My Talent's Name Is Generator Chapter 838 Last Base
Previously on My Talent's Name Is Generator...
Behind me, the portal ignited as I passed through, the usual warp of space unraveling while the scene of battle emerged clearly.
Yet another Hollow Star outpost hovered in front.
Similar to the previous ones, it was hewn from a wandering asteroid. A tall obsidian spire extended from the heart of the stone, encircled by lesser edifices clustered closely together.
Alarms blared the instant my boots hit the surface.
Crimson beacons pulsed across the spire and nearby constructions as Hollow Star's inhabitants detected the intruder's emergence from the gateway.
Almost right away, Phantoms streamed out of the facilities, accompanied by a pair of Eternals.
Upon spotting me isolated on the landing, the Phantoms charged ahead, their forms hurtling over the terrain with wisps of deathmist streaming in their wake.
While I observed their approach, an odd feeling washed over me. It was like I had detached from the immediate action, viewing the chaos from an elevated perspective instead of being immersed in the fray.
This sensation struck abruptly.
The surroundings appeared to decelerate to a near standstill.
The Eternals' obsidian, glassy gazes examined me with precision. The deathmist encircling the Phantoms wafted like languid twisting vapors, and the subtle horizontal luminescence on their visages intensified while their power amassed. I perceived the laws swirling near the outpost, faint flows clashing gently in the nearby void. The ongoing clash between the System and the outpost's shielding barrier grew evident too, with the unseen System power battering relentlessly against it as the barrier pushed back its intrusion.
Briefly, I remained stationary, taking in all details with utter sharpness.
Then comprehension dawned: my level had climbed to four hundred and ninety-nine at last. I teetered on the edge of Saint rank. This insight flashed through my thoughts as swiftly as the peculiar perception had arisen.
And in one mere instant of closing my eyes, normalcy resumed fully.
Deliberately, I lifted my arm.
A soft undulation emanated from my being, understated yet commanding, causing the whole asteroid to quiver beneath my intent's weight. The foes sensed it right away, their advances faltering under the unseen pressure bearing down on the area encircling them.
I whispered.
“Stop.”
Each Phantom, abomination, and Eternal halted in their tracks. Certain ones were caught in full sprint, while others poised to unleash strikes. They all froze rigidly, as though encased in unyielding rock.
This round, I didn't bother manifesting my domain. Just the weight of my determination extended over the field of conflict, pinning all in position. The onrushing abominations ceased abruptly, their malformed shapes fixed right in the midst of their dash from before. The disloyal ones dispersed throughout the outpost became immobilized too, their arms partially uplifted and faces still twisted in a mix of fury and shock.
Countless millions of abominations lingered immobile over the surface. Scores of hundreds of turncoats stayed ensnared in that rigid hush. None managed the slightest shift.
In a short while, I just lingered there, sensing the full scope of my transformation.
Strength flowed within me in even pulses, serene yet dominating completely. The void nearby yielded effortlessly to my command.
Right then, I sensed my might. In that fleeting second, I nearly felt unbeatable.
An unusual emotion stirred in my heart, subdued initially but intensifying steadily over time. This wasn't a deliberate scheme or a pondered action. Rather, it was an urge emerging from my innermost depths.
Without hesitation, I acted on it.
“Return,” I whispered.
The impact rippled out without delay.
Across the stalled field, the rigid figures started shifting. Sequentially, the abominations and betrayers held fast began to disintegrate, yet not into ash this time. Rather, their shapes fragmented into myriad minuscule flecks of untainted Essence that floated in the atmosphere like radiant specks of illumination.
The Phantoms underwent the same fate.
The deathmist comprising their forms abruptly imploded, shattering and unleashing a massive surge of Essence as the haze scattered. What was once shadowy and tainted morphed into torrents of primal power that merged with the ascending torrent nearby.
With a gentle flick of my wrist, the floating Essence obeyed.
The specks coalesced and rushed at me in a vortex. Verdant radiance flooded my frame and channeled straight to the Dawn Core, where the Abyss Core lay in wait.
Upon the Essence's arrival, absorption commenced immediately.
It all transpired in a flash. The vast volume of Essence melted away into the core, vanishing as if it had originated there all along.
In mere moments, the outpost lay barren. Silently, I remained, gazing at the hushed arena, still absorbing the feat I'd accomplished. The warnings droned on through the installations, though their activators had vanished.
Shifting attention inside, I peered at the Abyss Core.
Like a dark star ablaze within the Dawn Core, it roiled ceaselessly, dense flows of deathmist bursting forth and curling back repeatedly. The activity persisted unendingly, akin to a shadowy sea ensnared in perpetual tempest.
Yet something fresh had appeared within. A minuscule patch of verdant essence hovered amid the immense expanse of churning deathmist. Minuscule against the surrounding vast power, it seemed negligible, but it stayed vividly separate rather than blending into the ebony swirls encircling it.
Surprise made me blink.
“What is going on…” I uttered softly.
For verification, I extended my arm and pulled in ambient essence from the void beyond the asteroid. The verdant streams yielded readily to my desire, amassing before my hand prior to entering my form. I directed that force straight to the Abyss Core.
Yet as it neared the core, an unforeseen event occurred.
The Abyss Core disregarded it entirely. The ambient essence lingered briefly then glided past unabsorbed, like the core held zero regard for it.
A light scowl crossed my face.
“Are they different?” I whispered.
Previously, I'd figured the verdant essence I'd taken in was merely ambient essence freed from the foes' corpses. Yet maybe not. Since the Abyss Core embraced one while spurning the other, the power I'd consumed lately had to be wholly distinct.
“I will need to test it further,” I murmured low.
That reflection hung in my thoughts as I set the finding aside temporarily. No matter the true nature of that verdant essence, it evidently acted unlike the ambient essence pervading the surroundings.
Still, that puzzle awaited future probing.
From the vacant arena, I averted my gaze and directed it to the group that had crossed the portal alongside me.
