Upon arriving in the land of the flame elementals, Shota is greeted by the elder who announces that the ancestors wish to meet him, surprising him as he expected resistance similar to his encounter with the rock elementals. Learning there are multiple ancestors unlike the singular rock ancestor, Shota ponders the implications before the elder reveals they are already present. The ancestors manifest from the surrounding flames, explaining they dispersed their essence to sustain the realm while it drained away, earning Shota's admiration for their sacrifice.

The flame elementals had surprisingly arranged a seating area for me to discuss matters with the ancestors.

Although they referred to them as ancestors, in truth, there were merely the pair of them.

It wasn't like a larger group existed, and from the auras emanating from them, it was clear they lacked the power of the rock elemental ancestor.

Even after extending their essence to protect this realm, it remained insufficient to rival the rock elemental ancestor.

As though reading my thoughts from my facial expression, one of the flame elemental ancestors remarked, "You can't measure us against that ancient rock. He's the pioneer who collaborated with the gods initially and forged the way for the rest of us."

The other flame elemental ancestor simply nodded in affirmation.

Yet their relaxed manner in expressing this utterly surprised me.

A peculiar expression crossed my face upon hearing this, but the flame elemental ancestors appeared unperturbed, treating it as entirely commonplace.

I found myself reflecting that these flame elemental ancestors were far more approachable than the rock elemental ancestor.

Had it been the rock elemental ancestor, it surely wouldn't have revealed such details.

Given their forthcoming nature, this presented an opportunity for me to exploit.

"Could you share more about the history? I'm eager to learn what transpired in the war of the gods."

The pair of flame elemental ancestors exchanged glances, initially causing me concern, but then they agreed with nods and began alternating in narrating the tale.

The issue lay in the fact that their account was one I already knew well.

It mirrored the narrative from the rock elemental ancestor, though this version included additional minor particulars absent from that earlier telling.

These extra bits might have been omitted, yet it appeared the flame elemental ancestors intended to cover every aspect.

Personally, I favored the rock elemental ancestor's succinct delivery over this meandering version, where the flame elemental ancestors frequently veered off due to added anecdotes.

Undoubtedly, they were more willing to divulge details, but the catch was that much of it held little relevance.

Such trivia might intrigue them, yet it failed to captivate those unfamiliar with that era.

Thus, I endured, hoping for any fresh insights they might offer.

Ultimately, however, my efforts proved futile.

With a resigned sigh, I inquired, "I've encountered this tale already. Do you have any novel information to share?"

The two flame elemental ancestors regarded each other with evident puzzlement at my words before responding, "What exactly are you seeking? You requested details on the war between the gods, and we recounted the events from that time."

My lips twitched involuntarily at this, though I composed myself and replied, "Are you aware of anything regarding the gods themselves?"

They remained silent initially, then affirmed, "Naturally, we know the gods. We've encountered various deities while battling alongside them in the past."

My eyes brightened as I pressed, "Would you describe them for me?"

The flame elemental ancestors paused thoughtfully before launching into descriptions of the gods.

Regrettably, none of it addressed my actual curiosities.

"There was this particular god who habitually concealed treats from the others. Didn't we once discover her stashing away her goodies?"

"Indeed, she was evading that one persistent god who pursued her relentlessly. Though, come to think of it, wasn't he the very one who supplied her with those treats?"

"Their dynamic was truly entertaining with all that back-and-forth."

The flame elemental ancestors proved far more candid than the rock elemental ancestor, but this openness carried drawbacks, as they easily strayed into irrelevant digressions.

Simultaneously, they rambled about topics they deemed fascinating without regard for their audience.

The rock elemental ancestor, while reserved, offered greater reliability, selecting pertinent facts without such endless chatter.

Finally, I reached my limit and interjected, "Could you reveal details about the gods' roles and actions during the war?"

This query shifted the atmosphere noticeably.

The instant I posed it, a heaviness seemed to settle over the flame elemental ancestors' demeanor.

Their grave stares made me uneasy.

This altered my entire perception of these two ancestors.

Concurrently, the overall vibe transformed alongside their shift.

"We cannot disclose that to you."

Their firm declaration brooked no further debate.

It took me aback, yet it appeared no additional probing was possible.

After all, pressing further might prompt them to vanish abruptly.

I simply couldn't fathom their sudden change in behavior.
