Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1887: Shameless
Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
The Novices in attendance were somewhat taken aback.
What? Ye Zhongming? Taros Red Dwarves?
Wasn't he battling on behalf of the Star-Eye Clan?
Indeed, that was shown on the leaderboard! Four small cycles had already passed!
So why were these Taros Red Dwarves showing up to pose this query?
The surviving pair of Gurui Star Race fighters appeared puzzled as well.
What was going on? After battling for so long and accumulating points close to ten thousand, now there was a conflict over the fighter's allegiance? They couldn't help but find the situation a touch ridiculous.
Once the initial surprise faded, the Novices quickly grasped the provocative intent behind the question.
To begin with, cosmic races never treated affiliation matters lightly, as they touched on numerous concerns, with points being the most alluring. The points tally determined the rewards each race could claim. Right now, Ye Zhongming held the top spot among all Novices. Even after the Star-Eye Clan's points got tallied at the end and he might not claim absolute first, he'd surely stay in the leading pack. Undoubtedly, the Taros Red Dwarves outmatched the Star-Eye Clan in strength. With the points from these three added in, plus Ye Zhongming's, they could potentially snag the number one position!
That kind of allure wouldn't be cast aside lightly, even by these immensely affluent dwarves.
Secondly, the draw of a superior fighter.
A warrior topping the Novice battlefield had to possess unique qualities. Their individual power was undoubtedly formidable. In areas like situational awareness, timing control, battle mindset, and foe-handling expertise, they excelled at the highest level.
With some guidance, such an individual stood a far greater likelihood of emerging as a prodigy compared to most.
Across the universe's races, countless cases proved that Novice battlefield victors often rose to become elite figures within their kinds.
Forget the rest; among the three great powers, two leaders had once seized first in their Novice phase. Consider the nearby Gurui Star Race—their Second Elder, second only to the Great Elder and the race's future heir, had also dominated the Novice battlefield.
Last but not least, it touched on a matter of pride. The Taros Red Dwarves wielded far greater influence than the Star-Eye Clan. For someone to fight under the weaker group's banner, how could these arrogant dwarves tolerate it?
Given all this, these visitors had likely arrived to seek clarification. Without a satisfying response, they could turn into three more formidable foes.
Foes surpassing even the Gurui Star Race in might!
There was little choice; while their personal prowess might not rival these tree-folk, their gear was superior, and they deployed various machines, including this massive robot and combat vehicle—two renowned weapons of the Taros Red Dwarves.
The first, known as Mujin, served as auxiliary firepower granted solely to Three-Braid Warriors in the Taros Red Dwarves. Such warriors equated roughly to the Star-Eye Clan's Golden Mask Warriors. Naturally, a Novice battlefield couldn't host a powerhouse like a Three-Braid Warrior, leaving just one explanation: the Mujin's owner was a promising talent acknowledged by the whole Taros Red Dwarf race, a rising star of the future.
Someone like that was destined to wield immense power.
The second, the Cliff Chariot, got distributed only to seasoned teams. It offered all-terrain traversal, compensating for the dwarves' shortcomings there. Its primary role was warfare, with transport as a secondary function.
Bringing both Mujin and the Cliff Chariot showed the Taros Red Dwarves valued this mission highly. These dwarves, who amassed wealth by supplying gear to countless cosmic races, would rejoice at claiming the Novice battlefield's top prize, but it was mere icing on the cake—not a do-or-die like the Star-Eye Clan's potential doom.
In essence, they'd come to reclaim honor, zeroing in on Ye Zhongming's affiliation.
Without the resolution they sought, these folks might genuinely consider wiping out the Cloud Peak King.
He and Ji Ruiguang shared a look, immediately resolving to ease the tension. Ideally, they'd not only calm these three dwarves but pull them into alliance.
As for the words to use, Ji Ruiguang had it figured out. He'd explain that Ye Zhongming lay gravely wounded and in recovery. Upon awakening, he'd surely choose an option pleasing to the gentlemen. Yet, the two Gurui Star Race figures ahead threatened Ye Zhongming and had hounded him relentlessly. Despite Ye Zhongming disclosing his ties to the Taros Red Dwarves, he gained no favors and faced even harsher assaults. So, could they handle these two treants first?
Though it might not fully convince the trio, Ji Ruiguang believed the attempt worthwhile, with strong odds of pulling it off. That could genuinely flip their dire straits into salvation for all.
Ji Ruiguang advanced a step, ready to deploy his diplomatic talents on the three dwarves. But before words left his mouth, a voice from behind beat him to it.
"You were looking for me?"
The rest of the Novices parted to clear a path. Ye Zhongming, who had been resting with eyes shut to heal, had roused at some point and now emerged steadily from the group.
Noting his composed and grave demeanor, He felt concern and whispered for him to keep cool, reminding him to assess the circumstances.
Ye Zhongming gave a nod, appreciating He's kind intent, and gestured for her to relax.
The three Taros Red Dwarves eyed Ye Zhongming, their gazes sparking with interest, yet their stance stayed firm as they declared, "You have a chance to become our spokesperson again and complete this Novice battlefield."
Ye Zhongming nodded, delighting the Taros Red Dwarves, who saw this Earth human as rather perceptive. The other Novices exhaled in relief too. Though it appeared a tad submissive, against survival, what mattered pride? They were barely holding off two Gurui Star Race members; stirring up three fresh Taros Red Dwarves would spell utter disaster.
"Back on Earth, even if I wasn't the number one expert on the planet, I could definitely rank in the top three. I have basically completed all the tasks you issued. Why couldn't I get an admission ticket from you?"
Ye Zhongming's statement shattered the brief calm, reigniting the strain in the air.
Was this... a confrontation?
The handful of Taros Red Dwarves were caught off guard, hardly anticipating this human to raise the issue so boldly here.
"We didn't give you one, naturally, because you didn't meet our requirements. There must have been some aspect where you fell short."
"Then why ask me to come over now?"
"Because your current performance has met our requirements."
Ye Zhongming let out a chuckle.
He faced the gathered Novices and remarked, "How shameless do you have to be to say something like that?"
