A crystal coffin rested at the heart of the praying witch array, positioned just a few meters in front of Egil. Within it lay a rare mermaid, possessing the tail of a fish and the upper torso of a human woman.
She was stunningly beautiful, her eyes remained shut, and two shells served as adornments covering her high chest. One could hardly look away from the silver scales of her lower body, which shimmered with a faint, captivating light.
Through immense effort, the Sea God Sect had acquired this prize—a princess from an extinct mermaid race discovered in an ancient ruin. She was the perfect vessel to host the descent of the Nether Sea Goddess.
A few minutes passed by.
Inside the crystal coffin, the mermaid’s long lashes began to flicker. Her azure eyes snapped open as she sat up slowly, her voice echoing:
"My servant Egil, have you summoned me because the human named Rein has been located?"
"Indeed, great Nether Sea Goddess..." Egil replied, bowing his head instantly as he began his rapid report.
"Excellent. What is the status of Jorgandman’s recovery?" Nether Sea Goddess Hela inquired. As she stepped out of the crystal coffin, her shimmering fish scales underwent a startling transformation, turning into the pale, slender legs of a human woman.
"Reporting to the Goddess, the restoration is at seventy percent. The believers of the sect are currently working without rest."
"That will suffice! This time, I shall settle accounts with both that arrogant human brat Rein and the Dragon’s descendant simultaneously."
During her last failure, Nether Sea Goddess Hela had descended via a projection. After that defeat, she had retreated to the Sea God Sect, providing them with the coordinates of ruins and sealed locations before withdrawing her divine power.
Following a period of investigation, the Sea God Sect had successfully unearthed a sealed site and an ancient Sea Clan ruin.
The mermaid princess Niruela’s body was the primary treasure from the Sea Clan ruin. Preservation within the crystal coffin’s Water Essence had kept her corpse from rotting over the eons, making it an ideal vessel for Nether Sea Goddess Hela’s manifestation.
At the sealed site, they discovered Jorgandman, the Leviathan Giant Whale. This ancient, infamous marine Fierce Beast was a creature of the same caliber as the Ice Sea Giant Demon Gazrian.
It was currently situated in a submerged volcanic cavern several kilometers away.
A group of Sea God Sect Evil Sorcerers were busy funneling energy into a massive, indigo-colored unicorn whale that exceeded two hundred meters in length.
A haunting blue light radiated from the witch array beneath five High Rank Sea God Sect Evil Sorcerers, who were positioned in a pentagram formation. They fired brilliant blue rays into the unicorn whale using Water Essence—a shifting, jelly-like substance of blue hue.
Over a dozen such witch arrays were positioned around the massive frame of the unicorn whale.
Bathed in these blue beams, Jorgandman let out a thunderous, rumbling sound, clearly relishing the process.
The beast's power could not return instantly because it had been imprisoned for so long. The Sea God Sect was employing this specific method to accelerate the restoration of its former strength.
However, this process demanded a massive supply of Water Essence and the collective effort of many Intermediate Evil Sorcerers from the sect.
The decision to prioritize the revival of the Leviathan Giant Whale Jorgandman was a calculated one.
Following the failure involving the Ice Sea Giant Demon, the Sea God Sect learned of the Empire Delegation’s diplomatic visit to the Federation. To challenge the formidable airship fleets of the Empire and Federation, the Leviathan Giant Whale Jorgandman—with its devastating 'Surge' and 'Whale Spring Spurt' abilities—was the ultimate weapon.
While the Sea God Sect had originally intended to bait the Empire Delegation by raiding the Federation's coastline, the rebellion of Zaral had inadvertently leaked vital intelligence.
The Empire Delegation was scheduled to depart from the Zetaya waters and return to the Dragan Empire this very day.
Consequently, the strategy was changed to a surprise ambush on the Empire’s airship fleet during their journey home!
...
A few hours later.
In the luxurious cabin of the Empire airship fleet’s flagship, high in the sky.
Rein had just finished his transition into an Elf Tannery and was reviewing his system logs:
[Ding! Promotion Successful!]
[Promotion to Elf Tannery successful! Strength +2, Agility +4! Acquired Elf Tannery Core Skill: Elemental Leather Making lv1]
[Elemental Leather Making lv1 (Active): During the crafting of leather armor, you may channel mysterious energy particles to refine the process, slightly improving the success rate of leather armor production.]
...
Rein would have finished his Elf Tannery transition before the delegation reached Westin, but Trena’s requests had caused a delay.
"Elemental Leather Making?" Rein mused to himself with satisfaction.
His thoughts were cut short by the sudden, shrill blare of the airship’s alarm before he could finish reading his notifications.
