Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1561 - 537: The Empire’s Rise to Fame (Part 3)
Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
Per the established rules, the school's leader must oversee the promotion in person, and he's followed all the proper steps without any hitch whatsoever.
"Wait, you brought up a match earlier? What kind of contest could possibly outweigh the promotion of an entire major school?" Ronan recalled the point and inquired further.
"Well... it's a duel against the Imperial Guardian, Storm Cloud, Your Majesty."
With Rein working on the Mechanical Demon Dragon inside the Bixiu Mechanization School's hall over the last couple of days, Audrey from the same school had naturally caught wind of Rein's upcoming duel.
The issue was that Ronan, as a Liquidized Wizard, hadn't heard a whisper about it. After all, only nobles at the Imperial Earl rank or higher were permitted to attend; right now, the rumor was spreading solely among the elite circles in the Imperial City.
"A duel with the Imperial Guardian?" Ronan found himself momentarily stunned.
He'd caught rumors before of a talented young wizard rising from the Bixiu Mechanization School, one who'd supposedly bested 'Carver' Harold. But in under two months, to challenge the Imperial Guardian 'Storm Cloud' Your Majesty in a bout?
Isn't that just absurd?
Shock and skepticism crossed Ronan's features as he scrutinized the young woman in front of him, pondering inwardly: A lovely girl like her can't be mistaken—could this really be the case?
Yet he soon hit upon another concern and posed the question:
"Even assuming your words hold true, might I inquire if Lord Rein will have the stamina left to join the major Wizard School promotion exam after clashing with 'Storm Cloud' Your Majesty?"
"Um..." Audrey and Alicia exchanged a quick look, momentarily at a loss for words.
"Audrey, why haven't you left yet? Is something wrong?" A youthful voice echoed from beyond the hall.
"Lord... Lord Rein!" Audrey and Alicia whipped around, their faces lighting up with delight!
Ronan finally got a clear view of Rein, his demeanor turning serious at once—the other's spiritual power rippled with deep, mysterious intensity, marking him as a true prodigy among the young. Still believing he was in the right, Ronan met Rein's eyes and stated:
"Lord Rein, by the rules, the school's promotion exam demands personal handling by the leader..."
He didn't even get to complete his sentence when a furious shout erupted from the headquarters entrance: "Ronan, you fool! How dare you address Lord Rein in that manner!"
An older man clad in a green Wizard Robe strode in with haste.
"Men... Mentor?" Ronan's eyes bulged in shock.
He knew he rarely saw his mentor more than once or twice annually, and typically, thanks to his father's sway, the man was warm and approachable; this marked the first instance of witnessing his mentor in such a rage!
"Lord Rein, I'm Perkins—your performance at the Royal Arena was nothing short of breathtaking!" The one who'd wagered alongside Reginald earlier was none other than Perkins.
Right after the duel wrapped up, he'd remembered that today was the Bixiu Mechanization School's promotion day, and given Rein's status, he'd rushed straight there.
As expected, had he tarried even a little longer, things might have gone awry...
"Oh? So Lord Perkins was present at the Royal Arena too?" Rein offered a faint smile and remarked.
"Indeed, Lord Rein."
Following some brief exchanges, Rein commented: "Lord Perkins, time's slipping away—shall we proceed with the main matter?"
"Main matter?" Perkins appeared confused initially, then it dawned on him, and he replied: "You refer to the school promotion exam?"
"Exactly." Rein eyed him with a hint of irritation—what was happening here?
"What nonsense is this? No exam is required at all? Simply put your signature on the line." Perkins snatched a document from the profusely sweating Ronan and passed it to Rein.
"Eh? Only sign my name?" Rein felt a touch of surprise—was the promotion exam this straightforward?
"Naturally!" Perkins affirmed with a firm nod.
Ronan, hunched nearby, parted his lips a couple of times but stayed silent, inwardly crying out: Mentor! You always drilled into us the importance of every rule, yet now...
