Apocalypse Gachapon Chapter 1877: Suppress

Previously on Apocalypse Gachapon...
Cosmic race leaders convened urgently aboard a massive aircraft, grappling with the threat of an approaching Slave Race fleet set to reach Novice Star in six days. Amid tensions between dominant alliances like Reina Star and Huo’er Star and weaker groups like the Su Race and Taros Red Dwarves, they debated evacuation versus preserving investments in the novice battlefield, including valuable Moonspan Gold and young talents. Opting for a compromise, they initiated Mutual Assistance Mode, dispatching three warriors per surviving novice's race to aid in point accumulation for the final day of the fourth small cycle before planetary closure and cleanup. On the battlefield, a wounded Changxu Water Race novice unleashed her Base Sigil to fend off parasites and foes, just as recorders broadcast the emergency announcement urging all to seize the opportunity.

The whole Novice battlefield, spanning every one of its fifty zones, froze completely right then.

What on earth?

Mutual Assistance Mode?

Sending warriors downward?

Points added up jointly?

The Novice battlefield wrapping up entirely within just one day?

What in the world was going on?

Nobody had ever come across a mode like this before!

Apart from the warriors hailing from a handful of planets experiencing space for the initial time, most of the rest were fighters raised by the Cosmic races. They were well aware of how earlier Novice battlefields had operated.

Yet they had genuinely never encountered anything like it.

A lot of folks quickly spotted the 'deception' at play.

Once they scanned the detailed rules for these warriors, plenty shook their heads in secret and let out mocking laughs.

Even with the caps on energy levels, so what? Consider gear? Know-how? Teamwork? Data management? In all those areas, who held the upper hand? Obviously, the big races. And right now, the top half of the points list was packed with minor races. Wasn't the goal here crystal clear?

Wasn't it simply to even out that disparity? Wasn't it ultimately about handing the major races even greater advantages?

Countless Novices felt deeply unhappy with this setup.

Yet they had no choice but to accept it.

These warriors were already starting to infiltrate different zones, showing that the choice was final. The Novices against it understood their own races had signed off, rendering their protests pointless.

Still, with this ruling in place, a wave of follow-up problems would soon emerge.

How would they locate warriors from their own race? Did they even want to seek them out? If they ran into warriors freshly sent by rival races, should they always flee? Or was it possible to take them down? Did slaying these warriors with zero points bring any rewards? Could these warriors turn on one another too?

In the midst of endless doubts, a bunch of green-named, zero-point figures popped up suddenly on all the recorders. Without question, these marked the fresh arrivals.

All realized the skies over the Novice battlefield were on the verge of shifting dramatically.

………………………………………

He halted briefly too. Truth be told, this announcement was so massive that it bought He a tiny moment to catch her breath. At minimum, she stayed on her feet.

That said, things remained dire. The other trio grew even more alert and grave upon hearing the update. They aimed to handle this woman fast and then figure out how to adapt to the abrupt rule shift.

All three lifted their hands as one. It was plain they planned a joint assault.

Yet prior to their move, the trio sensed their bodies turning leaden. In alarm, they grasped it was poison?

Right then, they lacked time to pinpoint the poison's source. They just pulled antidote pills from their storage spaces and started shifting positions, dodging any incoming threats ahead of time.

A dark figure burst from the flank, a chilling gleam in its grasp slicing toward a Chaos Heart Race fighter.

This guy clenched his jaw, hurled his weapon aside—this freed him to grab a defensive gear piece sooner—and at the same time summoned back his parasite.

Staying alive obviously mattered more at this point.

But this shadowy form, which he couldn't make out fully, burst apart in an instant. A fierce mental jolt made his frame stumble, and yet another shadow lunged forward, its glow sweeping across his form.

Crack!

It rang like something snapping. The Chaos Heart Race fighter was soaked in perspiration, his mind gripped by aftershock terror.

The protective gear clutched in his hand lay in fragments now. Had he not ditched his weapon to equip this item, he'd be gone by now!

That ambusher's timing was impeccable. He hit when the fresh rules had everyone mentally off-balance. First came the poison release, then the shadows served as lures, and last was the devastating follow-up blow.

His fellow clansman had already spotted the chaos here and dashed in swiftly to counter the threat side by side.

The assailant, missing the strike, pulled back right away, his figure vanishing amid the dark shadows.

At this stage, scores of black shadows encircled them, like these entities swarmed every corner.

"No!" yelled the Chaos Heart Race fighter who'd just dodged death, since his parasite lay slain. The attacker, failing to end him, had switched straight to targeting the controlled parasite.

As he cried out, every one of these black shadows detonated together. A far more potent mental wave than earlier rippled outward, weighing their bodies down further.

"He!" Ye Zhongming, stepping into view, called to the Changxu Water Race woman. She got it and wrapped a water chain around him. Boosted by this, the Cloud Peak King barreled toward another foe and dove into fierce melee.

Mental jolts and gravity manipulation couldn't fully freeze a level nine evolver for easy picking, but they sure handed the edge in landing the opening blow.

Ye Zhongming gripped machine-forged daggers in each hand, unleashing a wild barrage on the foe he pinned down, who wielded short sticks.

Thud! Thud! Thud! Thud!

The short sticks kept smacking into Ye Zhongming's frame since he refused to evade. His form wasn't just shielded by personal defensive gear but also by the Black Earth Armor called up by the Earth Spirit and He's water chain safeguard. Such raw physical strikes barely scratched him.

His rival, though, buckled under the pressure. Without all those layers of defense, and with Ye Zhongming exchanging hits directly, he took dozens of stabs in mere seconds!

Sure, he might've connected dozens of blows on Ye Zhongming, but the guy shrugged them off! He, on the other hand, truly couldn't endure. Once Ye Zhongming's dagger plunged through his torso, this fighter crumpled to the ground in refusal, his form spasming as life ebbed away.

He felt utterly resentful. The glare he shot Ye Zhongming in his final moments seemed to convey, 'It's not that you're stronger than me, but you're just too underhanded.'

Having dispatched this enemy, Ye Zhongming pivoted gradually to confront the pair of Chaos Heart Race fighters who'd tried to assist but arrived too late.

The surprise attack had wrapped up. Now it came down to raw power clashes.

Two on two? Ye Zhongming feared no one, particularly with He at his side.

"How are you holding up? Can you keep fighting?" Ye Zhongming eyed the woman who'd shifted to his position.

"At least until we take down these two, no issue at all."

"Excellent."

Ye Zhongming eyed the duo from the Chaos Heart Race and their lone surviving parasite. Murderous aura started to radiate.

He too felt the impact of the just-revealed rules. But to him, whoever descended, he'd handle them. He understood the inevitable would arrive regardless, and evasion was impossible.

Because he topped the rankings. If those dominant races craved higher spots and more points, chasing top prizes in the end, Ye Zhongming stood as their prime mark.

Given that reality, why fear anything?

Beneath crushing strain, Ye Zhongming's hidden strengths started to surge forth.
