that the Knight Arts were doing well on this matter.

Finally, he turned to the man who had spoken to him earlier. "I’m here to meet Jody Lombarde."

The staff member blinked. "Do you have an appointment?"

"No," Vale replied evenly.

The man frowned, already gesturing for guards to escort him out. But before they could move, a commanding voice rang out from Jody’s office.

"Stop! He’s my guest!"

Everyone froze as Jody Lombarde herself stepped into view.

She already heard Vale’s telepathic call and came immediately.

"Vale! Come in!" she said firmly.

The staff exchanged confused glances, but none dared to question her authority. Jody was the Editor‑in‑Chief, after all.

Just like that, they all returned to their work, and they were all clueless about Vale’s identity.

Jody, on the other hand, knew Vale was an Immortal, but since he wasn’t radiating Divinity and was acting like an ordinary man, she played her part carefully. To the others, she simply introduced him as her guest.

Vale adjusted his cane and trench coat and nodded slightly.

He followed Jody past the startled staff, into the offices of the New Era Chronicle, where their reunion, and perhaps a new alliance, was about to begin...
