SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God Chapter 698 Surrounded?

Damon returned to the campsite shrouded in a cursed aura from the battlefield, unsettling his companions and prompting Aurora to cast a calming spell. Though exhausted and bearing wounds that slowly healed, he declined offers of aid and retreated to meditate, assimilating his gains while stabilizing his turbulent blood essence amid lingering rage. As the group resumed their routines with an undercurrent of worry, the women gathered in the mana-rich grotto to cultivate, where Ellora's playful teasing about bodies and potions eased the tension, drawing blushes and giggles from the others.

"…I hate every one of you," Kate announced, grabbing two handfuls of water right away and hurling them directly toward Phoenix.

Cold water struck Phoenix's face, making her yelp. "Hey!" she sputtered, her eyes going wide with shock for a brief instant before her mouth turned up in a grin. "You brought this on yourself."

She struck back without delay, launching a sparkling curve of water aimed right at Kate. Ellora, leaning back confidently against the side, didn't get away unscathed. The water crashed into her chest full force.

Ellora gradually brushed the water off her face, her red eyes sharpening with a mix of peril and delight. "Oh? Is that the way we're playing?" she asked in a sugary tone.

In the following instant, water erupted all over the place.

Ellora lifted herself a bit from the pool and released a massive wave that soaked half the cavern. Mallana let out a squeak and plunged beneath the surface to dodge the mayhem. Arya gasped in surprise as the water soaked her hair, then she paused before clumsily firing back with as much strength as she could manage.

Sylvara let out a gentle sigh while drops fell onto her shoulder. "…Immature," she whispered under her breath.

Moments later, with a quick twist of her wrist, she sent a sharp, intense jet that nailed Ellora squarely between the eyes.

Aurora, who always jumped into any fun without hesitation, submerged herself and surfaced like a hunting mermaid in the midst of them, blasting a huge fountain skyward that soaked everybody. "Nobody gets away!" She laughed, striking out haphazardly in all directions, including at Erin, who sat motionless on the far side, lost in contemplation.

The poise of these elite women and battle-hardened fighters vanished in a flash. The cavern echoed with splashes, chuckles, semi-serious cries, and teasing warnings as the water churned against the rocks.

Within mere seconds, the whole grotto turned chaotic as the bare women splashed wildly. At that very point, Erin rose abruptly, her body shifting into her enormous snake-like shape. "We're not by ourselves. Enemies surround us. Get ready for battle."

As the women rushed to call forth their weapons, multiple sets of red eyes materialized nearby. Those red eyes grew in number, flickering to life across the rough walls and roof of the grotto.

Soon after, the shadows shifted, and the gentle, leather-like beat of wings echoed through the space as scores, actually hundreds, of bats peeled away from the gloom. Though they appeared as regular bats initially, faint trails of shadowy vapor seeped from their forms, lending an odd, enigmatic vibe.

Their upside-down grip, staring in creepy quiet, proved deeply disturbing too.

"They could just be nuisances, but we should eliminate them anyway." Erin issued a soft hiss, her thick coils clenching while her scales stiffened and started shimmering softly with old symbols. The rest nodded in agreement.

Yet Erin could handle this on her own, so the others didn't keep up their assaults. From her coils, she released a surge of toxic deep energy, an overwhelming flow of dark-purple fog that spread like a creature alive.

This strike ought to have wiped out the entire flock, yet to everyone's surprise, the bats stood untouched the very next moment. A strong blood shield formed around them, fully stopping the onslaught.

Erin's expression shifted. Aurora responded without pause. These weren't typical bats, that much was clear. Something suspicious was afoot. Black wings unfurled from her back. Right away, potent dark bolts launched from her, each targeting a bat.

To their astonishment, not even her dark bolts, which could challenge a C-rank powerhouse, could pierce the blood shield protecting these ordinary-looking beasts. Aurora clenched her jaw. She ramped up her strength even more, with shadows swirling about her as she pulled in energy from the water.

She appeared set to unleash her full might in a devastating blow. But before she could build it up completely, a known chuckle rang out from the cave's edges. Simultaneously, the bats shrieked and took off, wings flapping furiously as they rushed higher.

This alarmed the group further, causing Phoenix and Meira to ignite in actual fire. Aurora wasn't the only one; all of them looked primed to release their ultimate moves. Yet before any strike landed, the flock stopped suddenly in the air, contorting oddly as the bats collided, their forms melting into fluid darkness and bloody vapor. The cluster compressed, reformed, and hardened into a lofty, recognizable outline hovering easily over the pool.

"Ladies… relax… It's just me." Damon grinned as he appeared fully, his red eyes sparkling with mischief he could hardly contain. The heavy tension dissolved as though it had never been, replaced by utter quiet shock. "Sorry, sorry, I didn't intend to scare you all. I only wanted to try the new ability and check its potency. Nothing more." He said hastily, raising his hands to calm them while that humor stayed in his red gaze.

The sight of all these women standing bare, gripping only their weapons with tense faces, set to explode, was just too hilarious.

"I'm thrilled you're having such a good time, Damon." Kate advanced with an intimidating stride. Her gaze tightened, a icy spark flashing within.

She popped her knuckles, red specks of blood-glow collecting near her fingertips.

Damon cleared his throat uneasily. "What if I make up for this by aiding you all further? Additional meridians?" He coughed and proposed kindly.

The proposal proved irresistible, leaving everyone content with the situation. They hadn't truly objected anyway. After all, Damon had already examined each of them completely.

Still, only Erin stayed on guard. Her stare remained icy and detached, brimming with killing urge. "My liege… are you truly yourself? Maybe prove it by crossing blades with me first."

Damon laughed lightly. He'd figured Aurora might detect it too, but Erin clearly held more savvy than the bunch. "Calm down. No need for concern. This is me, yet not entirely. Not the true version, anyway. It's my blood clone."
