Switched Marriage: The Coddled Little Wife Chapter 805: Extra Story (Part 1)

Previously on Switched Marriage: The Coddled Little Wife...
Li Guangyuan's life unravelled due to Gu Peng's hidden machinations, leading Li Guangyuan to confront Lin Chuxia and threaten her child. Gu Peng intervened, saving the child but falling with Li Guangyuan from a building. Li Guangyuan died, while Gu Peng, severely injured, survived. Lin Chuxia visited Gu Peng in the hospital, where he reflected on his actions and his unrequited feelings for her, accepting her wish for them to be siblings in a next life.

"Honestly, Xiaxia, your reliability is truly lacking. You gave me your word about helping with the shopping... Fine, I get it, Deputy Minister Qin takes priority while I'm just a discarded weed... Alright, we have a deal: you’re treating me to a meal to compensate for this... You're lucky I'm letting you off the hook this time around..."

Inside the factory director’s office, Secretary Xiao Sun stood holding a report, a faint smile playing on his lips as he waited for the director to finish her call.

As soon as the receiver was replaced, Xiao Sun asked playfully, "Director Wang, was that Mr. Lin on the line?"

Wang Tianxue let out a weary sigh. "Don't remind me. Yes, it was that heartless individual."

Taking the document Xiao Sun provided, she scanned the contents briefly before scribbling her signature.

Xiao Sun smiled silently, feeling a sense of admiration for the deep bond shared between the director and Mr. Lin.

Rumor had it that Director Wang and Mr. Lin had met by pure chance, instantly connecting to become inseparable friends. Together, they had established the Xiyang Clothing Mall and the Xiyang Clothing Factory.

Director Wang was known to frequently refer to Mr. Lin as her benefactor, claiming that encountering such a person in one's life was a rare blessing from many past lifetimes of cultivation.

Once Xiao Sun exited the room, Wang Tianxue grabbed her handbag and made her way out as well.

Even though her plans with Lin Chuxia had fallen through, there were errands that still required her attention.

Mounting her bicycle, she pedaled toward the department store.

Her new residence had just undergone renovations; while the major furniture pieces were mostly settled, she still lacked various household necessities, particularly items for the kitchen.

Lin Chuxia had originally promised to accompany her on this shopping trip.

Since the market had opened up, the department store's traditional business had grown increasingly quiet. A few years back, the store had begun leasing out individual stalls to private vendors.

Consequently, the department store now functioned more like a bustling marketplace filled with different stalls; it was somewhat disorganized, yet it provided a much wider array of products.

Wang Tianxue wandered the aisles picking up what she needed, and before long, her hands were full of bags.

As she passed a certain stall, a beige storage cabinet on display immediately caught her eye.

Standing about a meter tall, it featured shelves for dishes and a flat surface on top for extra storage.

It was the precise piece her kitchen was missing.

"Boss, what is the price of this cabinet?"

"Comrade, how much are you asking for this cabinet?"

Two voices rang out simultaneously.

Wang Tianxue turned her head, only to find the other person looking back at her.

"Is that you?"

"Brother He, are you out shopping as well?"

He JianShe gave a friendly nod. "The apartment assigned by my work unit still needs a few things, so I came to look around. Is your place not fully furnished yet?"

He had heard during a recent visit to his junior sister’s home that this woman had just finished renovating her house.

Wang Tianxue looked at the small cabinet with a hint of conflict. It was the only one available in the entire shop, and she rarely encountered furniture that suited her taste so perfectly.

Despite her inner reluctance, she spoke up. "Brother He, if you've taken a liking to this cabinet, then..."

The smile on He JianShe’s face widened.

It was obvious she wasn't happy about it, yet she was still being generous enough to offer it up. Sacrificing her own interests didn't seem to be part of her usual personality.

He assumed she was doing it for the sake of his junior sister.

"It isn't a necessity for me; I just thought it looked decent. If you truly like it, please take it."

"I'm very grateful, Brother He," Wang Tianxue said, her face lighting up with a radiant smile.

Upon inquiring about the price, she found the cabinet wasn't overly expensive, yet Wang Tianxue still attempted to haggle with the vendor.

The shopkeeper was a sharp man; seeing that both of them were interested in the item, he knew it was a hot commodity.

"I can't let it go for that price. At 40 dollars, I wouldn't even break even. You're welcome to shop elsewhere," he told Wang Tianxue before turning to He JianShe. "This comrade seems much less difficult than a woman. I can't stand bargaining with women. Tell you what, 50 dollars and it's yours. We can consider it a friendly deal."

He JianShe calmly raised three fingers. "30 dollars, and I'll buy it."

The vendor was speechless. "..."

Seeing a well-dressed, sturdy man haggle even more aggressively than a woman was a shock.

Ultimately, Wang Tianxue secured the small cabinet for 40 dollars.

Once the payment was settled, she found she could no longer carry all her belongings.

He JianShe stepped in to help with several bags. "Is there anything else you need? Let's leave this cabinet here for the moment and gather everything once you're done."

While Wang Tianxue still had items on her list, she felt awkward seeing He JianShe burdened with her packages.

Before she could object, He JianShe added, "It just so happens I'm free today. Since we crossed paths, don't be modest. If my junior sister heard that I watched you struggle with bags and did nothing, she would surely complain to my father."

Recalling the relationship between Old Master He and He JianShe, Wang Tianxue managed to hide a smirk.

"Very well, I appreciate the help, Brother He."

He JianShe then took the remaining bags from her grasp.

"There's no need for that, I can manage these," Wang Tianxue said, feeling guilty for treating him like a delivery man.

After all, the man was the director of the Yan City Police Department.

He was clearly only assisting her because of Chuxia.

He JianShe was firm. "It's no trouble at all. The day is moving fast, so finish your shopping quickly. I'll just follow along."

Hearing that, Wang Tianxue stopped protesting.

She was efficient by nature, selecting the items she wanted without delay.

It wasn't long before both of them were loaded down with almost everything she required.

They gathered all the purchases and the small cabinet into a single pile.

"It looks like we're going to need a cart."

Just outside the market, carts were available to transport goods for a small fee.

Wang Tianxue located a cart and began debating the price with the driver.

Having followed her for several hours, He JianShe confirmed his initial assessment: this woman absolutely detested getting the short end of a deal.

For someone with such a stubborn character to offer him that cabinet earlier was truly a rare gesture.

Wang Tianxue’s apartment was situated right in the heart of the city, on the third floor of a residential complex.

He JianShe assisted her in hauling every item up to the third floor.

Because of the volume of goods, it required two full trips.

Once everything was inside, Wang Tianxue leaned against the wall to catch her breath. "Brother He, I'm truly in your debt today. Just a moment, I'll boil some water for us. You haven't had a single drop to drink after all that work."

Since she hadn't moved in properly yet, there was no hot water readily available.

As she stepped into the kitchen, He JianShe scanned the interior of the apartment.

The building was modern, and the decor was brand new.

However, the aesthetic was different from the usual styles he encountered.

It was minimalist with light colors—much like the woman herself: direct and orderly.

The furniture was already in place and perfectly clean.

His gaze fell upon a photo frame on the table, featuring a mother and her son.

The woman was Wang Tianxue, and the child, likely two or three years of age, was grinning brightly while nestled in his mother's arms—a clearly cheerful and spirited little boy.
