The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1772: I’ll Always Find a Way

Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Empress Morgana unleashes a devastating strike empowered by the Blood Moon, bypassing the worldly restrictions placed upon the Lunirich Gods to target Rex directly. Despite High Priestess Alana’s intervention, the sheer force of the divine energy shatters Rex’s defenses and blasts both of them deep into the dangerous darkness of the Black Rift. Battered and critically injured, Rex finds himself stranded and unable to retrieve the Phoenix Feather, realizing that his enemies continue to sabotage his every move. As Alana struggles to provide healing while succumbing to her own life-threatening wounds, the two find themselves surrounded by encroaching threats in the void.

A procession of carriages shot through the Black Rift with the velocity of a projectile.

They skidded into an open clearing where the landscape was desolate, save for a few lonely statues standing in the far distance.

"Where have we arrived?" Princess Davina inquired, peering through the carriage window.

"I... I am uncertain, Princess," the driver stammered from his seat, his breath hitching at the sight before them.

"Are you positive we haven't lost our way?" she pressed, observing the endless flatland. "I recall the Tomb of Heroes being situated differently. It was supposed to be a massive stone construct of great scale."

"I am confident in our location, Princess," the driver insisted, gesturing toward the horizon. "The Tomb of Heroes possesses a unique internal mechanism. While it was originally designed to house the consciousness of ancient heroes, it also serves as a powerful deterrent against the Black Rift."

Princess Davina’s brow tightened into a deep scowl.

She chose to trust his word.

Beyond the rigorous standards required to serve the Castillon House, this driver was a local from a nearby bubble. His knowledge of the region was unparalleled, having spent his entire life exploring these lands since childhood. There was no possibility of him becoming disoriented in his own backyard.

Turning toward the captain of her guard, she signaled with a wave of her hand for the troops to fan out.

With a sharp nod, the captain gave the order for the convoy to disperse.

Given the openness of the terrain, there was little risk of being ambushed while separated.

After traveling for several minutes, Princess Davina finally noted a shift in the environment.

It wasn't the geography that had changed, but the presence of violent scars upon the earth.

"Halt," she commanded upon spotting a massive crater. "I must examine this."

Stepping down from the carriage, Princess Davina knelt at the edge of the pit. Ensuring she was unobserved by the guards or the driver, she leaned down to catch the scent. After a few sharp inhales, the truth became clear to her.

"This is Rex’s scent..." she whispered, her frown deepening as she looked at a nearby bloodstain. "What occurred here?"

Her transformation into a werewolf had granted her incredibly sharp senses.

Under normal circumstances, she should have detected Rex’s presence the moment they entered this space.

Yet, she hadn't.

Examining the crater made it undeniable that Rex was involved in whatever struggle took place.

His essence was scattered haphazardly across the area.

"Is someone attempting to mask his scent through incineration?" Princess Davina wondered aloud, suspicious of a deliberate cover-up. "If they were trying to burn away Rex’s trail, they did a clumsy job. Unless..."

Her first thought was that Rex had been ambushed and the culprit was hiding the evidence.

However, the scent wasn't truly erased.

It lingered so heavily in the air that anyone with her abilities would know Rex had been there. Considering the caliber of enemies Rex faced, she doubted they would be so incompetent.

The realization then struck her.

"Someone is trying to conceal something far more significant than Rex." Her gaze sharpened, scanning the crater’s rim like a predator. "There are no traces here besides his. Whoever did this wiped their own presence perfectly. Their execution was flawless."

She felt a sharp catch in her throat as the implications dawned on her.

'If that is true, could Empress Morgana be responsible?' she questioned herself silently.

Rex’s sole purpose for coming here was to meet Empress Morgana and collect the items he had earned.

That fact alone suggested the Empress was either the perpetrator or an accomplice. 'Since she has no obvious reason to target Rex, she must be acting on behalf of another party.'

Only one name surfaced in Princess Davina’s mind.

Haxel.

Yet, it was a wild theory, as Empress Morgana harbored a visible distaste for Haxel.

As they neared the statues, Davina spotted the wreckage of a carriage.

Upon inspection, she discovered a man trapped beneath the shattered timber.

It was the very driver she had assigned to transport Rex to the Tomb of Heroes.

"Seeker!" the captain barked, pointing at the victim. "Assess his condition and heal him immediately!"

For the next few minutes, Davina’s subordinates combed through the Tomb of Heroes, searching for any scrap of evidence. They moved with precision, leaving no stone unturned.

Meanwhile, Davina watched as the Seeker worked on the unconscious driver.

The man lived, but his internal structure and Spiritual Veins were devastated by an overwhelming, oppressive power.

It was clearly the result of the battle that had leveled the surroundings.

‘My concerns were misplaced,’ Princess Davina thought, her fists clenching as she surveyed the ruins. ‘I feared he might return to the Mortal Realm without a word, but instead, he met with this disaster.’

Even though Rex had insisted on meeting the Empress alone, she was filled with regret.

Had she been there, the outcome might have been different.

Then again, no one could have predicted that the young, barely established Empress Morgana would harbor such malice toward Rex. There was no logical motive for her betrayal, yet it seemed she was a master of deception.

"Princess, he has regained consciousness," the captain announced.

Davina turned her attention to the driver and approached him.

"Tell me what happened," she demanded, looking down at the dazed man.

"P-Princess..." he gasped, his face devoid of color, kept alive only by the Seeker’s continuous infusion of life energy. "I am lost... I truly don't know what transpired... it all happened in a flash."

"Calm yourself and try to recall. Your testimony is vital; remember that."

"Y-Yes..."

It took several moments for the driver to gather his senses before he could provide a coherent account.

He struggled to piece together the fragments of his memory.

"I... I was instructed to stay with the carriage, and I obeyed," he began, remembering his wait outside the Tomb of Heroes. "Suddenly, the earth began to quake. In a panic, I tried to flee the area to see what was happening. But the carriage... it just shattered."

"Shattered?" Davina repeated, her brow furrowing as she hung on every word.

She had to reconstruct the events of the battle.

Since this involved Empress Morgana, the Spirit Emperor would inevitably become involved.

She could only hope she would be in a position to shield Rex when that happened.

"A barrier. A wall of radiance. I cannot be certain—but I collided with something and the carriage was destroyed. Then, a brilliant light appeared above," his eyes glazed over as if he were back in that moment. "I couldn't truly see what it was, but... the power was immense. And I... I..."

The driver began to stammer, failing to find the words for the sensation.

Davina remained patient, understanding the trauma he had endured.

"Take your time. Think carefully."

"I cannot describe it well, but... it felt hostile, yet at its core, I sensed something pure and good. Does that make any sense?"

"Princess Davina!"

A shout interrupted them, causing her to look toward the Tomb of Heroes.

One of her soldiers was waving to her from within the ruins.

"I have found someone!" he yelled.

"Ensure he remains stable and protected. He is a crucial witness," Davina ordered the captain. She then sprinted toward the Tomb to see who had been discovered.

"She is over here," the soldier said, pointing toward a spot near the main chamber. "She appears to be of noble status."

Davina’s heart stopped when she saw the woman’s face.

She froze in place, stunned by the identity of the survivor.

"April...?" she gasped, her breath hitching. "Bring the Seeker here at once!"

As the soldier ran to fulfill the order, Davina manifested her Soul Artifact—an emerald cloak—and draped it over April. She checked for a pulse and felt a wave of relief that the girl was breathing.

Despite a horrific wound in her abdomen, April still clung to life.

However, that relief was quickly replaced by a cold anxiety.

"If she is lying here like this, what has become of Rex...?"

Rex had recently demonstrated how much he valued April by going to extreme, violent lengths to save her. Their bond was common knowledge. Finding her abandoned and wounded could only signify a catastrophe.

A heavy sense of doom filled the air.

"Did Rex... lose? Is he dead?" Davina whispered under her breath.

For April to be left behind, something terrible must have happened to Rex.

"No... I would have sensed it if his life force vanished from this realm," Davina said, running a hand through her hair in confusion. "Besides—how did April even end up here? She was supposed to be with her family, recovering."

As she puzzled over the situation, her eyes landed on the nearby statue.

"Hostile, yet possessing an intrinsic goodness? Only one being fits that description," Davina murmured, recalling the driver’s words as the truth finally clicked into place. "Has an Angel manifested in our realm...?"

...

The force of the sudden, devastating blow had sent them tumbling into the unknown.

This was not part of Empress Morgana’s original strategy.

Her intent had been to execute Rex and Alana instantly with a single, perfect strike.

Yet, they both lived.

But the path to becoming an invincible powerhouse is never smooth. A Scion is destined for constant trials. It matters not if the odds are stacked against them or if the battle is rigged.

A Scion must be forged in the fires of adversity to become a diamond worthy of the throne.

Rex and Alana had escaped one death trap only to fall into another.

By absorbing voidal energy through his Sable Physique, Rex hadn't just boosted his raw Cultivation power. He had gained an affinity for the Black Rift, allowing his vision to pierce through the unnatural shadows.

His head throbbed, his energy was spent, and his sight was failing—but he could see them clearly.

Beings with blades of obsidian steel.

Jaws lined with jagged, predatory teeth.

A corrosive, witch-like venom dripping from their maws.

Voidal Monsters.

"Get ready, Alana," Rex panted, scanning their surroundings. "We are trapped..."

Alana hesitated, looking around at the swirling black mist that obscured everything. However, the low, guttural growls echoing through the void told her that Rex was not mistaken.

The sounds were faint at first but were rapidly intensifying.

She was blind to them, but her instincts screamed that Rex was right.

"You should leave," Rex grunted, forcing his trembling body into a standing position. "Return to the domain of the Divine Saintess. If you stay, you'll only be throwing your life away for a stranger."

Rex stood tall, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

He was standing on sheer willpower alone.

"And what of you?" Alana asked, watching his steady back. "Can you actually survive this?"

"Please, I've dealt with worse than this many times..." Rex let out a weak chuckle and glanced over his shoulder. "I'll find a way out. I always do."
