Titan King: Ascension of the Giant Chapter 9: Solo hunt
Previously on Titan King: Ascension of the Giant...
Rest was impossible for Orion that night; a wave of nervousness kept him awake.
Sparring was one thing, but hunting was another matter entirely—it was genuine combat where blood would be spilled. The Black Forest teemed with lethal threats, and even his father had returned from its depths with wounds.
For a beginner like him, a single lapse in judgment could result in death.
Orion dedicated several hours to sharpening his gear and constructing rudimentary traps.
Naturally, a spark of hope remained... as he worked on the snares, Orion kept expecting the system panel to announce a new objective.
Yet, even after five traps were finished, the panel remained silent.
It appeared that these newbie quests were specific and wouldn't be triggered by just any mundane task.
Orion summoned the panel to review his current status:
[Name: Orion]
[Race: Giant]
[Level: Standard]
[Age: 10 years]
[Height: 7 feet]
[Weight: 500 pounds]
[Cock: 20.5 inches]
[Strength: 14 (average for giants is 10)]
[Agility: 5 (average for giants is 5)]
[Intelligence: 8 (average for giants is 3)]
Title: Survivor
Skills: Intermediate Greatsword Mastery, Basic Spear Throwing Mastery
Special: Path of Evolution
Path of Evolution: As a survivor in this realm, your current rank is common, but your power will naturally expand as you age. However, should you possess the ambition, you may use quests to force your growth to accelerate.
While his stature and mass were largely the same, his cock had once again increased in length.
It was a shame he wasn't Wukong; if he were, he would certainly find a way to put this 'staff' to good use.
While Orion was busy inspecting his stats and polishing his spear with a piece of hide, a notification finally flashed!
[Newbie quest triggered: Land 10 ranged hits on enemies with a spear to unlock Intermediate Spear Throwing Mastery]
"That's easy enough."
Noticing an ant scurrying across the dirt, Orion threw his spear with pinpoint accuracy, pinning it instantly.
To his disappointment, the counter didn't budge; it stayed at 0/10. It was obvious that such trivial targets didn't count toward the goal.
Orion let out a weary sigh.
It looked like he would have to hunt actual prey.
The newbie quests were simple enough, with manageable requirements and low difficulty, but the system clearly didn't allow for cheap shortcuts.
After resting through the night, Orion entered the Black Forest as the sun began to rise.
The Blackstone Tribe held sway over a small eastern portion of the forest, claiming a territory that spanned 100 kilometers.
However, prioritizing his survival, Orion intended to stay within a 10-kilometer safety zone.
This marked Orion's debut as a solo hunter, leaving him feeling a mix of apprehension and thrill. This was his moment to demonstrate his bravery and power.
If he succeeded in this solo expedition, his parents would surely reward him.
As he scouted the woods, Orion quickly located an elk feeding nearby.
The creature was incredibly skittish. Because of Orion's massive frame, hiding the sound of his approach was impossible. As he drew near, the elk caught his scent and bolted.
Orion scowled and scanned the animal's data:
[Beast: Elk]
[Level: Standard]
[Weight: 470 pounds]
[Strength: 4]
[Agility: 12]
[Stamina: 5]
Traits: Elk are docile herbivores with low aggression, almost never attacking first. They possess high awareness, and their primary defense is their superior speed.
With the elk's agility sitting at 12, Orion knew he couldn't chase it down with his current stats.
Fortunately, wildlife was plentiful within the Black Forest.
It wasn't long before Orion found another elk.
Holding his breath, he tried to sneak closer this time, but the elk turned and fled the moment he reached 30 meters.
"What a sensitive beast!"
Realizing he couldn't outrun it, Orion gripped his spear and hurled it with immense power. The weapon whistled through the foliage like a bolt, piercing the elk's neck with perfect aim!
It was a fatal blow; the spear ended the elk's life in an instant!
The quest counter updated, now reading 1/10 for spear throwing mastery.
Orion pulled out a keen blade and carved a slice of flesh from the carcass, consuming the meat raw.
Up until this point, he had only eaten cooked meals or dried jerky. This raw consumption provided a different sort of 'satisfaction.'
He made short work of 20 pounds of raw flesh, fulfilling the hidden requirement and receiving +1 strength.
The objective on the panel shifted immediately.
[Newbie quest triggered: Consume 10 gallons of fresh beast blood to receive Strength +1]
Drinking blood... the primal, bloodthirsty instincts within his giant heritage didn't find the task repulsive. Orion proceeded to drink the beast's blood without hesitation.
When he finished, his face was smeared with crimson, giving him the appearance of a monstrous ogre.
He looked like a nightmare, but the sensation of his strength surging was absolutely incredible.
