Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan Chapter 3 Departure
Previously on Rebuilding the Immortal Cultivator Clan...
While the Li family was preoccupied with their evacuation from Bailang County, a catastrophic event was unfolding at Wanling Mountain, the primary peak of the Beast Taming Sect!
The defensive Mountain Protection Array was under a relentless assault by Nascent Soul cultivators from the White Jade Sect and their disciples. It was clear that the fate of the Beast Taming Sect would be sealed the moment the barrier collapsed.
"Zhao, take the True Disciples and flee the Sect immediately using the secret chamber's Teleportation Array!" the Beast Taming Sect Leader ordered, pressing his storage ring into the younger man's hands.
As the youngest Golden Core cultivator in the sect, Zhao Yu was a rare talent with a Metal Spirit Root, widely seen as the person most likely to reach the Nascent Soul stage.
It was a tragedy of timing for Zhao Yu. Despite his meteoric rise—achieving the Golden Core stage in less than a century and reaching the Late Stage by his early two hundreds—he had been born in an unfortunate era.
The arrival of a Nascent Soul powerhouse from the White Jade Sect changed everything.
The Beast Taming Sect had long known that the White Jade Sect would target them once a Nascent Soul cultivator emerged. They had been stockpiling various Spiritual Objects in hopes of a future resurgence, but the enemy moved with unexpected lethality.
The White Jade Sect’s new Nascent Soul expert had launched the attack only a day after his breakthrough, not even pausing to stabilize his cultivation realm. The Beast Taming Sect was caught off guard, left with no room to maneuver.
Inside the storage ring given to Zhao Yu were vast quantities of Spirit Stones, various Spiritual Objects, Spirit Seeds, and jade slips. Most precious among them was the "Wanling Sutra," the core Cultivation Technique of their lineage.
"Brother, I want to stay..." Zhao Yu began.
His words were cut short by a frantic female cultivator who rushed in. "Sect Leader Brother, every Spirit Beast Egg and all younglings of the third grade and higher have been secured."
The Sect Leader nodded firmly. "Zhang, you are our most gifted Beast Tamer. I entrust these Spirit Beasts to your care."
When he saw Zhao Yu opening his mouth to protest again, the Sect Leader’s expression darkened. He commanded sharply, "Zhao, take Zhang and the other Disciples and depart the Sect this instant!"
"The Beast Taming Sect only survives if you all live!"
With tears blurring his vision, Zhao Yu looked at the pleading face of the Sect Leader. He turned away, his footsteps heavy as if he carried the entire weight of the sect’s future on his back.
"Hurry!"
Trembling, Zhao Yu seized Zhang and fled at top speed.
"The destiny of the Beast Taming Sect rests upon your shoulders!" the Sect Leader whispered to the empty air once they were gone. His face hardened with resolve as he flew into the sky to confront the White Jade Sect’s Nascent Soul ancestor, who was watching from above.
That night was consumed by flames and slaughter.
By the time the sun rose, the once-beautiful Wanling Mountain had become a graveyard of broken bodies and ruined earth.
Thus, the Beast Taming Sect, a power that had stood for over a millennium, was erased from the world on that day.
...
While that bloody struggle concluded, more than fifty members of the Bailang Li family had reached East Lake.
Watching the sorrow of his kin, Li Shiqing tried to comfort them. "As long as the people survive, the Li family lives on!"
Even so, Li Shiqing found it difficult to look away from the home they had occupied for over a century, his eyes reflecting the same grief as the others.
"Let us depart!"
Li Shiqing led the way onto the Spirit Boat, followed by Li Zhirui and the rest of the clan. Within thirty minutes, the vessel took flight, heading toward the eastern horizon and the open sea.
"Uncle Ren, why are there so many small children on this boat?" Li Zhirui whispered to Li Shiren.
The family had deployed two second-grade Spirit Boats. On Li Zhirui’s vessel, alongside twenty cultivators, there were hundreds of children only a few years old.
"These are Secular Clansmen who haven't had their Spiritual Roots tested. We are bringing them along in the hope that some will possess the talent to cultivate."
Li Shiren gestured toward the second vessel. "That boat carries our clansmen in their twenties. Once we reach Da Rong Island, they will adapt to the new land and ensure our lineage continues."
Li Zhirui understood, but the name was unfamiliar. Given his status as a talented junior, he felt comfortable asking, "What is Da Rong Island?"
"It is a branch our family secretly established a century ago. It houses over thirty thousand secular relatives, twenty cultivators, and one Foundation Establishment elder. It is named Da Rong Island because of the massive banyan trees that cover it," Shiren explained.
Now that they were committed to the journey, there was no longer a need for secrecy.
"The island is twenty thousand li northeast of Bailang County, but it sits only two hundred li away from the Profound Origin Continent. That territory is overseen by a Golden Core power called the Yuanming Sect," Li Shiren continued.
Through Li Shiren’s explanation, Li Zhirui and the others began to grasp the political landscape of their new home.
The Yuanming Sect was far weaker than the Beast Taming Sect, having only produced its first Golden Core cultivator a few decades ago. Consequently, it remained a subordinate to a more powerful Golden Core sect.
The Yuanming Sect Master directly governed a five-hundred-li area, while several scattered cultivation families lived in the surrounding waters.
Due to the sect's limited reach and the maritime geography, their control over these families was relatively loose.
Furthermore, three other Foundation Establishment families resided near Da Rong Island, though their relationships with one another were merely cordial.
"Rest while you can. There will be no time for it once we land on Da Rong Island," Li Shiren said, ending the conversation.
Li Zhirui walked to the railing, staring down at the dark, menacing depths of the ocean.
Growing up near the coast, Li Zhirui was well aware that the Boundless Sea was a dangerous place. Unlike the Profound Origin Continent, humanity did not rule here.
The true masters of the deep were the countless Sea Clan beasts and the naturally dominant Dragon Tribe.
In Bailang County, they faced a minor beast tide every ten years. He worried that an island in the middle of the sea might face threats many times more severe.
How had the small group of cultivators on the island managed to survive?
He then recalled that the Clan Leader and his aunt had returned years ago with a massive haul of Sea Clan spirit materials. This implied that the main family had been sending reinforcements to defend the island.
If three Foundation Establishment cultivators and twenty Qi Cultivation disciples could hold the line, perhaps the beast tides weren't as suicidal as he feared.
"Worried about the beast tides?" Li Shiren approached, his arrival silent.
Having watched his nephew grow, Li Shiren knew the boy was prone to overthinking. One could call it caution, or one could call it unnecessary anxiety.
Li Zhirui nodded, looking for reassurance.
"The other three families are all situated on the eastern side of Da Rong Island."
That single sentence was enough for Li Zhirui to understand the strategy.
With three other powers acting as a shield to draw the enemy's attention, the pressure on Da Rong Island would be significantly lower.
"Don't worry so much. Da Rong Island is a fine location. It might even offer the family a chance to prosper more than before," Shiren said comfortingly.
"It definitely will!" Li Zhirui replied with sudden conviction. He believed that without the Beast Taming Sect acting as an oppressive landlord, the family’s growth would be boundless.
Li Zhirui’s confidence was contagious, bringing a wide smile to Li Shiren’s face.
Li Shiren hoped that the "Zhi" generation would indeed lead the clan into a glorious new era.
