Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s Chapter 2333: 2269: Gang Beating

Previously on Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s...
Gao Wei and his group confront Du Jinruo and Kuang Yunxian, leading to a heated standoff. Refusing to flee, Kuang Yunxian stands his ground to protect Du Jinruo, while Gao Wei insults his social status. In a fit of rage, Du Jinruo exposes Gao Wei’s history of misconduct and his reliance on his father’s influence to stay in the Supervisor Guard Academy. Despite Gao Wei’s desperate excuses and promises to change, Du Jinruo remains disgusted by his hypocrisy and attempts to leave with Kuang Yunxian.

Gao Wei’s temper flared instantly, and he signaled his lackeys with a sharp wave of his hand.

“Xiao Ruo, stop testing my patience! Staying with this Kuang fellow will only lead you to ruin! He’s clearly manipulated your mind. Men, give this guy a brutal beating for me!”

Several thugs began to close in on them at once.

“Gao Wei, don't think you can do whatever you want just because your father protects you.” Kuang Yunxian shielded Du Jinruo behind him, his eyes scanning the group as he spoke in a low, threatening tone, “I’ve memorized all your faces. I might struggle to handle Gao Wei, but I can certainly find someone to ensure you all take a long trip to the police station if you insist on following him into this mess.”

The men traded looks for a second before erupting into mocking laughter.

“Gao Wei, tell us straight, would you ever leave us hanging?” one of the thugs jeered.

Gao Wei curled his lip in a sneer, “Not a chance. Ignore his empty threats. The Kuang Family is currently worse off than a stray dog; where would he find the influence to touch you? It seems he needs a good thrashing to wake up. Boys, let him have it!”

The words had barely left his mouth when a heavy fist slammed into Kuang Yunxian’s midsection.

A muffled thud echoed, the impact sounding painfully solid.

Kuang Yunxian doubled over instantly from the force.

Du Jinruo let out a piercing shriek. “Stop it! Please, stop hitting him!”

Her pleas fell on deaf ears.

Kuang Yunxian was primarily a man of books; how could he possibly hold his own against thugs who had been brawling since they were children? Before long, a rain of punches began to pelt his face and torso relentlessly.

While he was more agile and physically capable than a typical fragile scholar—occasionally dodging blows or finding a narrow opening to strike back—his efforts were ultimately futile.

The only sounds were the sickening thuds of boots and knuckles hitting flesh, drowned out by their crude insults.

“Take a look in the mirror, you pale-faced weakling! You think you can steal a woman from our Young Master Wei? Go to hell!”

“Kill him! Beat him to death!”

Watching Kuang Yunxian groan under the relentless assault, Du Jinruo was consumed by anxiety and agony. She threw herself at Gao Wei, clutching at him desperately, “Gao Wei, tell them to stop! Don’t let them hit him anymore! You’re going to kill him at this rate!”

Gao Wei seized the opportunity to grab her, dragging her to the side with a twisted, sinister smirk. He didn’t take his eyes off the beating for a second. “So what if I kill him? Why are you wasting your time with a loser like this anyway?”

“Gao Wei!”

With one hand trapped in his grip, Du Jinruo used her free hand to frantically pry at his fingers, attempting to break free. However, her strength was insignificant compared to Gao Wei’s.

Nearby, Kuang Yunxian had been battered to the point where he could no longer defend himself.

The attackers had moved beyond fists, kicking him without any mercy. Two boots landed squarely on his solar plexus, nearly knocking the breath out of his lungs.

Gritting his teeth against the pain, Kuang Yunxian forced himself up and lunged, grabbing an attacker's leg mid-kick and twisting with all his might to flip the man over.

In a life-or-death moment, a person's hidden strength can be formidable; as the man crashed down, he collided with another thug, sending them both sprawling to the ground.

“Son of a bitch!”

The remaining men cursed and launched a simultaneous barrage of kicks toward Kuang Yunxian’s chest.

“Brother Yun Xian!”

Du Jinruo turned her head and screamed in absolute terror.

Chiang Xiao happened to be approaching the area at that moment. Suspecting that Gao Wei might still be lurking near the shop, she had decided to stay close by. She arrived just as Du Jinruo’s scream pierced the air.

Her heart jolted, and she immediately broke into a full sprint toward the source of the commotion.
