Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan Chapter 6 Consultation
Previously on Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan...
After the initial task of settling the spirit beasts was complete, Li Zhirui and his companions were unable to depart immediately. The subsequent days were vital for observing whether the spirit beasts could successfully adjust to their unfamiliar surroundings.
Fortunately, the Li family possessed a wealth of documented techniques for raising these six specific spirit beasts, so no complications arose. The only requirement was to designate several clan members to manage the daily feeding of the spirit beasts.
Now that they were settled on Da Rong Island and a moment of respite had finally arrived, Li Zhirui took the opportunity to enter his personal space to cultivate his various spiritual plants and items.
During this time, Da Qing—who had been immersed in a profound slumber—was stirred by Li Zhirui’s recent breakthrough and finally emerged from his own cultivation trance.
“You actually broke through?!” While performing the Spiritual Rain Skill, Li Zhirui heard the familiar sound and hurried over, his expression radiating astonishment as he looked at Da Qing.
Naturally, Li Zhirui desired for Da Qing to advance in rank, as such progress would directly bolster his own combat power. However, because the odds of such an event were traditionally slim, Li Zhirui had not allowed himself to harbor high expectations.
In the three centuries since the Li family was founded, there had been fewer than three recorded cases where a cultivator reached Foundation Establishment and their contracted spirit beast achieved a breakthrough simultaneously, as had occurred with Li Shiqing.
Da Qing offered no verbal reply; indeed, with his current level of spiritual intelligence, he lacked the capacity to answer such complex questions. Instead, he simply continued to chirp and fuss on his own.
“You little glutton,” Li Zhirui muttered with a hint of feigned irritation. Nevertheless, he treated Da Qing well, immediately producing several spirit fruits and feeding them to the beast.
In truth, this diet was the primary catalyst for Da Qing’s advancement.
Thanks to the resources within his space, Li Zhirui never skimped on Da Qing’s meals. Consequently, Da Qing enjoyed the finest treatment among all the spirit beasts owned by the family’s Qi Cultivators, never wanting for spirit fruits.
While Da Qing busied himself with the fruits, Li Zhirui finished tending to the spirit fields. Once his chores were complete, he and Da Qing exited the space together.
Li Zhirui allowed Da Qing to explore their temporary home while he sat down to begin his scheduled daily cultivation.
...
The conclusion of the spirit beast task did not mean Li Zhirui was idle. Since the clan had only recently relocated to Da Rong Island, a mountain of work remained. Before long, Li Zhirui and the others were recruited to assist with the heavy labor required for the move.
For a significant period following their arrival, the seventy-plus cultivators of the Li family were kept incredibly busy. Aside from their essential daily cultivation, they found almost no time to rest.
However, this constant activity served a purpose, helping the clan members move past the grief of losing their ancestral home and begin to feel a true sense of belonging on Da Rong Island.
As time marched on, the Li family successfully established their roots on the island, and the frantic pace of work finally began to slow.
On that very day, a second-order Spirit Vein was officially established on Da Rong Island. From that point forward, the cultivators no longer had to depend solely on spirit stones for their progress.
The clan leader, Li Shiqing, delivered another address to the family. He concluded by promising a prosperous future, after which the majority of the clan members were dismissed to return to their private lives.
Li Zhirui, however, did not leave with the others. According to the clan’s regulations, any cultivator in the late stages of Qi Cultivation was eligible to be considered for the position of Elder.
While the number of official Elder positions was limited, late-stage Qi Cultivators were permitted to attend high-level meetings. This allowed them to learn about clan management and ensured a smooth transition of power in the future.
Attendance wasn't mandatory—especially for those with no interest in authority—but Li Zhirui had just achieved a breakthrough. Furthermore, this was the first major assembly since the family’s relocation. Both out of duty and personal interest, he felt compelled to attend.
“Yesterday, a message arrived from my fifth brother. On the day we departed Bailang County, the Beast Taming Sect was annihilated by the White Jade Sect! Reports suggest that less than ten percent of their disciples survived!”
Li Shiqing’s opening statement was a bombshell that left everyone in the room stunned, struggling to process the magnitude of the news.
Though they had suspected such an outcome, hearing it confirmed filled them with a mixture of lingering dread and intense relief at their narrow escape.
“Second Brother, what was the White Jade Sect’s treatment of the Xie family, the Jiang family, and the other clans?” The first to break the silence was Li Shilian, the most senior member present.
“They were ordered to pay a fine of ten thousand Spirit Stones and were forced to surrender their ancestral lands.” The monetary fine was manageable, as ten thousand Spirit Stones was a trivial sum for a Foundation Establishment clan.
However, losing their ancestral lands was equivalent to severing the clan’s lifeblood. It was clear the White Jade Sect intended to dismantle these families without resorting to open warfare.
A wave of relief washed over the room. Had they not acted with such speed and resolve, they would likely be facing the same grim fate.
Yet, Li Zhirui felt a lingering worry that no one else had mentioned. Steeling himself, he asked, “Clan Leader, has the White Jade Sect put out any arrest warrants for the families that fled early?”
He was well aware that the White Jade Sect was backed by Nascent Soul Cultivators, and the Li family certainly wasn't the only group to have fled.
Even though Da Rong Island was far from Bailang County and separated by several continental powers, there was no guarantee that news of the Li family’s new location wouldn't eventually reach the White Jade Sect.
Li Zhirui’s question caused the tension in the hall to spike once again.
Li Shiqing looked at Li Zhirui with a surprised expression before smiling. “It appears the younger generation does not lack talent. It seems we are truly getting old.”
As a junior, Li Zhirui couldn't easily respond to such a comment. He simply gave an awkward laugh and tried to blend back into the background.
“I will instruct my fifth brother to have someone investigate this. For the sake of safety, the family must remain low-profile until we have more information,” Li Shiqing declared.
With that matter addressed, the discussion turned to the most critical topic: the future development of the Li family.
Li Shilian, who possessed the most knowledge regarding the White Jade Sect’s rule over Yunping State, offered his insight: “The counties of Yunbo, Yunhe, and Yunqing have all flourished due to their coastal positions, but Yunqing County is the most prosperous of them all.”
This was due to Yunqing County’s central location, acting as a hub between the northern and southern states, as well as its high density of Spirit Veins. The three second-tier Spirit Veins there provided a surplus of Spiritual Energy to the Yunqing Marketplace, making it a magnet for cultivators.
“Therefore, if our family intends to open storefronts, the Yunqing Marketplace is our best option.”
The Elders began to debate this suggestion, offering their various perspectives while Li Zhirui listened closely to their wisdom.
“Zhirui, do you have any thoughts on this?” Perhaps remembering his earlier contribution, Li Shiqing pointedly asked for the young man’s opinion.
After taking a moment to organize the information he had gathered, Li Zhirui replied, “I believe the family needs to overhaul our entire industrial structure.”
Back in Bailang County, because of the Beast Taming Sect’s dominance, all Spirit Beasts raised by subordinate families were sold merely as raw materials. The Beast Taming Sect would then process them into Spirit Food for a massive profit.
Li Zhirui recalled the two types of Spirit Food he had tasted when he reached the sixth level of Qi Cultivation, after Li Shiren took him to a restaurant owned by the Beast Taming Sect. He had sampled a ginseng stew made from Crimson Feather Chicken and crystal roasted pork from Tusked Swine.
Both dishes were delicious and capable of boosting a cultivator’s Mana, but they were expensive, costing twenty Spirit Stones for the pair.
Based on his estimates, a single Crimson Feather Chicken could produce at least six portions of stew, while one Tusked Swine could provide fifty servings of roasted pork.
When comparing the low price the Li family received for the live beasts to the final sale price of the food, it was obvious the Beast Taming Sect made a profit after selling only a tiny fraction of the meat!
