My Talent's Name Is Generator Chapter 834 Dead Star
Previously on My Talent's Name Is Generator...
In a single stride, I spanned the plaza instantly, materializing right in front of General Kharzun.
The demon general remained statue-like. Subtle glows pulsed from the scarlet etchings on his armor as he peered down at me, before his resonant chuckle thundered through the open space.
"Hahaha. Your name is spreading far and wide, Mr. Billion," he declared, his tone echoing with delight. "I was dying to meet you, and who would have thought fate would bring us together like this."
I offered a faint smile and dipped my head.
"It is good to see you again, General."
His eyes examined me briefly, evidently assessing the shift in my aura from our previous encounter. The gleam in his gaze intensified with curiosity, yet his grin persisted unchanged.
I directed my focus a bit toward the individual positioned next to him.
"Commander Saleos."
Saleos advanced a short step. A spark of thrill shone in his eyes.
"Mr. Billion," he responded with a courteous bow of his head. "You have grown strong again."
I let out a quiet laugh.
"Great battles require great strength, Commander."
Saleos agreed with a swift nod.
"It sure does."
In their rear, Primus observed the interaction with arms crossed, as the trio of additional demon transcendants lingered quietly. Surrounding us, the gathered armies had completed their formations, with tens of thousands of fighters arrayed in orderly hush.
At last, I directed my sight to the sole figure accountable for this spectacle.
"Lyrate," I stated evenly. "Would you explain?"
She drifted ahead a touch, the edge of her scarlet gown swaying softly in the breeze as she advanced. Her smile stayed radiant, and the evident pride in her features was clear as she surveyed the vast assembly of troops overflowing the city.
"You asked for people," she remarked breezily. "So I brought them."
Her eyes twinkled.
"Well," she added, waving casually at the forces encircling us, "Primus was very enthusiastic when he heard the idea."
Primus huffed softly but offered no contradiction.
"The moment she mentioned seventy-two targets," he explained, "I decided it would be a shame if we didn't participate."
Kharzun unleashed another hearty guffaw.
"The Demon Monarch's army does not often receive invitations to such entertaining wars," he noted. "When Commander Saleos informed me of the opportunity, I decided it would be foolish to miss it."
Saleos tipped his head modestly in my direction.
"And once word spread through our command structure, volunteers became… plentiful."
I scanned the plaza once more.
Ten thousand demons formed precise lines. Further out stood the tiger-tribe Ferans and the insectoid soldiers, their ranks extending over the emptied urban areas like troops ready for a massive continental conflict.
"Well," I responded deliberately, "I understood how the demon forces gathered after seeing you, General, but I am more interested in how the Ferans and—"
I lifted a finger faintly toward the insectoid formations arrayed over the plaza.
"—they ended up here."
Lyrate acknowledged with a nod, as though anticipating the inquiry.
"Well, I had an idea," she mentioned offhandedly. "I thought it might be worthwhile to convince Kael Sharka, the Sharka tribe general from Feradros. Right now Feradros is in a bit of chaos because certain someone killed their top forces."
General Kharzun and Commander Saleos both turned their eyes to me simultaneously.
Neither uttered a sound.
I acted oblivious.
"When I met him," Lyrate went on, "he was reluctant at first. Understandable, considering the situation. But after a brief conversation that I had he agreed to assist. All these tiger-tribe grandmasters you see here are from the Sharka clan."
She concluded as if she had simply set up a minor gathering instead of rallying five thousand Feran warriors from across the stars.
I regarded her briefly, pondering precisely what she had done to "convince" a Feran war general.
In the end I decided it was better not to ask.
"Great work, Lyrate," I commended with a steady nod. "That's a very sound judgment."
"Thank you," she answered right away, resting a hand gently on her chest. "It means a lot to hear praise from you, Leader."
As she spoke, her glance flicked momentarily to Aurora.
Aurora's face stayed utterly impassive.
I cleared my throat.
"And the other force?" I inquired, looking toward the insectoid troops.
For the first time Lyrate's composure wavered just a tad.
Only a tad.
"Well," she said following a short hesitation, "the teleportation portal here connects to a trade hub called Bbookair. That hub happens to be under the administrative control of the Insectoid race."
She shrugged one shoulder delicately.
"On our way back through the hub they tried to punish us for rushing through their territory."
Silver murmured quietly from behind me. "That was probably a mistake."
Lyrate paid him no mind.
"As you know," she proceeded steadily, "I was simply following your orders. Therefore I had no choice but to go meet their leaders and convince them to join our mission."
She motioned casually at the enormous insectoid force positioned across the plaza.
"And they agreed."
For several moments, silence reigned.
Knight tilted subtly toward Steve and murmured, audible enough for a few of us to catch.
"I feel like the word 'convince' is doing a lot of work in that sentence."
Steve inclined his head consideringly.
"Extremely flexible word."
Kharzun, though, erupted in boisterous laughter.
"Hahaha! I like Lady Lyrate," the demon general proclaimed with approval. "Efficient negotiations."
Saleos gave a single nod.
"Very efficient."
I massaged my temple for a second, then dropped my hand and surveyed the colossal army now filling the city.
Twenty-five thousand elite warriors.
All assembled in one spot.
I allowed my eyes to drift gradually over them before resuming.
"Well," I announced composedly, "that solves the manpower problem."
My attention returned to the assembly before me.
"Which means we can begin planning the real operation."
Primus advanced.
"I have brought some of our rune masters as well," he mentioned. "They can help set up portals directly between the bases so we don't have to return here every time. They can also establish a portal that connects directly to Armus."
I nodded.
"Thanks, Primus. That will help us a lot. Of course, before we finalize all the logistics, I want us to begin the action immediately. The longer we wait, the more time they have to regroup, bring reinforcements, or abandon their positions. I want those bases destroyed and brought under our control before that happens."
Primus nodded in agreement.
General Kharzun spoke next. "How do you want to proceed?"
"Each transcendent will take a portion of the forces and move through the portals to the bases," I outlined. "Clear them out and leave soldiers behind to take control of the location. Once that's done, move to the next one."
I halted for a moment.
"With the number of forces we have here, we should finish this in only a few rounds. And let's call this operation: Dead Star."
