Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure Chapter 1927: Too many openings

The density of corruption energy in the atmosphere intensified as I moved forward.
My heightened sensitivity to divine energy meant I was equally attuned to the presence of corruption energy.
Ultimately, they were merely opposite faces of the same coin.
Simply by walking, I could gauge the sheer volume of corruption energy saturating the air. The concentration was so heavy that it felt as though I was encountering one of the Apostles of Destruction.
Nevertheless, such a pressure was insufficient to halt my progress.
While it might have paralyzed an ordinary human or even a soldier drilled by the racial alliance, it was nowhere near enough to obstruct me.
This was because my reserves of divine energy far exceeded those of a typical person.
Upon closing the distance, the combatants finally came into view.
A massive hobgoblin and a towering ogre were locked in battle, but they were no ordinary monsters. Dark patches stained their bodies like ink, signifying they were saturated with corruption energy.
It was obvious that the corruption energy had infected and was now puppeteering them. However, it was peculiar that they hadn't undergone more significant physical mutations.
They moved like hollow dolls, devoid of life and merely executing commands.
This didn't align with the typical methods employed by the forces of Destruction.
"It doesn’t matter right now. Right now, I need to take the two of them down," I remarked with a weary sigh before gradually advancing toward the two monster kings.
Curiously, they failed to acknowledge my presence entirely.
I had intentionally telegraphed my approach, providing every possible sign of my arrival. Despite this, neither creature seemed bothered by my proximity.
It appeared that, for them, nothing existed in the world except for each other.
They were engaged in a struggle for survival, yet that alone couldn't justify this level of tunnel vision.
A life-and-death struggle usually demands total awareness.
For entities of the monster king rank, a lack of combat experience was impossible. They had undoubtedly survived many such desperate battles and should have possessed the instinct to detect anything approaching them.
The only conclusion was that they were ignoring me on purpose.
As for their motives...
"Take this then," I declared, lifting my hand to launch a barrage of icicles at the pair.
I didn't actually expect to finish them with such a basic strike, but...
"Grr..."
Low grunts of pain escaped them as the ice projectiles found their marks. Even as the icicles bored holes into their flesh, they remained indifferent to the severity of their wounds, continuing their mutual assault.
Truly, their obsession was focused solely on their opponent.
Not for a single moment did they divert their attention from the enemy standing before them.
"There’s so many openings..." I whispered to myself while observing the fray.
It was evident they were being coerced into this fight, yet the logic behind such singular focus remained elusive.
After all, this situation didn't seem to benefit anyone...
"The manipulation here differs from how corruption energy usually dominates its hosts. It’s as if a singular, absolute directive has been etched into their minds, and they are simply carrying it out."
The longer I watched, the more unsettling it became.
While I was attempting to act as bait by attacking them alone, it felt as if they were the ones baiting me by exposing so many vulnerabilities.
"I’m the bait, so I have to do this," I sighed, once again raising my hand to manifest my power.
I quickly conjured more icicles and fired them toward the two monster kings.
Each time a projectile struck, they offered no reaction.
They simply endured every blow I dealt, seemingly unconcerned with the damage their bodies were sustaining.
Under the weight of this relentless bombardment, it wasn't long before both collapsed to the ground.
In the end, neither moved; large portions of their bodies had been torn away by the ice.
Even at the moment of death, they hadn't struggled against me.
They really were nothing more than mindless puppets...
"Is it over?" The others, who had been watching from a distance, approached once they saw the monster kings fall.
I nodded silently without turning around, staring at the fallen kings with a look of suspicion.
No matter how much I analyzed the scene, I couldn't fathom the strategy the forces of Destruction were using here. It felt as though there was no grand design at all, and perhaps I had been overthinking it the whole time.
"How is the situation on the other battlefields?" That was my last remaining theory, but my assumption was quickly proven wrong.
"Nothing has gone wrong so far. It seems like all of the battles have gone smoothly so far."
Hearing this, my expression became even more bewildered.
What exactly did the forces of Destruction hope to achieve with this?
It wasn't a diversion, nor was it an ambush...
The whole ordeal had been a complete waste of time...
