The Supreme Martial King Shocking All Realms Chapter 5 - 3: Willing to Accept Defeat in a Bet?_2

Deep concern filled her heart.
Although Yang Chen's proficiency in alchemy had recently improved, Yang Heng was a genuine First-Order Intermediate Dan Master. In contrast, Yang Chen was merely a Primary First-Grade Alchemist.
What exactly was the distance between a Primary rank and the Middle Stage of the First Grade?
A Low-Level First-Grade Alchemist attempting to produce First-Rank Elixirs cannot guarantee success; in fact, the failure rate is often high. The basic requirement to be labeled a Primary First-Grade Alchemist is simply the ability to successfully refine a First-Rank Elixir at least once. However, an Alchemist at the First Grade Middle Stage is a master who can refine those same elixirs with a 100% success rate.
Her young master had only managed to refine a single First-Rank Elixir by chance a year ago. It was a mystery how he had stumbled upon that success—like a blind cat finding a dead rat—to earn his title. Furthermore, he hadn't produced a single successful pill in the entire year that followed.
With such a track record, how could she not be filled with anxiety?
Yet, while Gu Mingyue was lost in her worries, Yang Chen suddenly lowered his arms. The glow from the Fire Control Wood slowly faded away. A thin trail of smoke drifted from the Alchemy Furnace, followed immediately by a rich aroma that permeated the air.
This fragrance was the unmistakable sign that an elixir was about to be completed.
"The pill has formed!"
Yang Heng’s servant stared, his eyes bulging in shock.
No one present had expected Yang Chen to complete his elixir even faster than Yang Heng.
"What is there to be shocked about?" Xiao Hui, the servant who held Yang Heng's favor, snorted with contempt. "Our Young Master Heng has crafted this Reverting Bone Pill hundreds of times. Forming the pill is nothing special. My master's peak achievement is refining three Reverting Bone Pills in a single go! Three! That is not something a useless waste who succeeds once in a blue moon can ever hope to match."
The servant threw a disdainful look at Yang Chen. Secure in Yang Heng's patronage, he felt no fear toward the young man. Yang Chen's reputation within the Yang family was embarrassing at best. Without the protection of his elder sister, Yang Caidie, his standing might have been lower than that of a common servant.
Meanwhile, Yang Heng also noted that Yang Chen had finished. Seeing the calm confidence on Yang Chen’s face, a mocking sneer touched his lips. Speed meant nothing in alchemy; he was prepared to show Yang Chen what true skill looked like.
“Young Master... did you truly refine the Reverting Bone Pill?” Gu Mingyue asked, her voice trembling with nerves.
Yang Chen offered a small smile. “Indeed I did.”
He found the situation amusing; if he failed to produce a simple Reverting Bone Pill, he would be a disgrace. Furthermore, by observing Yang Heng’s movements, he had already predicted the quality of his rival's work. He had intentionally modulated his own technique so the victory wouldn't be so overwhelming as to cause suspicion.
“Elixir complete!”
Yang Heng suddenly bellowed. A powerful scent erupted from his Pill Furnace. Judging by his arrogant expression, he was clearly delighted with his performance, fully believing that the win was his.
Fearing Yang Chen would be devastated by the comparison, Gu Mingyue whispered quickly, “Young Master, it’s alright even if you lose the wager. The fact that you refined a Reverting Bone Pill proves you are still an Alchemist with a future! A real man shouldn't be bothered by a single setback!”
Hearing her words, Yang Chen didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Why was she so certain he had already been defeated?
“Yang Chen, reveal your furnace,” Yang Heng demanded with a sneer.
Without hesitation, Yang Chen inverted his furnace. The pills slid out instantly, landing in their respective palms.
Gazing at the three Reverting Bone Pills in his hand, Yang Heng let out a boisterous laugh. “Yang Chen, do you finally see what an Elixir Genius looks like? If you can produce three pills at once even once in your life, you should be proud. Enough talk; hand over the 300 Spirit Stones. Oh, since you don't have them, I’ll wait while you go beg your sister. You always were fond of hiding behind a woman's skirts.”
In his arrogance, he failed to notice Gu Mingyue standing nearby, her mouth hanging open in shock as she looked at Yang Chen's hand.
Yang Chen smiled calmly. “Yang Heng, what makes you so sure you’ve won?”
Yang Heng shot him a look of pure scorn, but his words died in his throat when he saw what Yang Chen held: four Reverting Bone Pills.
Four!
He had produced one more than Yang Heng.
“This is impossible!” Yang Heng’s heart skipped a beat.
Xiao Hui, the servant, immediately protested, “Quantity isn't everything! This is a contest of quality. Young Master Heng’s pills are of the highest grade in both number and excellence!”
“Are you so certain my pills are inferior?” Yang Chen asked with a lazy yawn. “If your eyes aren't working, feel free to take a closer look. You can give me your answer after you've actually examined them.”
In truth, Yang Heng had already recognized the quality, even if he didn't want to admit it. The pills Yang Chen had refined were visibly superior. Their crystal-clear, transparent sheen was a mark of perfection; anyone with half a brain could see who the winner was.
Gu Mingyue, barely believing her eyes, said with excitement, “Young Master Heng, you know the rule about accepting defeat in a bet, don’t you?”
Yang Heng’s complexion turned sickly pale.
His servant, Xiao Hui, stood frozen in disbelief.
After glancing around to ensure no witnesses were nearby, Yang Heng hissed through gritted teeth, “Yang Chen, how did you manage this?”
“I don't believe I owe you an explanation,” Yang Chen replied coolly. “Just understand that being quiet is not the same as being weak. You have lost. If you refuse to pay, we can head to the Elder’s Residence and let Elder Yang decide. I’m sure he will be fair.”
The mention of the Elder’s Residence terrified Yang Heng. Losing 300 Spirit Stones was bad enough, but he couldn't let the entire clan know he had been humiliated like this.
“No one speaks a word of what happened here today!” Yang Heng barked at his followers.
“Yes, Young Master, we understand,” they stammered.
Fuming with rage, Yang Heng glared at Yang Chen. “Fine, I will pay. Take these 300 Spirit Stones. But mark my words, if you breathe a word of this, I will make your life a living hell.”
He desperately wanted to back out, but the fear of public shame forced his hand. He had no choice but to surrender the stones.
Seeing the massive pile of 300 Spirit Stones, Gu Mingyue’s eyes blurred with happy tears. She grabbed the stones and immediately sprinted toward Yang Caidie’s residence. She had to share this incredible news.
Against all odds, her young master hadn't just avoided a loss—he had walked away with a fortune.
