Damon impressed Viola by recognizing the properties of a rare gemstone that stabilizes conflicting energies like shadow, void, and demonic essence, which she needed to mitigate her ritual's backlash. He offered it freely in exchange for an engagement or dates, but she refused, turning her focus to the brutal ritual involving chained villagers wailing in agony as dark runes burned beneath them. As the sacrifices died and Viola staggered from the violent backlash, Damon subtly infused her with his blood and activated [Mental Corruption] and [Blood Thrall], successfully binding her as his thrall.

Damon smiled broadly. His luck stat was pulling out all the stops. Not only had he tracked down one of the major players, but he had also successfully turned them into his Blood Thrall. Naturally, this success hinged on the prior Blood Mark he had placed on them. Yet, luck always played a role. Even the most carefully crafted strategies can fall apart due to unforeseen events.

Viola rose to her feet gradually, brushing the blood from her nose using the back of her hand. Her face remained as keen and collected as always, yet surprisingly, she turned her gaze toward Damon rather than inspecting the ritual's outcomes.

Before anyone could detect anything off, Damon cleared his throat swiftly and delivered his words in the most charming, flirtatious tone he could muster. "Hey babe, how about we have that chat now? You seem to be done with things here?"

Viola gave a nod, then, without uttering a sound, she rose and trailed after Damon. Fortunately, it appeared the rest knew precisely what needed doing, so her sudden departure with him didn't raise any eyebrows. She still gripped an amulet in her palm, likely the artifact from the ritual.

Damon cleared his throat once more. "Just follow me for now."

The pair swiftly relocated to a more isolated spot, which looked fairly abandoned. A few mobs lingered nearby, but none ventured close to the duo.

"So let's see… how does this work…" Damon's initial impulse was to expose his true self and check if the mind control had failed, but he opted for a cautious approach, proceeding step by step. It was wise to extract some information from her first, just in case everything went south.

"Ummm… let's start with the golden throne event… what do you know about it? You got any insider tips?"

Viola nodded. There was no sarcastic remark, no defiance, no impolite action. She began responding straightforwardly. "Golden Throne is a standard system event awarded to numerous training worlds. My family doesn't possess much knowledge about the event proper, particularly due to the oracle's mention of the fate deviation. The version arriving here will be irregular for some cause."

"Abnormal how?"

"The oracle indicates that this instance of the event is a legacy tier one. It will bring consequences exceeding the typical prizes. He couldn't even glimpse the event's future, suggesting possible involvement from the old era."

"Old era?" Every response she provided only sparked additional queries.

Viola nodded. "The period preceding the system. It's widely acknowledged across the multiverse that the system acquired various old era pocket realms, and whenever a fate deviation occurs in a system event, it signals a strong likelihood of one of these concealed, enigmatic old era pocket realms emerging."

Damon's eyes sparkled with interest. "So old era, huh… now we are talking." He couldn't shake the thought that this entire fate deviation might somehow connect to him. It all felt too coincidental. Still, there was no use speculating when he could simply interrogate the woman before him.

"Viola… Blood God, do you think he is the reason for all of this mess?"

Viola abruptly stiffened. Damon grew wary as the vacant expression in her eyes began to flicker unexpectedly. What the hell? Had uttering his name affected her so deeply? He hastily shifted the subject to play it safe.

"Forget I said that. Let's go back to the event. What do you think the actual event is about? Some sort of monster hunting? Do I need to do some special preparation for it? Are you doing some special preparation for it?"

Viola shook her head. "Nobody has any clue what the actual event is going to be about. The ancestor-" She began to mention something when a clear tension surfaced in her eyes again, her whole body commencing to quiver and shudder. "Don't talk about your ancestor." Damon intervened promptly once more.

This calmed her down, restoring her serene demeanor. Damon could only sigh. He had truly aimed to probe her further on the ancient powerhouses concealed in their realm, but it seemed impossible without forfeiting his hold over her.

It was okay. He still had plenty of time to uncover details. No rush was necessary. At present, this event stood as his top concern, particularly with its strange fate deviation and whispers of the old era.

Perhaps he could even uncover hints regarding his bloodline. It might represent his prime chance to surpass other bloodline possessors.

Damon harbored no illusions about being the sole bearer of his potent primordial bloodline. He was surely one of many, and he would soon need to address that as well. If the Golden Throne event aided him in any manner with that, the risks he had undertaken would undoubtedly prove worthwhile.

"Hey, why aren't any of you trying to get some cities and territories under your belt? Didn't the event clearly mention that more territories and titles would give an advantage?"

Viola nodded serenely. "Of course, we are. Today, there will be some coronations. The ten families will be taking ten kingdoms for ourselves."

"What the fuck?" Damon was utterly stunned. "Are you serious?"

Viola nodded once more. "All the preparations are already complete. The announcement should be coming anytime now."

"Fuck, I am screwed then." Damon smiled ruefully. This was profoundly aggravating. No matter his efforts, these scoundrels always stayed ahead. "What is the time now?" He checked urgently.

"There are still a good few hours left." A sly grin spread across Damon's face. He remained uncertain about the significance of these territories, but time was on his side. He wasn't finished fighting back.

And he knew precisely his next move.
