The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1765: Overcoming the Wall
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Evelyn served as the empire's founding empress, a figure who had earned the deep affection and recognition of her subjects since the beginning.
Her role within the Silverstar Pack was equally well-defined; she was the Luna.
This was another pillar of the respect she commanded—she had stood firmly beside the emperor as he conquered the continent, confronting multiple high-tier Supernatural races and emerging victorious. Consequently, her authority within the empire was absolute.
In stark contrast, Empress Morgana was not a founding sovereign.
Lacking a familiar history with the people, she was not beloved, having only recently been acknowledged in her role. She possessed no real power base within the empire. Excluded from the inner circles, she even faced hesitation from the nobility, who were not entirely convinced of her legitimacy.
When measured against Evelyn, she appeared more like a mere ornament than a true empress.
The two were separated by a vast chasm of influence within their respective domains.
While Empress Morgana was unaware of Evelyn's specific circumstances in the Mortal Realm, she understood that her rival's current standing was precarious. Evelyn had gambled significantly by instigating this conflict; a defeat here would lead to catastrophic repercussions.
Nevertheless, the biting remarks Evelyn delivered carried a sharp sting.
Morgana ground her teeth, fighting the urge to lash out in a fit of rage.
Remarkably, through sheer force of will, she suppressed her fury and maintained a fixed stare.
"Do I have your commitment?" she questioned, her gaze sharpening. "Can I trust your word that Rex will assist me in covering this up?"
"Naturally," Evelyn replied with a calm nod. "Depart from this place, and our agreement stands."
Empress Morgana lingered for a moment, scrutinizing Evelyn’s features as if memorizing them for future retribution. She spared a final glance at Stelios, who looked pitiable as Rex hunted him down, before turning to depart.
She walked away, abandoning Stelios to his fate.
"Hmm..." Evelyn murmured, her eyes following Empress Morgana’s retreating figure until it faded into the distance. "It is quite surprising she conceded so easily. I was actually hoping she would lose her temper and strike. Rex would have gained strength if he had witnessed me being slightly harmed."
Evelyn had stepped in to block Empress Morgana specifically to prevent her from aiding Stelios.
She had achieved that goal, but secretly, she had invited an assault.
At this moment, the Angels represented the primary threat.
Rex might have held a different perspective, but in her eyes, the Angels were the true danger.
Stelios appeared desperate and defeated with no path to victory, yet Evelyn believed in total precaution. Forcing Rex to grow stronger would have improved their chances of winning, making it a pity that Empress Morgana refused to take the bait.
Swish—
Her moon earrings emitted a faint light.
A soft whisper echoed in her mind, prompting her to look back toward the direction where Empress Morgana had vanished.
"Do you really think so?" she asked, conversing with the presence residing within the earrings. "I also suspect she wasn't showing her true hand."
Meanwhile, several hundred meters away.
Stelios was in a state of total panic.
He tumbled repeatedly across the ground; as it happened, the earlier wound to his foot was far more debilitating than he had anticipated.
Falling forward violently, he stared up at the shimmering golden sky.
"Please, save me! Rescue me!!" Stelios’s voice ripped from his throat, a jagged and raw plea directed at the vast, uncaring golden expanse. "Save me! I repent for cursing the First Light! I was a fool to allow Void to proceed with the bargain!!"
His voice rose into a terrified shriek, "I remain one of your Archangels! Listen to me!! Grant me aid!!"
There was no reply.
Regardless of the volume of Stelios’s cries, the golden heavens remained silent.
It felt as though he was screaming into a vacuum, his words merely echoing back at him from the void.
A deep, rumbling chuckle resonated from behind him.
Rex had closed the distance, his eyes shimmering like molten ore while his mouth twisted into a grotesque grin, clearly fed by the terror radiating from Stelios. "Cry out... keep screaming," he rasped, his tongue darting out to lick his lips. "The scent of your despair is intoxicating."
Hearing those words, Stelios looked back, his complexion turning deathly white.
He tried to crawl away in a frenzy, but escape was impossible.
Splash!
"RAAARGHHK!!"
An agonizing shriek erupted from him.
Rex’s claws tore into his thigh, severing a major artery and sending blood spraying across the dirt.
Deep within his own consciousness, the true Rex was witnessing the scene unfold.
He watched the Invincible Apparition retract its claws only to plunge them into Stelios’s other leg. Blood pooled, staining the earth crimson. Stelios writhed and twisted like a worm being scorched by flame.
However, his struggles only served to amuse the Invincible Apparition further.
No matter how many times Rex ordered the entity to finish Stelios off and ensure his death, he received no reaction. It was as if his commands could no longer reach the Apparition, or perhaps his mental influence was fading.
Despite this, Rex continued his attempt to seize control of the entity's mind.
Kill Stelios.
End this now.
He repeated the command incessantly, hoping a single thought might break through.
Suddenly, his perception shifted as a bolt of chaotic purple light tore through the air ahead. An object was approaching with impossible velocity, a streak of glowing violence that was almost invisible to the naked eye.
When sight failed, instinct took over.
The Invincible Apparition jerked its head aside at the last possible second, dodging a blade aimed directly at its face.
The weapon whistled past, missing by a fraction of an inch.
All that followed was a distorted tunnel of air before the sonic boom finally arrived.
CRACK—!
The Invincible Apparition was nearly toppled by the pressure wave, realizing only then that the sword was traveling at over a hundred times the speed of sound. Only luck and instinct had saved him.
Yet, he maintained his grip, pinning Stelios’s leg down with no intention of releasing his prey.
Glancing back, he identified the weapon as the sword of chaos, crackling with unholy energy.
It was the same blade that had previously struck April.
The sword danced through the air as if guided by an invisible hand before pivoting to charge the Invincible Apparition again with that same terrifying speed. As it reached him, the blade tilted and launched a horizontal slash.
The Invincible Apparition, having already leaned away, found he could not dodge again in time.
His only option was to raise his claws in a desperate block.
Clang—!
Slash!
Though the parry was technically perfect, the purple blade shattered his claws and continued its arc.
The tip of the sword tore across the Invincible Apparition’s throat.
While the wound wasn't deep enough to be lethal, the unholy energy within the blade began suppressing his ability to heal.
In the following heartbeat, the sword grew even more aggressive, as if possessed by a mind of its own, forcing the Invincible Apparition to let go of Stelios. Now partially crippled, the Apparition struggled to defend against the relentless barrage.
Furthermore, every strike carried devastating force.
Shatter—!
Moments later, the same fate befell his other side.
Now declawed, the Invincible Apparition was forced into a retreat.
Rex screamed internally as he watched Stelios begin to crawl away, attempting to flee.
Aware that he had to complete this trial to fulfill the Main Quest, Rex felt a surge of panic. If Stelios escaped, the Main Quest would fail—and the System would be deactivated!
He could not permit that to happen.
Not while his enemies still lived.
Suddenly, his panic subsided as a realization dawned on him.
Rex pulled up the Main Quest interface and reviewed the details, noting that there was no specific requirement to kill Stelios. The mission only demanded that he overcome the obstacle before him by any means necessary.
Reflecting on the nature of this "wall," he remembered the advice given to him by Kei Xun.
He had nearly forgotten the hints provided by the other Scion.
Roar—!
Like a wild beast, the Invincible Apparition howled at the blade and struck out with its ruined claws.
Every exchange seemed to leave him in a worse state than before.
However, the rage boiling inside him continued to push his power to new heights.
Splash—!
The Invincible Apparition snarled as the sword bypassed his guard and impaled his stomach, with half the blade protruding from his back. He coughed up a spray of blood that coated the steel, but he did not fall.
In a sudden surge of strength, unholy energy began to hiss along the length of the blade.
A purple, flame-like aura erupted from within.
"I don't care who is wielding this sword," he growled, spitting blood onto the earth. "I don't care why you are protecting a pathetic Archangel. But mark my words—I will find you. Do you hear me? I WILL FIND YOU!"
High above, Adhara looked down at the sound of Rex’s roar.
Her eyes widened at his dire situation, but even a momentary lapse in concentration proved dangerous.
Boom!
A concentrated beam of light struck her like a high-speed projectile, sending her spiraling toward the ground.
Wincing in pain, she looked up during her fall, seeing dozens of celestial warriors pooling their power to create a massive magic circle. While Adhara didn't know the specifics of the spell, its target was clear—Rex.
It was bound to be catastrophic.
"FLUNRA!" she screamed, hoping he could intervene.
Flunra’s ears twitched at her call.
He looked up and spotted the gathering warriors, but he was currently pinned down by a swarm of celestial soldiers. Every time he tried to jump away, they pulled him back, preventing any interference. "Gistella!"
On the opposite side, Gistella was trapped in a similar predicament.
The celestial warriors held a numerical advantage of at least fifteen to one.
Even if she managed to break free now, it would be too late.
Swish—!
Without needing a verbal incantation, the golden magic circle solidified and began to glow.
Energy gathered at its center, condensing into a massive orb of light before discharging as a pillar of fire.
A scorching solar ray.
Boom—!
The Invincible Apparition looked up just as the beam was unleashed; his eyes grew wide as he faced a torrent of light the size of a building. With the sword still lodged in his gut, there was no escaping the blast.
Stelios watched and began to laugh hysterically, praying to the heavens that this would finally erase Rex.
Inside the chaos, the true Rex began to shimmer with newfound power.
KABOOM—!
For a terrifying moment, the world vanished—consumed by a blast so intense that light itself turned into agony. A colossal explosion ripped through the battlefield, blinding everyone in the vicinity.
The earth buckled, groaned, and ignited.
The hit was direct.
The result seemed certain.
Rex was drained. Battered. His energy had been stretched beyond the breaking point.
Even in perfect health, such an attack would have been devastating.
In his current state, he should have been vaporized—turned to nothing but dust.
That was certainly Stelios’s expectation.
But as the blinding flash faded into a steady radiance, a shape remained.
A dark silhouette stood at the center of the light.
The flood of energy hammered against it, scorching it, yet the figure remained upright—enduring the assault as if it were a minor gust of wind. From the heart of the beam, two eyes ignited with a terrifying, alien intensity.
Stelios drew in a sharp, cold breath of air.
Then, a sound emerged.
A low, amused chuckle vibrated through the air—the sound of someone very much alive.
Rex had survived.
<Congratulations on passing the first stage of Invincibility!>
