My Celestial Ascension Chapter 868: Cassius’s Demise

Nyx stood frozen, her eyes bulging in sheer astonishment as she stared at the solitary bead of obsidian liquid resting on Emma’s fingertip. A wave of realization crashed over her like a massive tide.

’Could it truly be what I suspect?’ Nyx wondered, her thoughts spinning with frantic speed as she grasped the nature of the dark substance.

’This is beyond belief... a toxin so potent that even I possess no resistance. A single touch would end my life instantly!’ she admitted to herself, gripped by a sudden terror regarding the fate Emma had prepared for Cassius.

In that moment, a flicker of strange compassion touched her heart—Cassius was destined for an end far more agonizing than a swift execution. It was a viciously appropriate conclusion for a fool arrogant enough to cross them.

Cassius and his subordinates glared at the black droplet with confusion, but it didn't take long for them to feel its terrifying aura just by standing in its presence.

A searing ache began to claw at their lungs the moment they breathed in the fumes drifting from the liquid. The scent was deceptively sweet, reminiscent of fine perfume... yet it smelled of nothing but death.

Strength vanished from their limbs the second the fragrance hit them. One after another, they felt their vitality being siphoned away by an unseen force, drained simply by being near the girl.

A horrific question burned in their minds—what would happen if that black fluid actually touched their skin? Would it be a bloody end? A torment more hellish than the grave?

The mere thought sent violent shivers down their spines as their frames shook with a growing sense of doom.

Though they desperately wished to flee, an oppressive, invisible weight held them rooted to the spot; not a single muscle would obey their command.

’This is a disaster. If this continues, we are all dead men!’ Cassius bellowed in his mind, his heart hammering with pure panic.

Gritting his teeth, he forced his Mana to surge outward, attempting to bolster his strength enough to break the unseen shackles.

His efforts were futile. No matter how hard he struggled, his body remained as rigid as if it had been turned to solid stone.

"Hmph. Your resistance is meaningless... Your life was forfeit the very moment you arrived here to insult my mother," Emma declared with a freezing tone, her voice dripping with sheer contempt.

"P-Please... have mercy..." Cassius managed to choke out, using every ounce of his remaining will to beg.

"The time for mercy has passed... you shall pay for your hubris with your life," Emma answered with eerie calm, letting the black drop fall toward his skin.

The instant the liquid made contact, it vanished into his flesh, burrowing deep as if the venom possessed a consciousness of its own.

"Aaaaaaa!!" A harrowing scream tore from Cassius as the toxin flooded his veins, racing toward every vital organ.

Agony pierced his chest like a red-hot blade; his complexion turned ghostly pale before shifting into a sickly, unnatural black, a sight so gruesome it left the onlookers paralyzed with dread.

"W-What is happening to our leader?!"

"Why is his body turning black?!"

The men of the Red Dragon trembled as panicked whispers erupted among them, their features twisted in horror. Though Emma had terrified them, the sight of their master’s condition briefly overrode their fear.

"You wretched girl! What have you done to him?!" a member of the Red Dragon barked, his voice cracking despite his knees knocking together.

Emma didn't bother to look at him. She merely lifted her hand, allowing another bead of black liquid to form before flicking it straight at the man’s brow.

"Aaaaaa!!!" he shrieked as the droplet hit home. The skin where it landed began to bubble and rot, dissolving into a foul-smelling, dark slurry.

Total chaos broke out among the Red Dragon members. They fought against the invisible pressure with desperate strength, but the grip was absolute; there was no way out.

Cassius thrashed in a torment that surpassed death itself. His cries devolved into a wet, muffled rasp as dark blood seeped from his lips. He cursed the very greed and obsession that had led him to this miserable end.

He was utterly helpless—his Mana was gone, his organs were failing, and the poison moved through his marrow like liquid fire.

His flesh began to peel away as the toxin consumed him from the inside out; it was a slow, agonizing demise where every heartbeat brought new torture. He had never envisioned such a pathetic and sudden end for himself.

When the life finally left Cassius, Emma withdrew her pressure. Instantly, the surviving syndicate members crumpled to the ground, extinguished by her sheer force before a single plea for life could be uttered.

The onlookers remained in a deathly silence, trapped between terror and total disbelief.

Emma then commanded her poison to melt the corpses into pools of dark ichor; the liquid hissed against the pavement for a second before evaporating entirely.

The remains turned to smoke and drifted away, leaving the ground pristine, as if no one had ever stood there.

The display left Nyx shaken to her core. She had always held the belief that her own toxins were the most formidable in the world. But after seeing her daughter's power, she realized her own abilities were no longer even in the same league as Emma’s.

It was undeniable that Emma’s poison was far more advanced and devastating—so much so that Nyx herself felt a genuine chill of fear.

’How did her poison reach such a terrifying level? Is it due to those unusual Cultivation methods? Or is it because of Yuan?’ she mused, her mind troubled by the revelation.

A flood of questions filled her head as she compared the destructive force of Emma’s toxin to her own. Yet, no matter how she searched, no easy answers came to her.

The disciples of the Green Viper Organization were just as stunned, watching the scene with wide eyes and open mouths, completely immobilized by the shock.

"Is that truly our Princess? Her power is beyond comprehension!"

"I-I can hardly believe my eyes... that sight sent shivers straight down my spine!"

"I’m starting to fear the Princess... she might be even more ruthless than the Leader!"

The Green Viper members exchanged anxious whispers before they began to slowly move away.

Now that the danger had been erased, they returned to their posts, resuming their watch over the estate and the surrounding territory.

The moment Emma stepped back inside the mansion, a pair of strong, warm hands pulled her into a soft embrace. A genuine, warm smile replaced the icy mask she had worn outside.

"That was spectacular... You didn't give that worm a single moment to breathe before ending him!" Yuan remarked with pride, pulling Emma onto his lap with a look of pure admiration.

Emma beamed at him, looping her arms around his neck to give him a soft kiss. The display of affection made Nyx’s eye twitch, feeling slightly out of place watching such a private moment.

When they finally pulled apart, Emma looked at Yuan with a proud, small smile and asked, "What is your verdict on my poison? It has progressed significantly, hasn't it? My toxins are much more lethal than they used to be."

"I witnessed it myself, and it is truly impressive how much your poison has evolved in such a short window of time." Yuan nodded, clearly impressed by the leaps she had made in her Cultivation and overall power.

’The months she spent training with her mother were clearly productive. Her strength and Cultivation have reached a whole new level.’ Yuan thought, a faint smile playing on his lips.

After a short silence, Nyx turned to Yuan, her expression growing somber as she began to speak.

"Yuan, with Cassius and his subordinates dead on my doorstep, the other two major organizations are going to turn their full attention toward us. You’ve surely anticipated this, haven't you?" she asked, her gaze searching.

"Of course, I already expected this outcome. However, I doubt they will have the courage to make a move or threaten you in the near future," Yuan replied with total composure, as if the future were an open book to him.

"That is a fair point, dear son-in-law." Nyx let out a soft chuckle as she settled onto a plush sofa. "But that doesn't mean they will stay idle. They will likely be here soon, demanding a full explanation."

"Hmm..." Yuan paused to consider this for a second. Then, he looked at her with a bold smirk and said, "Would you like me to wipe them out for you? I’ll do it as a favor."

Nyx’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief at his words. She couldn't process what she had just heard. Eradicating the two most dominant criminal syndicates in the city?

’What goes on in this boy's head?! Destroying the two most powerful organizations... does he think it's as easy as taking a breath?!’ she screamed internally, her mind reeling.

Yuan and his wives exchanged knowing grins at Nyx’s stunned silence. Even Emma was smirking, clearly amused by her mother’s shock.

"Mom, you only need to say the word. If it's your wish, we can wipe them off the map instantly. It’s actually quite simple for us," Emma added with a calm, confident smile that only deepened her mother’s bewilderment.

Nyx took a long, slow breath to steady her nerves. The day’s events had been overwhelming, and she needed a moment to process everything. Her mind felt like it was on the brink of a breakdown from the sheer absurdity of it all.

She finally exhaled and said, "There is no need for such drastic measures. Since I will be leaving with you, there is no point in destroying them."

This time, it was Yuan and his wives who were caught off guard. They stared at Nyx, trying to make sense of her sudden declaration.

Noticing their confusion, Nyx spent the next few minutes explaining her choice—why she was prepared to leave her legacy and her organization behind just to remain by her daughter’s side.

Meanwhile, the news of Cassius’s death had already surged through every alley of the Lawless City. The entire population was left reeling by the news, which was both shocking and yet strangely inevitable.

Everyone was aware of Cassius’s fixation on Nyx. Many had long whispered that his obsession would eventually be his undoing.

Now that he had indeed perished because of that very madness, shockwaves traveled through the city. Like a raging fire, the news moved from one district to the next, becoming the only topic of conversation on everyone's lips.
