The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1763: Hunting the Hunter (2)
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Boom—!
A pillar of radiance erupted toward the heavens, a vertical beacon slicing through the golden mist above.
The force of the blast sent Rex reeling.
He tumbled across the ground until the Aegis of Moon Sentinel stabilized him, allowing him to regain his footing.
<Scanning...>
A blue holographic beam swept outward, illuminating the environment before locking its focus entirely on the Archangel of Knives. Rex crouched low for several seconds, bracing himself against the retreating shockwaves of energy.
A new system alert materialized shortly after.
<Stelios is sacrificing his lifespan by offering his Decree of Knives to Heaven.>
<Heaven is accepting his offering...>
<And now, Heaven will send forth its power to battle the opposing forces!>
Rex scanned the text, his muscles twitching instinctively as if his physical form was anticipating the coming clash. Despite his burning fury, his limbs felt heavy and unresponsive. With the enchanted pure silver circulating through his system, he knew a direct confrontation with a full-scale heavenly assault would be fatal.
This was Rex’s first encounter with such potent poisoning.
Even with his legendary regeneration, this toxin was stubborn; he couldn't simply purge it from his veins. His probability of victory had plummeted compared to where he stood only ten minutes prior.
Rex’s situation grew increasingly desperate. He had nearly drained his life force and physical reserves through the constant use of Law, continuous healing, and the absorption of voidal energy to fuel his Sable Physique.
Yet, surrender was not an option.
Crack!
Rex slammed his fists into the earth, the ground splintering beneath his knuckles as he glared toward the sky with predatory intensity.
"You filthy dog... If I am destined to fall, I’m taking you to the grave with me!" Stelios shrieked with manic fervor. He kept one arm raised toward the firmament, pouring more of his very life into the sacrifice. "In the end, you are isolated... No one is coming for you. But me? Heaven always protects its own!"
As the atmospheric pressure intensified, a smirk touched Rex’s lips.
He tilted his head, his eyes wide with a crazed light as he looked at Stelios. "Who told you I was alone?"
Aooouuu!
Rex let out a thunderous roar that drowned out the roaring celestial energy.
A soft, violet light began to gather around him, shimmering with the elegance of flowing silk. This tranquil glow stood in sharp contrast to the violent crimson aura still sparking off his skin. The peaceful light spiraled downward, sinking into the shattered ground and carving a perfect, luminous ring filled with ancient, intricate runes.
Rex didn't recognize a single symbol.
...
Before his arrival at the Tomb of Heroes, during his meeting with Evelyn and Gistella, Evelyn had stayed behind to share a warning. It was a premonition—perhaps one born from the entity residing within her moon earrings.
It was a hunch that had foreseen this exact moment.
"Most Royal Werewolves meet their end when they are isolated," she had whispered, her moon earrings flashing with a spectral light. The entity was communicating through her, a fact Rex noted clearly. "Tradition dictates that to slay a Royal Werewolf, the hunters must wait until it is severed from its pack."
"Alphas are vulnerable when they stand alone. If the Empress intends to kill you, this is her golden opportunity," she added with grim conviction.
Evelyn lacked the full details of the Spirit Realm incidents, but she could guess the trajectory.
Typically, Rex was the embodiment of suspicion.
However, in that moment, he had chosen to trust the Empress. He had lowered his defenses—and Evelyn didn't hold it against him, sensing that his experiences in the Spirit Realm had fundamentally shifted his perspective. She simply felt the need to remind him of the dangers of blind trust.
The timing was too perfect; their meeting provided a flawless window for an assassination.
No members of his inner pack were present on the other side of the veil.
It was a glaring weakness, one that any intelligent enemy would exploit ruthlessly.
Rex had frowned at Evelyn, his expression clouded with doubt.
Such strategic insight wasn't typical for her; it sounded more like something Flunra, with his deep knowledge of Werewolf lore, would say.
"I’m not saying the Empress will definitely betray you, but if she does, send me a signal," she continued, resting a hand gently on Rex’s chest. "I’ve intentionally suppressed our bond for this very purpose. Just signal me, and we will come to your aid."
...
High above, a colossal golden gateway manifested within the clouds and swung open.
Scores of entities forged from celestial light emerged.
Each took the form of a holy warrior, armored in solidified radiance and brandishing various weapons, with wings of pure light unfurled from their backs. Answering Stelios’ plea, they began their descent.
They did not fall as a single mass, but scattered across the sky like falling stars until they dominated the horizon—a true army of the heavens.
Meanwhile, Rex’s body surged with violet energy as he began his incantation.
"Harmony of Two Souls..."
As the skill activated, the air left Rex’s lungs. The bond he shared with Evelyn expanded to an impossible degree, becoming a bridge that pierced through the boundaries of the realms.
Two glowing purple lines shot out from the sides of the central magic circle.
They formed two additional circles, each resembling a purple full moon. From these points, violet energy condensed, slowly molding into physical forms.
<Notice: the user’s inner pack members are converting to enter the Spirit Realm!>
<Targeted inner pack members: Evelyn, Adhara, Gistella, and Flunra.>
<Does the user want to adjust their strength to the Spirit Realm temporarily?>
<It will cost 20 million gold to adjust all four pack members for ten minutes, continue?>
The moment Rex gave the mental command, a tidal wave of power erupted from the circles.
Stelios’ eyes widened in pure, white-hot rage. He stared at the four figures manifesting within the circles. Each one radiated a blasphemous scent—the unmistakable mark of the Royal Black Prince.
The Silverstar Pack.
The realization made him gnash his teeth in fury.
He didn't understand how it was possible, but he knew he had to stop the Silverstar Pack from fully forming at any cost.
"ATTACK!!"
The celestial warriors moved as one, aiming their weapons at Rex and unleashing concentrated beams of light. The projectiles whistled through the air like bullets, detonating upon contact.
Kaboom—!
"Don't stop!"
Kaboom—!
"Again!"
Kaboom—!
"AGAIN!!!"
KABOOM—!
Stelios showed no mercy, raining down a barrage of light that made the very earth tremble.
He was consumed by anger and frustration, but beneath it all was fear. Since Werewolves gain multiplicative strength when united with their pack, he couldn't allow the Silverstar Pack to stabilize. Having witnessed Rex’s terrifying potential, Stelios knew that giving him any opening would be a death sentence.
If he didn't crush this now, he might as well give up. Whatever Rex was planning, it had to be destroyed.
Thick, dark smoke blanketed the field of battle. For a long moment, the view was obscured until a blue flicker appeared—a defensive shield.
Stelios’ face turned ashen at the sight revealed as the smoke cleared.
Behind a translucent blue barrier, Rex stood supported by four companions. Three were in Werewolf form, while one remained in a human shape that nonetheless reeked of Werewolf essence. One look was all Stelios needed to identify the members of the Silverstar Pack.
They had all assembled at their Alpha's call.
Feral anticipation was written on their faces, their attention focused entirely on protecting Rex from the celestial onslaught.
"Archangel of Knives..." a deep, gravelly growl vibrated like thunder.
The voice belonged to Flunra, the massive, scarred Werewolf standing beside the Royal Black Prince.
A raw, ancient rage burned in Flunra’s heart as he faced the entity across from him—a ghost from the Era of Might. This was a nightmare that had lingered in his mind for centuries, fueled not by terror, but by the lack of a rematch.
"You..." Flunra snarled, his voice heavy with age-old loathing. He crouched, his claws glinting with lethal intent as he locked eyes with his target. "After all these millennia... I will witness your light being extinguished today!"
Next to him stood Gistella, her body covered in armored scales. She looked from the Archangel to the swarm of celestial warriors in the sky.
"Death is already walking among them," she whispered to herself. "I can feel it..."
On the other side, Adhara stood like a polished blade of glacial white. Her cold eyes scanned the field, instantly memorizing the enemy's numbers and plotting the most lethal route through their lines to lead the assault.
"Angels," Adhara hissed, the word sounding like a curse.
Her bloodlust poured out of her like a crimson mist, a silent vow to slaughter anyone standing in her way.
"How dare they swarm him like this?" She bared her fangs in a snarl. "I’ll make them suffer for this."
Finally, the figure in human form walked up to Rex and placed a hand on his shoulder.
Evelyn flowed her luna energy into Rex, dulling his pain and providing a moment of much-needed relief. "I kept my promise," she whispered with a faint smile. "It looks like the end is near. Let’s finish this together."
"The Archangel belongs to me. Keep the rest off my back," Rex commanded firmly.
Seeing the fire in his pack's eyes, he didn't hesitate.
Aoouuu!!
<Notice: the user has used the Silverstar Howl!>
At Rex’s signal, the Silverstar Pack exploded into motion.
Adhara reacted first, leading the charge with incredible speed.
She was a blur of white fur and fury. With every leap, violet flames burst from the ground, shaping themselves into a massive, fiery serpent. At the height of her run, she leaped onto the serpent's head.
The beast of fire reared up and lunged into the sky, acting as a living catapult that launched Adhara toward the heavens. Several celestial warriors tried to intercept her, only to be consumed by her purple fire.
Swoosh—!
Below, Flunra and Gistella sprinted like beasts, taking the right and left flanks.
Stelios, however, wasn't about to let them interfere with his heavenly reinforcements.
"PROTECT ME!!" he bellowed.
Responding to his cry, the celestial warriors dove toward Stelios to form a perimeter. But Flunra and Gistella were already moving.
Gistella channeled power into her horns and reached out, her energy snaring the descending warriors like a physical grip. On the opposite side, Flunra cast a rune onto Gistella’s shoulder, surging her telekinetic strength to new heights.
Crash—!
Like birds caught in a storm, the celestial warriors began to plummet, crushed by the overwhelming pressure. Flunra was waiting for them on the ground, tearing through their ranks in a violent rampage.
Each warrior was pinned down and shredded, their essence dissolving back into light.
Stelios watched in horror as his forces were dismantled. Throughout the entire confrontation, it felt as though Rex had a counter for every move he made.
"Don't try to run now..." Rex’s voice boomed across the battlefield. "Weren't you the one supposed to be hunting me?"
