Switched Marriage: The Coddled Little Wife Chapter 802: Epilogue (Part 9)

Previously on Switched Marriage: The Coddled Little Wife...
Lin Chuxia firmly rejected Gu Peng's persistent advances, stating she couldn't give him what he wanted, even after learning he reincarnated for her. Meanwhile, Gu Peng, bruised and angry, tasked his subordinate to investigate Li Guangyuan, who he believes revealed his secrets to Lin Chuxia. Qin Yang, also visibly injured from a fight, sought immediate healing medicine from Old Sir He to avoid worrying Lin Chuxia.

Old Sir He felt the urge to grab a pillow and hurl it at him. "You just put it on; how could it possibly show results in such a short span of time?"

Qin Yang felt quite wronged. "Didn’t I mention that I required something with immediate effect?"

Given his Master’s extraordinary medical expertise, solving such a minor issue should have been simple.

However, he kept the second half of his thoughts to himself, terrified that his Master might actually kick him out of the house.

The day was still young; perhaps waiting a little longer would help.

Another fifteen minutes passed, yet nothing had changed. At this point, Qin Yang truly ran out of patience.

If he didn't head back soon, Xiaxia would definitely start getting anxious.

Just then, He Jianshe returned home pushing his bicycle, arriving just in time to witness his father brandishing a broom and chasing his brother-in-law out the door.

This brother-in-law was typically a very stable man and even held a leadership position at work; how could his father strike him so carelessly?

It seemed the old man's temper had become completely unchecked with age.

He Jianshe hurriedly parked his bike and stepped in to intervene, snatching the broom from his father’s grip.

Then he caught a glimpse of his brother-in-law’s face, and his eyes widened!

"Dad, can't everything be resolved with a conversation? How did you end up beating him into this state?"

The man's face was covered in bruises.

Since his brother-in-law was always so respectful and filial, He Jianshe refused to believe he could have committed a serious blunder.

Hearing this accusation, Old Sir He’s beard practically curled with rage. "Who hit him?"

"You did! I saw you chasing my brother-in-law with my own eyes. You really went too far this time."

Old Sir He glanced around, feeling that dealing with one fool wasn't enough, and now another had joined in.

He might as well give them both a beating.

Fearing Old Sir He might actually explode with anger, Qin Yang quickly offered an explanation to He Jianshe.

"Senior Brother, you’ve misunderstood. These injuries weren't caused by Master hitting me. I came to Master looking for ointment, but I wasn't happy with how slow it worked, and that’s what set Master off."

"The effect wasn't good? Are you talking about the one kept in the drawer?"

When Qin Yang nodded, He Jianshe looked bewildered. "That ointment is incredibly potent; it stops swelling overnight and removes bruises within two days. When exactly did you apply it?"

"About half an hour ago."

He Jianshe: "..."

Honestly, he deserved the hit.

After all, his father could never stand anyone questioning his medical prowess.

However, He Jianshe’s focus soon returned to the state of Qin Yang’s face.

"What actually happened? Were you in a brawl? Why did you fight? How many people did you take on?"

Qin Yang: "..."

His Senior Brother’s professional instincts as an officer were certainly kicking in at an awkward time.

....................

In the end, Lin Chuxia couldn't help but see the truth.

Aware that Qin Yang had gone to confront Gu Peng, she wasn't particularly shocked by his battered appearance.

"You were the one telling me to put those matters behind me, yet you were the one who couldn't let it go."

In that moment, she had to concede that a man’s intuition could be just as sharp as a woman’s sixth sense.

From the very start of Gu Peng’s arrival, Qin Yang had displayed an uncharacteristic hostility toward him, marking the first time he had ever shown such strong disapproval of someone in her circle.

Lin Chuxia didn't criticize him much; she was simply relieved that Qin Yang hadn't come out on the losing end of the struggle.

"Looking like this, I’m worried it might interfere with your work tomorrow."

"I’m not concerned," he replied. Having released his pent-up frustration, a little lecturing was a small price to pay.

After a moment of thought, Lin Chuxia decided to use some spiritual spring water to help clean and heal his wounds.

....................

News of Gu Peng’s resignation didn't surprise Lin Chuxia at all.

Knowing he had officially departed from the company actually brought her a sense of peace.

Out of everyone affected by Gu Peng’s exit, Wang Tianyu was likely the one most impacted.

Ever since Gu Peng had joined, Wang Tianyu had viewed him as both a professional rival and a benchmark for success.

After all, the man shared his job description and was clearly held in high regard by Mr. Lin.

Then there was the matter of his sheer talent.

Wang Tianyu’s attitude had evolved from initial dismissal to direct competition, and finally to a quiet, respectful sigh of resignation.

This was especially true after they had swapped office locations and exchanged their current projects.

The moment he took over Gu Peng’s responsibilities, Wang Tianyu found himself struggling to keep his head above water.

Whether it was overseeing the business operations in Yan City or managing the herbal medicine cultivation base, the complexity and workload were far greater than anything in An City.

Yet, Gu Peng had handled everything with perfect precision.

Wang Tianyu had made numerous secret vows to study harder and work with more diligence, not necessarily to beat Gu Peng, but simply to remain worthy of the competition.

But just as he was striving toward those goals, his target had vanished.

"Mr. Lin, is it possible that Assistant Gu was unhappy with the assignment in An City? Or maybe he didn't want to leave Yan City? If that's the issue, I can..."

Having spent time working alongside him, Wang Tianyu knew Gu Peng deeply respected Mr. Lin and was committed to being his right-hand man.

He had clearly sensed Gu Peng’s hesitation about relocating to An City.

If Mr. Lin had only swapped their roles to appease him or his sister, it would be a terrible waste for Mr. Lin to lose such a talented assistant because of it.

Lin Chuxia offered a small smile. "Don't overthink things; his leaving has nothing to do with you. Just stay focused on your own duties. I’ll find someone else for An City. The deployment for the herbal medicine cultivation base has already started. It’s vital that you monitor it closely; go there personally if you have to."

"I understand, Mr. Lin. Don’t worry, I’ve been keeping a sharp eye on everything."

Now that he knew he wasn't the cause, Wang Tianyu felt a wave of relief.

Lin Chuxia quickly appointed a replacement for Gu Peng's role in An City.

Business continued smoothly in both An City and Yan City, as if the departure of a single assistant was of no great consequence.

Lin Chuxia hoped that Gu Peng could move on and start fresh as well.

She was confident that with his expertise and the wisdom of a lifetime of experience, he could build an even more successful future for himself.

....................

As the grass turned green and the birds took flight, the weather grew mild, and people began trading their heavy winter coats for lighter clothing.

"Mr. Lin, a fax just came in from Yun City. The planting area for our Angelica sinensis at the herbal medicine cultivation base has reached 3,000 acres. Other medicinal varieties are also reaching significant scales. Vice County Magistrate Zhang and County Magistrate Zhao are very eager for us to establish a pharmaceutical factory in Yun City and have invited us for a site inspection whenever we are ready."

Lin Chuxia reviewed the fax with a satisfied expression. "It is indeed time to pay them a visit."

That landscape of mountains and rivers would surely be a magnificent sight once it was filled with the fragrance of blooming herbs.

"Also, the Magistrate of Qingyuan County called. They are also hoping for a visit and went out of their way to highlight the progress of the herbal medicine cultivation in Qingyan Town..."

As he spoke, Wang Tianyu couldn't hide a mocking smirk.

Though he hadn't been present for the previous inspection, he had heard plenty about how the people of Qingyan Town had treated Mr. Lin.

Now that they saw Yun City’s success, they were suddenly in a hurry. Where was that urgency before?

"There's no need to concern ourselves with them for now. We will stick to the original plan."

Even if she decided to expand the cultivation bases in the future, Lin Chuxia had no intention of considering Qingyuan County as long as the current leadership remained in power.

While they were conversing, the telephone rang.

Lin Chuxia picked up the receiver, only to hear Qin Jianjun’s panicked voice on the other end. "Fourth Aunt, you have to get to the clothing mall right away, something terrible has happened..."
