Vritra's group arrived at a settlement besieged by two hostile mutant groups, whom Ergen identified as notorious slavers. Vritra swiftly eliminated the threats by exploding their heads, earning sin points, before negotiating with the Rankers' leader to trade food supplies for the Ascension Path stone, which perfectly suited Yasmine. They then explored the adjacent mine, harvesting healing stones that bolstered Diana's powers and benefited Vritra's self-healing, leaving reserves for the Rankers. As darkness approached, a chilling voice from the sky announced they had been found.

"Found you!!" Suddenly, an icy voice echoed from above.

Vritra froze in place, his eyes snapping upward to spot a figure clad in dark attire.

It was the protector!

"Vritra Arclis, the one who destroyed a big part of the world bank, it is you!" he growled in a harsh tone.

"Oh, I am Adam, you got the wrong person." Vritra replied, preparing to unleash the Blood Demon Transformation.

That stood as his mightiest state right now, yet with his abilities locked down while the foe could wield a portion of theirs, it struck as utterly unfair.

In the heat of combat, however, such details faded into irrelevance.

Typically, his adversaries had always outmatched him by a wide margin.

"Run!" he bellowed, bolting off in another direction right as the protector lunged forward.

The others failed to respond swiftly enough, but fortunately, Vritra alone drew the pursuit.

The team stayed put, stunned and anxious, watching Vritra and the protector fade into the horizon.

"L-Let's head to a nearby building first; staying out in the open turns us into prime targets." Yasmine said, her fists gripped tightly.

Despite their fears, they pressed on, powerless to intervene at this moment.

After soaring a short distance, Vritra halted and spun around; escape proved hopeless regardless.

"Just come along with me; my mission is to escort you back, so I'd rather spare you any harm." The protector declared, drawing forth a spherical artifact.

Abruptly, he flung it at Vritra, where it expanded into a massive circular enclosure.

Yet Vritra dissolved into a surging river of blood, spreading outward in every path.

[Blood Demon Transformation!]

The enclosure snared a large volume of the blood but missed the rest, as Vritra's form reassembled nearby.

"I am not going to go back with you; the trial or whatever can wait until I finish up here." Vritra stated, fierce flames erupting from his clenched fists.

"Is that your choice?" the protector sighed, retracting the enclosure as steel chains slithered from beneath his garment.

"Yeah…" Vritra drew the spear, his awareness sharpened to the utmost.

CLANG

A chain whipped toward him without warning, nearly skewering his chest, only for the spear to knock it aside.

Vritra melted into a pool of blood while charging ahead, an outburst of blood erupting around to block the incoming chains.

[Blood Eagles!]

CHIEEEEEEEEE

CHIEEEEEEEEEEE

Numerous massive blood eagles barreled toward the protector, as Vritra drove the spear straight ahead.

The protector watched with composure, lifting his arm to unleash denser, heavier steel chains.

But in that instant, his face twisted; he glanced skyward sharply.

BOOOOM

A sudden blast hurled Vritra backward, detonating across the protector's frame and slamming him into the earth's depths.

Vritra flickered in and out of his blood form, managing to steady himself at last.

He peered upward in haste, beholding a man suspended high above, resembling an average middle-aged individual.

Vritra sensed it wasn't his true guise, introducing yet another contender into the fray.

"Uh oh, that's one of the administrators; they serve directly beneath the gods and enforce order within the game.

You risk exposure if he lays eyes on you." Divine warned, though he showed no eagerness to aid Vritra.

The protector rose to his feet, brushing dirt from his robe; the blow inflicted minimal harm, shattering only a handful of chains.

"Protector, I advise you to leave the game area immediately.

Whatever issues the world bank had, you shall not interfere with the games; the higher beings won't like it."

The administrator intoned, his voice flat and devoid of emotion.

"I just need this one person, and all of us will leave. If we can't capture and bring him back, we would have to face the higher beings, so we don't really have any choice."

The protector responded, standing his ground firmly.

The administrator's stare shifted to Vritra, positioned not far off, surprise flickering across his expression.

"Oh hmm? You are?"

"Hello, I am Adam, nice to meet you. Please resolve your issues; I will be taking my leave now." Vritra said, pivoting to soar away.

"Wait." Both men uttered in unison; fleeing seemed utterly unattainable.

"Yes?" He sighed, twisting back to inquire.

"Why do you… have the same code as one of the players? How did you get here? Who are you?" The administrator's eyebrows creased as he pulled up Vritra's data.

"…"

"Alright, I need both of you to follow me. We need to detain you and conduct a thorough investigation, but the game shall not be interrupted!" He commanded with resolve.

The protector inclined his head, drifting nearer to the administrator.

Vritra exhaled deeply and nodded too, his form rocketing upward.

"Good, don't worry; you will be sent back into the game after we are done with-" The administrator was mid-sentence when a chain abruptly impaled his back.

His eyes bulged wide, stunned that anyone would strike at him in his own domain.

In that moment, Vritra thrust the spear deep, its edge plunging into the administrator's heart and emerging from the rear.

Shock morphed into fury within his gaze; the administrator hacked up blood before hurling both assailants away with force.

He attempted to reach the other administrators, only to realize the area stood sealed by the protector.

"Looks like I overestimated your intelligence; for this crime, I am allowed to directly execute you both." The administrator stated with eerie calm.

Vritra and the protector shared a quick look; united by a common purpose for the moment, they surged ahead wordlessly.

BOOOOOM

Dreadful flames engulfed the heavens, while torrents of blood surged forth, smashing against the unseen barrier.

The administrator fended off their combined onslaught, debating whether to summon the gods or deploy divine retribution.

Yet facing the protector and the feeble human, he deemed it unnecessary and countered with heightened viciousness.

Spear and chains synced their efforts flawlessly; even as the weakest link, Vritra imposed heavy pressure on the administrator.

Any strike aimed at him met evasion on his part or deflection by the protector, and that spear even drew blood from the administrator's flesh.

'The protector's strength is similar to the administrator; sigh, I can't defeat them on my own.'

In a straightforward clash with either, death would claim him in an instant.

CLANG

A chain intercepted a blow that nearly shredded Vritra, enabling him to lunge and sever one of the administrator's limbs.

Vritra snatched the severed arm, flinging it back at the administrator.

[Blood Explosion!]

BOOOOM!

Chains battered the administrator simultaneously, as he scrambled to evade the relentless flurry.

'This is getting troublesome; I am still unable to contact the others. Looks like I will have to inform the gods directly; this is a serious matter.'

The administrator resolved inwardly; no force from Vritra or the protector could halt it.

Weaving clear of yet another assault, he withdrew an orb and shattered it, sending a surge of power streaking into the skies until it vanished.

A shadowed gloom settled on the protector's features; should the gods intervene, all resistance would crumble.

Vritra faced near-certain death, and the fugitive they sought would slip away forever.

Still, blocking that signal lay beyond their grasp.

"Stop; it is pointless to fight any longer. The gods must have already gotten the message.

You will both receive your punishments." The administrator declared with steady poise.
