My Celestial Ascension Chapter 918 918: Vast Difference
Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
A thick hush swiftly enveloped the chamber. Yuan and his companions kept their silence, gazing at Evander—the Vampire King—with keen fascination.
Nerith seemed a touch uneasy, fretting over the Vampire King's forthcoming words on forging the alliance.
Having mulled over the perilous circumstances, Evander fixed Nerith with a piercing gaze.
'The looming peril seems nearly inescapable without uniting in an alliance to battle the Undead King's enormous horde together…' he mused, strain etched plainly across his features.
'Even merging our powers, repelling such an immense wave of undead warriors would prove incredibly tough… unless additional kingdoms enter the pact,' he reflected silently, grasping the full magnitude of the danger.
After pondering a moment longer, Evander drew in a steadying breath and declared, "Alright, Princess Nerith. We will form an alliance with your empire to defend the great border… we absolutely cannot allow the undead to cross it."
Nerith's eyes sparkled instantly upon hearing this. Relief washed over her, easing the burden that had weighed so heavily on her mind.
"Excellent, Your Majesty. Once my brother learns of this favorable news, he will be thrilled," Nerith responded with a courteous grin.
"I am merely fulfilling the necessary actions to protect my subjects. My kingdom faces peril too if the undead breach the border—they will target us next," Evander answered gravely.
He went on, "Prior to their arrival at the border, we need to band together and gear up for retaliation. Without solidarity against this horrifying power, we'll stand no chance after they overrun us."
"You are absolutely right, Your Majesty. The moment has come to join forces anew and endure this ordeal," Nerith agreed, offering a soft nod.
"Have no doubts, Princess. I shall promptly command my troops to ready for battle. As this conflict demands victory for our very existence, I refuse to remain idle."
"That would be splendid. Let us wish for the finest outcome," Nerith inclined her head with a subtle smile.
Next, Nerith presented Yuan and his group to King Evander, leaving him stunned by their background revelations.
King Evander eyed Yuan and the rest in astonishment, struggling to believe these individuals had traversed the enigmatic storm wall encircling the Demonic Continent.
Passing through that barrier was deemed unfeasible; folks scarcely ventured close, given the gigantic sea beasts patrolling those seas.
'T-These folks are anything but commonplace… Having breached the enigmatic storm barrier, they must possess formidable might,' King Evander contemplated, scrutinizing Yuan and his allies with an odd intensity.
"Young man, you are the first humans I have encountered in a thousand years," he stated, smiling at Yuan. "This comes as quite the shock, even to me… In bygone days, humans seldom strayed near my domain."
"They all feared that we would capture them and suck their blood dry, leaving nothing but empty husks… You people are quite different from the rest of humanity," he appended with a subtle grin, his red eyes flashing momentarily.
"Please do not compare us with other humans… it would be an insult to do so," Yuan responded steadily, meeting King Evander's gaze directly.
This statement startled both King Evander and Nerith, who gaped at Yuan in astonishment.
'How could it be an insult? Aren't they humans as well?' Nerith pondered, utterly baffled.
"Oh? How would it be an insult? Aren't you human as well?" King Evander inquired, arching his eyebrows as his interest grew.
Yuan inhaled deeply, a subtle smile gracing his lips as he explained, "It's quite simple, actually. We are different because there are no shackles holding us back. As for the rest of the humans, they are all bound by shackles they cannot break—even the so-called gods are bound by those very same shackles."
"Even those so-called gods could not break these shackles. Without the knowledge required to shatter them, it would be impossible," Yuan pressed on, his statements so deep and enigmatic that only his companions grasped their true import.
'What shackles is he talking about? I don't understand a single word he said… it's as if he's speaking about something restraining humans—even the so-called gods!' Nerith cried out in her thoughts, totally bewildered.
Each phrase from Yuan sailed right past her, slipping in one ear and out the other. The sole certainty she held was that Yuan and his group were exceptionally extraordinary.
His utterances held a disturbing profundity, hinting at earth-shattering secrets he had no plans to disclose fully.
King Evander mulled it over briefly, attempting to decipher Yuan's reference to "shackles." Such an idea was utterly foreign to him, resembling mere nonsense.
He let out a quiet sigh and remarked, "Yuan, I couldn't comprehend your words just now. Could you explain more clearly so I may understand?"
"What he means is that he stands far above the rest of the humans of this world… They cannot be compared to him. If one were to try, the difference would be as vast as that between the earth and the sky," Long Yuyan stated evenly, without so much as glancing at King Evander.
To her, the Vampire King amounted to little more than a youngster; the gap in experience and power yawned too wide. She saw no reason for a vampire of his caliber to earn her deference.
Beyond Yuan and his wives, no other soul in this realm merited her esteem. Be they monarchs or rulers, all paled in her view.
Nerith and Evander regarded Long Yuyan with shock, unprepared for such a blunt portrayal of the divide.
'Just who is this young human? How can he be so different from the rest?' King Evander questioned inwardly, thoroughly confounded by her declaration.
He then examined Long Yuyan more intently, focusing on her distinctive traits. Her horns, eyes, and bearing set her apart from any he had known.
'Who is this woman? What kind of demi-human race does she belong to? I've never encountered anything like her…' he reflected, eyeing her with sharp intrigue.
"This young lady, I must admit I am confused by your appearance. Would you mind telling me what type of demi-human you are?" King Evander ventured at last, his curiosity overflowing.
He also cast looks toward Xi Meili and Fang Xiaoyan, sensing they too deviated from typical human essence.
Observing them, he continued, "And you two don't seem to belong to any demi-human race I know either. Care to explain?"
"I'm curious about that as well but hadn't had the chance to ask. I would very much like to know what kind of demi-humans you three are," Nerith chimed in, nodding softly with sincere wonder in her gaze.
Xi Meili, Fang Xiaoyan, and Long Yuyan tensed noticeably at the query, and the room's air grew icy in an instant.
Their gazes flickered with light for a split second, unleashing a crushing aura that bore down heavily, almost smothering everyone present.
