"Eggs can roll away all they want, but my darling certainly won't! I am bringing her home this instant. Only other women are required to roll away."
While declaring this, he began washing her hands, his touch tender as he rubbed each of her fingers.
Chiang Xiao couldn't help but laugh as she observed his incredibly meticulous washing technique, and she playfully flicked a bit of water onto his face.
"Hurry up and finish washing!"
Meng Xinian gave an immediate reply, "Understood! Her Highness the Princess!"
Pursing her lips, Chiang Xiao allowed him to finish cleaning and drying her hands. She leaned back against the sofa, eyes fixed on him as she spoke, "Hmph, Tyrant Meng, you must have some ulterior motive for being so suddenly attentive!"
Meng Xinian found himself speechless. "Little, are you suggesting that I wasn't good enough to you in the past?"
"Not quite this good; I used to be the one wiping my own face and washing my own hands."
It seemed the little girl was dead set on tormenting him for the time being.
Well, fine—who else was to blame for teasing her earlier?
His precious beloved had arrived, yet he had told her to roll away; failing to greet her properly at the door was truly an unforgivable mistake.
Squatting down before her while holding her hand, he said, "Starting now, I will help you wipe your face, wash your hands, serve your tea, dress you, feed you, and carry you all the way to bed..."
"Get lost!"
Noticing how his eyes shimmered with excitement as he reached the end of his sentence, she knew there was a mischievous edge to his words.
"Quickly, take that basin and pour the water out!"
"As you command!" Meng Xinian finally carried the basin of water toward the kitchen area.
Chiang Xiao followed closely behind him.
Though called a kitchen, it was merely a cramped space, just large enough to cook a few dishes for a meal. Any more than that and the room would become overly crowded.
Located further inside was indeed a bathroom.
After Meng Xinian emptied the water, he rinsed the towel under the faucet, wrung it out, and brought it back out. Turning around, he noticed Chiang Xiao peeking inside and explained, "There aren't any windows here, so it lacks ventilation. The only way the towel will dry is if I hang it outside."
"I'm not stupid; I already knew that," Chiang Xiao huffed.
With a chuckle, Meng Xinian draped the towel over the rack's bar.
No matter how much she toyed with him, it was fine as long as she was by his side; she could hit or scratch him and he wouldn't mind.
Meng Xinian felt as though he had been deeply poisoned by her charms.
Chiang Xiao's eyes drifted over the rack.
Right next to her towel were two significantly larger ones, which clearly belonged to him.
On the shelf positioned above the towels sat two mouthwash cups side by side, containing a blue toothbrush and a red one.
A sudden wave of emotion washed over Chiang Xiao.
It turned out that even while living here in solitude, he had been gradually adding traces of her presence; it was no wonder he claimed he wanted to have everything ready.
The dormitory lacked fancy amenities, yet he had clearly done his utmost to set the place up for her.
For example, a small vase sat upon his desk. Even though it was currently empty, it was undoubtedly placed there for her to arrange flowers.
This was because she always kept vases filled with fresh blooms at their home and within her own space.
"Little, could you sit for a moment while I go take a shower, okay?" Meng Xinian couldn't find the words to describe how badly he wanted to embrace and kiss her right now, but he had just finished his training and was covered in sweat. Even if it wasn't obvious through his clothes, he felt he smelled of it, and he didn't want her to catch the scent.
"I just finished training, so I'm completely sweaty," he clarified.
Chiang Xiao let out a little giggle.
She understood exactly why he felt the need to shower.
This man simply could not resist pestering her every time they reunited after a period of separation. Right now, he was likely exerting a great deal of self-control to hold back.
