After freeing themselves from the Beast Taming Sect, the Li family debates a proposal by Li Zhirui to diversify their income by producing Spirit Food. Despite concerns regarding the family's lack of culinary inheritance and the high cost of training Spirit Chefs, Clan Leader Li Shiqing approves the initiative. Li Zhirui and his uncle, Li Shiren, travel to the bustling Yunqing Marketplace to acquire the necessary foundational recipes. They arrive at the Xuanfa Pavilion, where they begin reviewing a selection of spiritual cookbooks to begin the clan's new venture.

Ginseng Chicken Soup, Crystal Roasted Meat, Liquor Shrimp, Five Treasures Thick Soup... A total of twenty-seven recipes were displayed before them, with prices ranging from one hundred to five hundred spirit stones each.

'Rui, which recipes do you think we should buy?' Li Shiren inquired via a secret voice transmission.

'Ginseng Chicken Soup, Crystal Roasted Meat, Liquor Shrimp, Five Treasures Thick Soup, Tri-Mystic Fish Balls...' In a single breath, Li Zhirui named over a dozen recipes. He had chosen each one specifically to complement the eight types of spirit beasts currently raised by the family.

Li Shiren nodded to himself, as his own conclusions were nearly identical. Looking up, he asked, "Do you have any first-grade Spiritual Liquor Recipes?"

The cultivator’s grin grew broader as he bowed repeatedly. "We do, we do, please wait a moment, senior."

"Wait, could you also bring something else? I would like to examine the Water Method Alchemy pill recipes," Li Zhirui added quickly, spotting the man's eager reaction.

"Of course!" The man then hurried out of the room.

A slight frown creased Li Shiren’s brow. In a disapproving tone, he asked, "I don't object to your choice of alchemy, but why choose the most difficult Water Method Alchemy?"

'Uncle Ren, have you forgotten I don't have a Fire Spirit Root?' While lacking a Fire Spirit Root does not strictly prevent one from practicing alchemy, Li Zhirui’s specific circumstances were dictated by his Water-Wood Dual Spiritual Roots!

Because one element suppresses fire and the other fears it, Li Zhirui found it nearly impossible to control flames. Since precise flame manipulation is vital for traditional alchemy, that path was closed to him.

"Then why not consider other skills? You have a great talent for Beast Taming," Li Shiren replied, his expression still tense, clearly unhappy with Li Zhirui’s choice.

Alchemy is a difficult craft, and Water Method Alchemy is even more taxing and niche, with high-tier recipes being remarkably scarce.

Should Li Zhirui follow this path, he would be forced to modify recipes himself upon reaching higher realms—a massive waste of time and energy!

Li Zhirui remained silent. He could never reveal the existence of his portable space to anyone else, not even to a trusted relative. It was simply out of the question!

Li Shiren felt a headache forming; while his nephew was usually quite sensible, he could be incredibly stubborn regarding certain matters.

"Esteemed guests, here are the liquor recipe and the pill recipes," the cultivator said as he returned, fortunately breaking the tense silence between the two.

With great interest, Li Zhirui began scanning the jade slip to find the specific recipes he wanted.

Watching his nephew's enthusiasm, Li Shiren let out a quiet sigh.

Yellow Sprout Pills for mana growth, Jade Spirit Pills, Nourishing Soul Pills for the spirit, Blood Replenishing Pills for vitality... Li Zhirui was dazzled by the thirty-six first-grade Water Method Pill Recipes and wished he could buy them all.

However, despite years of Cultivation, Li Zhirui had only saved up slightly more than three hundred spirit stones, which was only enough for two recipes at most.

Fortunately, Li Zhirui understood his priorities. He chose the two recipes most beneficial for his current needs and for which he already possessed the ingredients in his space: the Jade Spirit Pill, suitable for both cultivators and beasts, and the Spirit-Replenishing Pill, which sold well in the market.

The former would speed up his and Da Qing's cultivation, while the latter could be traded for more spirit stones.

Once the deal was done, Li Zhirui was left with only a few dozen spirit stones.

Ignoring Li Zhirui’s specific choices, Li Shiren selected the Impurity-Removing Liquor and Clear Boiled Liquor recipes. Including the previously chosen cookbooks, he paid a total of five thousand five hundred spirit stones.

Before they departed, the shop gifted Li Zhirui several packs of first-grade Spirit Seeds, though their total value was less than twenty spirit stones.

After exiting the shop, Li Shiren did not leave immediately. Instead, he led Li Zhirui toward a different section of the marketplace. They walked in silence, neither speaking a word.

Soon, they reached a street lined with various stalls on both sides.

"You wanted to learn Water Method Alchemy, didn't you? The Spiritual Medicine and Spirit Water here are cheaper than in the shops, but you must be able to tell the difference between real and fake goods yourself," Li Shiren said calmly.

A look of joy appeared on Li Zhirui’s face. "Thank you, Uncle Ren!"

"The family possesses several Pill Furnaces, so there is no need to buy one," he added, handing over a storage bag. "Here are a hundred Spirit Stones; make sure to pay me back soon."

After thanking him again, Li Zhirui walked excitedly toward a stall piled high with Spiritual Medicine.

"Jade Root Grass, Hidden Spirit Fruit..." Creating the Jade Spirit Pill required five different ingredients. While the store sold a set for twelve Spirit Stones, they were only eleven here.

Li Zhirui spent one hundred and ten Spirit Stones on ten sets of herbs, plus another twenty for a gourd of Spirit Water.

In truth, these materials weren't nearly enough for proper practice; Li Zhirui was mainly using the purchase as a cover for the herbs already in his space. After all, nobody could master Alchemy just by reading a Pill Recipe without any practice, right?

He also noticed several people watching him since he began his shopping. However, as soon as he stepped back to Li Shiren’s side, the gazes vanished.

Though his face remained calm, Li Zhirui made a mental note to be more discreet if he ever visited the marketplace alone.

"Are you finished?" Li Shiren asked, suggesting they could look around more if needed.

When Li Zhirui nodded, Li Shiren led him out of the marketplace.

Upon returning to Da Rong Island, they presented the cookbook and the Spiritual Liquor Recipes to the Clan Leader. "Do you have any thoughts regarding your visit to the marketplace?"

"The marketplace is very busy with many cultivators. While there are several inns, they mainly focus on lodging. I believe there is a significant market for selling Spirit Food. Furthermore, our family’s advantage lies in breeding Spirit Beasts," Li Zhirui explained clearly, sharing his observations.

Li Shiqing offered no immediate opinion, simply saying, "I see. It has been a long day of traveling; go and rest."

Li Zhirui bowed to the two Elders and withdrew.

"Do you agree with Zhirui’s assessment?" Li Shiqing asked.

Li Shiren nodded. "Zhirui is very observant. Everything he said was accurate."

Li Shiqing considered this. Changing the subject, he asked, "You know our family's current state; we have limited resources to train Spirit Chefs, so we must focus on a few. Who among the clan do you think is fit for this?"

After a moment of thought, Li Shiren suggested several names. "The standards for a Spirit Chef are as high as those for an Alchemist; Divine Sense and heat control are the most vital traits."

The individuals Li Shiren named either possessed a Fire Spirit Root or were in the late stages of Qi Cultivation with strong Divine Sense, meeting the necessary criteria.

"Very well, let’s choose them," Li Shiqing agreed, finding the choices suitable. As for the two Spiritual Liquor Recipes, they would be easy to handle since the Li family already had a wine master.

Li Zhizhun was the eldest of the Zhi generation. His contracted Spirit Beast was a second-order Liquor Monkey. To provide for his beast, he had experimented with the family’s only liquor recipe and, surprisingly, succeeded!

The family had previously stopped supporting Li Zhizhun’s path as a wine master only because the Beast Taming Sect paid too little for Spiritual Liquor, leaving no profit. Thus, those plans had been put aside until now.
