The Conquerors Path Chapter 968 - 966-Time To Fuck Things Up.

Previously on The Conquerors Path...
Elda began exploring the darker potential of her life-force manipulation, envisioning a path of untraceable assassination. Though she hides these desires from her friends, Austin senses her nascent power and the monstrous killer she could become. He resolves to guide her development through the Saintess of Life, hoping to temper her destructive potential while still allowing her to grow.

My thoughts were racing at a frantic pace. In a mere heartbeat, the situation had reached a boiling point. Putting the complications with the girls aside, there were still the far-reaching consequences of my recent actions to consider. By defeating the era's greatest juggernaut through sheer physical power, I had essentially positioned myself to seize that prestigious title for my own, should I desire it.

However, this victory also invites a flood of new inquiries that the world has been murmuring about for quite some time.

Where exactly does my limit lie?

As far as the public is concerned, no one has ever witnessed the full extent of my capabilities. Every time they believe they have me figured out, I reveal a new facet: high-level mana combat, fundamental martial arts, and now, overwhelming physical dominance. What else am I hiding from the world? Do I even possess a ceiling? Furthermore, the most pressing question being debated daily across every corner of the land remains: what is my true Origin realm?

Aside from my inner circle, no one has the slightest clue regarding my actual level; it is a mystery that everyone is desperate to solve. At this moment, I am perceived as a peerless combat genius across all ranks. I have dismantled groups and now crushed the strongest individuals using nothing but brute force. People are left wondering how terrifying I would be if I truly went all out. This uncertainty is undoubtedly causing several high-level power players to feel extremely anxious.

They have been content to watch from the sidelines until now, but I am certain they will begin to take action soon. With my luck seemingly on the decline, I expect unfavorable events to start manifesting around me. In fact, even the older generation will likely start making moves now that they are feeling rattled.

Looking toward the future, their goal is to control me. They want to use me as a tool to restore the authority the war council has lost; as I’ve noted before, I am the ideal figurehead for them to thrust into the spotlight. They have spent this time observing and analyzing, but that passive stance is about to end. The power and rapid growth I am displaying suggest that once I reach my peak, I might become a force they can never hope to restrain.

I can already sense the atmosphere shifting, signaling that these shifts will soon manifest in reality, yet I haven't even finished positioning my pieces within the war council.

A flicker of ambition flashed in my eyes at those prospects. Furthermore, none of the girls had come to find me yet—not out of a lack of desire, but because they were lost in their own reflections. The recent changes have impacted them significantly, meaning the rules of the game have been rewritten.

Still, they each sent messages offering congratulations and apologies, which I understood. The shifts they are experiencing are forcing them to recalibrate their plans. Not to mention, several truths I intended to keep buried are now surfacing, making an all-out confrontation inevitable.

Beyond that, I need to maintain contact with all of them to ensure they don't suddenly attempt to eliminate one another. If they do try, I must be there to prevent it from escalating.

I quickly messaged my friends and the others, instructing them not to meet me just yet. I requested some solitary time to clear my head; otherwise, they would all come charging toward me. On the bright side, I achieved my primary goal: I restored the morale and pride of the student body, boosting their spirits, and I proved to the powers that be that I cannot be easily suppressed, regardless of their intentions.

While lost in these thoughts, an urgent message arrived. As I scanned the contents, my expression darkened.

A dull ache throbbed in my head as I realized what had transpired. Just as I tried to settle down, a knock sounded at my door. I tapped Elda, who woke from her nap on my lap with a slight pout and moved to sit beside me.

"Come in."

The moment the words left my mouth, Elysia and Nihil walked in, both looking visibly distressed.

"So you heard..." Elysia whispered, her voice heavy with gravity. Nihil followed up immediately.

"How did this happen!?"

Hearing their tone, Elda looked confused and began to grow worried as she asked, "What happened?"

I offered her a reassuring smile and patted her head to calm her nerves. "Don’t worry about it; it’s just something your big bro has to deal with."

I could tell Elda wasn't entirely satisfied with that answer, but she didn't press further. I rose from the sofa, stretching my limbs slowly while maintaining a smile.

"I need to go handle something; it’s important."

"Okay, but be home for dinner," Elda added, setting a condition that made me chuckle.

"No promises."

With that, I exited the room, with Nihil and Elysia following close behind as we made our way through the corridor toward the teleportation centre. I kept my pace light as we left the coliseum, but once we reached the open grounds, I became the center of attention. Whispers followed me everywhere, and fellow students shouted encouragement as I passed.

Many tried to approach me, but I projected a sharp, menacing aura that signaled I wasn't to be disturbed, keeping the crowd at a distance.

"It seems the war council has made their move; the tower is surrounded," Nihil remarked, his voice laden with concern. Elysia bit her lip, clearly anxious.

"Calm down; we will get through this," I replied steadily. As we approached the nearest teleportation centre, the surrounding crowd continued to watch me, buzzing about the victory and chanting my name. Fortunately, my "do not disturb" aura held them back as I crossed the plaza.

The teleportation centre was a fifteen-minute walk away. During the trek, my mind remained in overdrive. I could feel Celestinia’s gaze on me—partially worried, but mostly calculating how to turn this situation to her benefit. Meanwhile, I mentally cycled through various strategies to manage this sudden crisis.

The core of the problem was that the high-ranking officials had discovered the truth: one of the QuiverLords was completely corrupt!

The secret regarding that bastard had finally leaked, which meant the window to control the narrative had slammed shut. Now, the War council could spin the story however they pleased, potentially damaging the reputation of the entire council on a global scale.

My eyes burned with the determination to crush any obstacle in my path, sensing the mounting tension in the air.

[Indeed, you were an outsider who forced your way in, but do not expect fate to be pleased. To be a conqueror is to invite resistance; the world will conspire to bring you down to prevent you from seizing everything. The path of a conqueror always carries its own heavy burden.]

A smirk played on my lips as I pressed on. Thanks to my status as a title holder, I was granted immediate approval for off-campus travel—one of my many advantages. However, the same did not apply to Nihil and Elysia. They would have to submit formal requests, which usually took time to process.

Thinking quickly, I turned to the two of them. "File your travel requests for outside the academy immediately. I'll have the Dean fast-track the processing so you can join me as soon as possible."

They both nodded in agreement and split off. I reached the transportation centre shortly after. My status allowed me to bypass the usual queues, even as onlookers continued to stare.

"I require transport out of the academy," I stated with a calm smile. The receptionist processed my outside transfer approval and noted the details before signaling an escort to lead the way. Since outbound transfers are delicate operations, I was brought to a large, open chamber. With a brief nod to the mages stationed there, the teleportation sequence began.
