SSS Awakening: Rebirth of the Strongest Vampire God Chapter 4: Blood God

Damon entered Earth Online, skipping the lengthy introduction from his guide angel, Moonshine. He then meticulously completed the tutorial, brutally killing hundreds of rabbits to unlock the "Rabbit Killer" title, a secret he knew from a previous life. Appearing in Gryphon town, his starting point from before, Damon observed other new players and then adjusted his character profile, reluctantly choosing a specific, hated nickname crucial for his future path.

"Blood God? Gross."

"This guy's naming sense is even worse than mine."

"If you're a blood god, then I’m your daddy, bitch!"

Nicknames couldn't be toggled off, unfortunately. It didn't truly matter, though. Damon didn't seem even slightly bothered. He walked away with an indifferent air, completely ignoring the mockery coming from the crowd.

Damon paid no mind to the boisterous mob that practically devoured every newcomer as he exited the town square. A status screen—the more crucial one—began flashing before his eyes.

[Ding! Please select a class before continuing]

Waving the notification away, Damon ignored the system's prompt. While many would assume choosing a class was mandatory, it actually wasn't. For those with patience and the right knowledge, certain hidden special classes could be unlocked.

Damon was currently making a beeline for one of those secret opportunities. He navigated toward a modest shop located within the market square, where the town's primary businesses were clustered.

On the outside, the shop appeared completely ordinary—a bulky wooden building featuring a slanted roof and a weathered sign that said: "Ellora’s Wares – Potions, Charms, and Curios." During their opening hours of gameplay, most players never bothered to enter. The shop lacked useful items for novices, and the proprietor, Ellora, was famous for being uncooperative unless a specific conversation path was triggered.

However, Damon was well-aware of the secret.

He pushed inside, causing the bell mounted above the door to chime softly. Ellora stood behind the counter; she was an NPC with piercing eyes, silver hair pulled into a long braid, and skin covered in deep wrinkles. She didn't even bother to look up.

"No discounts for beginners, no handouts, and I don't bargain. If your pockets are empty of silver, find the exit," she droned automatically, not even giving him a passing glance.

Damon offered no verbal reply. Instead, he stepped directly to the counter with a faint smirk. "Greetings. Do you happen to have any Invisibility charms in stock?"

Hmm? The old woman looked up, and her demeanor performed a total 180-degree turn instantly. Naturally, Damon was proudly flaunting his newly acquired title right above his head.

[Rabbit Killer - I hate cute little bunnies]

The old hag let out a cackle. "You’re quite the interesting brat, aren’t you? I don’t possess any invisibility potions, but I’ll let you borrow my old charm for a single day. Just one day. Ensure it is returned before the sun goes down."

Ellora reached under the counter, moving with a nimbleness that defied her mummified appearance. She produced a small pendant made of bone-white material hanging from a tattered string.

For a heartbeat, Damon’s breath hitched, and he only exhaled in relief once the woman placed the charm in his hand. At last! The initial phase of his strategy was finished!

"Much appreciated, Miss Ellora. I'll be sure to return your charm shortly." Damon offered a polite bow and made a quick exit.

"Hey, Rabbit Killer." Damon paused, glancing back over his shoulder. "Keep your wits about you. You'll be skinned alive if the wrong people catch sight of my charm."

"I'll be extremely cautious, Miss Ellora." Damon nodded to the old woman before getting the hell out of there. His heart hammered against his ribs as he hurried away, only relaxing once the small town was nearly behind him.

In the fields bordering the village, players were busy farming goats, pigs, and chickens. These areas were famous because several starter quests offered both food and experience simultaneously, leading most people to spend their first few hours here.

Damon observed the familiar chaos: fireballs streaking through the air, daggers being tossed, and swords swinging. It was exactly as he remembered—newbies shouting over voice chat, bewildered players spinning in circles, and the "pro" players desperately trying to speedrun their way to level five.

Damon didn't give the chickens a second look, nor did he interact with the glowing quest markers hovering temptingly over the NPCs. That was the route for ordinary players. He had zero intention of following that path a second time.

He slipped behind a weathered fence at the edge of the village, cutting across a dirt trail that led toward the western outskirts—a silent area far from the town. A few inquisitive players wondered what he was doing and began to trail him; Damon did nothing to stop them.

"Where are you headed?"

"Did you find a secret quest?"

"Hey man, let's team up."

Damon remained silent, but a pair of level 5 wolves wandering the path handled his stalkers for him. The level 1 players never saw it coming. They screamed in pain as the wolves lunged, making short work of them as they were torn apart.

"You bastard, you led us into a trap!" one of them yelled, but Damon merely waved a hand dismissively without looking back. The wolves paid him no mind at all, allowing him to walk away unbothered.

He soon reached an ancient well situated in the center of vast paddy fields. It was a moss-covered ruin with no rope or bucket—just a silent, dark abyss. Most people assumed it was just a piece of scenery. They were wrong.

Damon began a careful descent into the well, but he lost his footing halfway down. "Fuck!" he barked as he hit the ground hard on his side, sending up a cloud of dust and damp soil. He lay on his back for a moment to recover his breath before pushing himself up.

"Where is that door supposed to be located?" He struggled to recall the specific detail, but as he searched the area, several bricks began to shift on their own. A tunnel soon revealed itself before him.

Damon smirked. The second phase of his plan was progressing perfectly. He only had to wait a few seconds before a pale figure emerged from the darkness.

It was a tall, gaunt man with crimson eyes and two sharp fangs.

"You are not Lady Ellora?"
