My Celestial Ascension Chapter 880: A Pile Of Empty Plates
Previously on My Celestial Ascension...
At first glance, the city appeared tranquil, yet the activities within its walls were anything but normal. The sight of slaves was common throughout the streets, creating an unsettling atmosphere that was impossible to overlook.
As Yuan and his wives traversed the thoroughfares of Hexoria City, they became the center of public attention. Their physical appearances were far too distinct compared to the local population.
“Shall we grab a bite before searching for a place to stay?” Yuan inquired with a grin, his stomach emitting a faint rumble.
Upon hearing his suggestion, a broad smile lit up Xi Meili’s face, her excitement becoming palpable. Little Zoe appeared equally enthusiastic.
“Let’s eat! Let’s eat!” Xi Meili exclaimed, her eyes gleaming as she nodded her head vigorously.
“I am also feeling quite famished... let us dine first and settle our next move afterward,” Anna Grace remarked, offering a gentle smile while softly taking his hand.
“Perhaps we should seek directions from someone? We are completely unfamiliar with this area,” Rose pointed out.
“That won't be necessary. The aroma of delicious food is already drifting from up ahead. Follow me, and I will guide us there,” Xi Meili said, her eyes sparkling as she trailed the scent lingering in the air.
“Very well, we will leave it to you, Xi Meili,” Rose said with a soft chuckle and a nod.
’Does she possess the nose of a hound?’ Nyx wondered, watching Xi Meili with a look of mild confusion.
Guided by Xi Meili, Yuan and his wives soon arrived at a bustling restaurant specializing in various meat delicacies.
“Greetings, we require a table. Somewhere quiet would be ideal,” Yuan addressed the receptionist at the door.
The receptionist, however, failed to respond, staring at Yuan and his wives with a peculiar gaze, as if she were observing exotic specimens in a menagerie.
“Ah—did you say something?” the receptionist finally asked, an apologetic and slightly embarrassed smile appearing on her face.
“I requested a table where we can enjoy some peace and quiet. We prefer not to be interrupted,” Yuan stated again, shaking his head with a light sigh.
“Oh, of course! I was momentarily distracted... please forgive me,” the receptionist apologized quickly, her embarrassment evident.
“It is no trouble, provided you have a table available... ideally a private one,” Yuan answered with a smile, causing a faint blush to creep onto the receptionist's cheeks.
“We have a private chamber typically kept for merchants that hasn't been reserved yet. If you seek total privacy, it is yours—though the cost is significant,” she explained, maintaining a polite smile.
“If the price is acceptable, I can book it for you this instant. It also includes several premium services if you are interested.”
“What is the price?” Anna Grace asked, smiling confidently.
“Fifty gold coins, exactly,” the receptionist replied promptly, a wide grin forming on her face.
Yuan nodded and, with a calm motion, produced fifty gold coins from his system storage and passed them to her.
The receptionist was visibly stunned by the ease with which Yuan paid such a high price without a moment's hesitation. His composed manner left her deeply impressed.
’He must belong to an incredibly wealthy clan, perhaps even nobility! I must ensure our establishment offers the finest hospitality to this lord and his party!’ the receptionist thought with excitement.
“Please follow me. I will show you to your private room,” the receptionist said, wearing the brightest smile she could muster as she escorted them inside.
“This is the private suite our restaurant provides. I trust it meets your approval. Here is the menu—you are welcome to order whatever you desire,” she added with courtesy.
A moment later, Yuan and his wives ordered every single item on the menu, leaving the receptionist in a state of shock at the massive quantity of food requested at once.
She stared at them blankly as her hand moved hurriedly to record the names of the dishes.
In all her years, she had never encountered such an outrageous order. It was her first time seeing patrons request so much food in a single sitting.
If such guests visited frequently, the restaurant might actually suffer a loss rather than turning a profit.
’This is madness!! How can they possibly consume all of this?! Are they here to play a prank on us?!’ the receptionist screamed internally, her suspicion growing.
Nevertheless, because Yuan had paid the full amount in advance, she felt somewhat reassured that he and his party wouldn't be deserting the bill later.
“I have recorded everything... please wait while I instruct the chefs to begin your meal,” the receptionist said with a soft smile before exiting.
Minutes later, the feast began to arrive in waves, carried by several demon girls in maid attire.
“I shall leave you now. Please enjoy your dinner, honored guests,” the receptionist said politely, withdrawing to allow Yuan and his wives their privacy.
Once she was gone, Yuan and his wives immediately fell upon the food, clearing plate after plate with startling speed.
As the meal progressed, one side of the table became crowded with empty dishes, piling up into a small mountain. The servers continued to bring more, but they could not keep pace with the rate at which Yuan and his wives ate.
The staff was completely floored by their monstrous appetites. Most of the restaurant's employees were now occupied solely with serving Yuan’s private room, yet they still struggled to keep up.
While Yuan and his wives enjoyed their banquet, the entirety of Hexoria City had already begun to buzz with talk of them.
Rumors regarding the unique looks of Yuan and his wives spread like a wildfire across the city. The news reached every corner of the streets in an instant.
A massive crowd of demons congregated outside the restaurant, with everyone discussing the newcomers.
The common folk were kept at bay by the guards hired by the establishment. Since the restaurant was an elite venue reserved for the wealthy—
Ordinary citizens could only dream of dining there. Unable to enter, they could only linger outside, waiting for Yuan and his wives to emerge.
“When are they coming out?”
“I’m not sure... I’ve been waiting for nearly an hour.”
“As have I. I heard the gossip and rushed over just to catch a glimpse of them.”
“I heard they have short ears and pale skin, though some have different complexions. A few even possess horns—far longer than our own.”
Whispers quickly filled the air in front of the restaurant. Everyone was debating the identity of the mysterious group that had arrived in their city.
Elsewhere, within a grand room featuring a lavish interior, sat a seductive demoness. She possessed a mature, alluring figure and was dressed in an elegant, stunning gown.
She exuded an air of dignity. Her amber eyes fixed on the servant before her with such force that the servant began to shake with fear.
“Have you verified the identities of those who appeared in the city and caused this disturbance?” the woman inquired, her voice soft yet heavy with authority.
“I have identified them... they are humans, along with several demihumans. Two appear to be demihumans as well, though their exact nature is unclear. The entire group is shrouded in mystery,” the servant answered gravely, sweat drenching his brow.
“Oh? In what way? Are they some sort of incomprehensible monsters? Do they have strange shapes?” the woman asked calmly, her brow arching slightly.
The servant felt his heart race the moment he saw her expression. His legs shook as if an unseen hand were squeezing his throat, making it hard to breathe.
Taking a deep breath, the servant spoke, “Lady Hexryn, every member of that group possesses an incredibly unique aura... one so deep that I could not understand it despite my knowledge.”
“Furthermore, I could not read them at all. I am unaware of their true intent for coming here and suddenly entering our continent.”
“Is that so?” the woman—Lady Hexryn—murmured softly before dismissively waving the servant away. “Then I shall observe them myself to discover why they have come.”
Lady Hexryn was the matriarch of the Hexryn household, one of the four noble pillars of the Demonic Empire that governed the empire's four major cities.
“A group of humans appearing in my city without warning... it is far too peculiar. Truly suspicious... I must look into this at once and notify His Majesty of these trespassers,” Lady Hexryn whispered, a stern look appearing on her face as she stood up.
She immediately penned a letter to the Demon Emperor’s palace and sent an envoy to deliver it, recognizing the gravity of the situation.
Those who invaded the continent could have any number of dark intentions, particularly since demons and humans had been rivals for ages.
“Now that the message is away, I shall personally meet these humans and demihumans who have entered our lands,” Lady Hexryn said quietly before departing the room.
Meanwhile, after consuming hundreds of plates, Yuan and his wives finally finished their meal. They were very pleased with both the food and the hospitality shown by the demons.
They were somewhat surprised by how welcoming the demons were, given how they were often portrayed as creatures of pure evil—seeds of darkness destined to destroy the world.
However, after this first encounter, the views held by Yuan and his wives were beginning to shift.
“I feel much better now... my stomach was growling incessantly before. I was so hungry... I don’t think I can manage another bite,” Xi Meili muttered, patting her belly which had rounded slightly from the feast.
A few moments later, the receptionist came back into the room with a strained expression. She froze instantly upon seeing the colossal stack of empty plates covering the table.
’What on earth am I seeing?! Did they truly consume all of this?! This is impossible!!’ she screamed in her head, feeling as though she might faint from the shock.
“The meal was excellent... we truly appreciated your hospitality,” Yuan remarked with a smile, producing a small pouch of gold coins. “Please accept this as a token of our thanks for your service.”
“I-I am pleased you enjoyed the food...” the receptionist stammered, her voice shaking slightly as she accepted the pouch with trembling hands.
