My attributes are increasing infinitely Chapter 357: Investigation
Previously on My attributes are increasing infinitely...
Ethan gave a subtle nod.
He stood there, waiting for the representative to emerge and grant him passage into their hidden domain.
However, before the guide could even initiate contact with the emissary, Ethan sensed a colossal aura rapidly approaching their position.
This individual was a powerhouse at the tier 27, dimension master level.
“My friend, a person of your caliber should have located us long ago. Why is it that you have only just arrived?” the man inquired, a smile playing on his lips.
Ethan maintained a calm gaze as he looked at the newcomer. Then, a smirk crossed his face as well.
“Because I didn’t give a shit about this secret organisation until recently. I got bored, so I decided it was time to track you guys down.”
The emissary let out a boisterous laugh. He had a penchant for these kinds of arrogant punks; they were the perfect fit for their supreme organisation.
“Very well, brat, let’s move. I’ll escort you to the inner region.”
Ethan nodded in agreement.
A gateway manifested before them, and the two stepped through the portal.
Upon emerging on the other side, Ethan felt a flicker of surprise.
While the rest of the world was completely drained of mana, this particular realm was overflowing with it, highly concentrated. Furthermore, this mana carried a poisonous attribute.
It appeared he had successfully located his target.
“How did you achieve this?” Ethan asked with genuine curiosity.
The emissary wore a self-satisfied expression. “Are you astonished? Do you now want to lick my toes?”
Snap!
“Aaaah! Which son of a bitch dares to attack me?” the man shrieked as something clamped down on his toes the moment he finished mocking Ethan.
Looking down, he discovered that his assailant was a tiny dog. It was minuscule, no larger than a palm, yet this little shit was actually a tier 9 existence.
“Where the fuck did this thing come from?” he stammered, caught off guard.
“Now my pet has licked your toes. Would you tell me now?” Ethan questioned, his voice dripping with mockery.
“This thing belongs to you? Where did you get something like this?” the emissary asked, his shock evident.
Ethan merely smirked.
He had manifested this dog based on the cartoon Tom and Jerry from his youth.
He recalled an episode featuring a tiny bulldog with teeth like industrial cutters that gave Tom a nightmare of a time.
Ethan had simply recreated that dog in an evolved form. That was all there was to it.
“That’s none of your business. Just tell me.”
“You are full of surprises. I really want to know how many surprises you can bring to us.”
The man then gestured toward a massive tower visible in the distance.
“That tower can produce pure mana nonstop. So we never run out of mana.”
Ethan triggered his fourth dimensional eyes, beginning a deep observation of its internal configuration.
Under his gaze, the tower dissolved into nothing more than a complex web of patterns.
He swept his hand once more.
In an instant, the patterns unraveled from one another before reassembling. This time, however, they grouped strictly by similarity.
Distinct sets of laws began to take shape individually.
Ethan could now perceive exactly how many laws were governing the tower’s function.
This was a technique Ethan had recently mastered while inside the time field.
Watching this, Yumiko’s mind went nearly blank with shock.
Such a feat should have been impossible. Yet, because Ethan could perceive the patterns of every law simultaneously, he made it a reality.
Ethan immediately began analyzing those specific laws.
He searched for any mechanism resembling a perpetual motion machine.
Was it truly possible to generate mana out of thin air?
After scrutinizing the laws, he concluded that there were no miraculous principles at work.
He waved his hand again.
This time, he reorganized the laws based on existence itself.
The laws comprising the tower were grouped together.
The laws of various objects and living entities were similarly categorized.
He sought to identify every presence within the structure and determine their roles.
He identified a total of 347 distinct combinations.
That indicated the tower currently housed 346 objects within its walls.
He then proceeded to inspect each combination one by one.
The answer revealed itself shortly after.
Hidden among the 346 objects was a living being. Judging by the sheer complexity of its essence, it was at least a tier 10 entity—or perhaps a fragment of one.
He could have achieved this by expanding his mental domain, but a barrier was interfering with his senses.
His direct vision could not penetrate the tower.
However, this method of law pattern analysis was something that could not be blocked by any means.
“They are using the part of a tier 10 being to produce mana constantly? Damn. Their roots are really deep,” he mused.
“Hey brat, why are you in a daze? Has your puny mind been blown away by the grandiose of the organisation? It’s nothing. Once you meet one of the generals, you will see how supreme they are,” the emissary boasted.
For some inexplicable reason, he felt a desperate need for Ethan’s validation.
Seeing the look of astonishment on Ethan’s face filled him with an immense sense of pride.
“Alright, stop bragging. I want to sleep. Where is my palace?” Ethan asked nonchalantly.
“Palace? Brat, even I live in a cave. You will need to create a house for you in this forest,” the man replied, looking at Ethan with sheer disdain.
Ethan was momentarily speechless and let out a heavy sigh.
For the sake of acquiring source energy, it seemed he would be forced to sleep outdoors.
He approached a tree, felled it with precision, and constructed a basic wooden cabin for himself.
“Alright. You can cultivate now. I’ll call you if you have any missions,” the emissary said before departing.
Ethan was now certain that this organisation was involved in the mana poisoning, or at the very least, possessed vital information about it.
However, it appeared he would need to ascend to the higher realm to uncover the full truth.
That could wait. His first priority was meeting the leadership within this lower realm.
Occasionally, the supreme leader of an organisation enjoyed playing the pig to eat the tiger, choosing to live in squalor.
Ethan decided to wait a while. If they truly proved to be linked to the mana poisoning, he would launch a direct assault.
Ethan then developed a skill that rendered him invisible—a technique so advanced that no one below a 12th dimensional being could detect him.
He intended to scout that tower.
Once the skill was active, he vanished entirely from sight.
He then teleported directly to the base of the tower.
The structure lacked any visible entrance; it was hermetically sealed from all sides.
Yet Ethan knew an opening had to exist. They would need a way to enter the tower periodically.
He returned his focus to the structural laws of the building.
Before long, he pinpointed the specific law pattern responsible for opening and closing the seal.
“If only I could manipulate the pattern,” Ethan sighed.
But he was Ethan, after all.
He performed a meticulous, hair-splitting analysis of the patterns to master their logic.
And soon—
“Bingo!” He had decoded the pattern's function.
The seal would only respond to a specific recognized law pattern.
Armed with the exact requirements, he could easily forge a key. While he couldn't change how the tower worked, he could certainly replicate the pattern needed to unlock it.
“I am a bonafide goblin now,” Ethan muttered, unable to suppress a creepy grin.
“Creation.”
A card materialized in his palm.
“Alohomora.”
He whispered the Harry Potter incantation just for his own amusement.
The moment the card made contact with the tower, the seal began to crack open slightly.
He instantly shrank himself to the size of a particle, slipped through the narrow gap, and retrieved the card.
The minor disturbance went completely unnoticed.
Returning to his original size, Ethan was struck with amazement.
He saw something held fast by chains of laws and other restraints.
It was a liver—a massive liver the size of a vehicle.
Mana was being pumped out of it incessantly.
“Appraisal.”
[Name: Liver of Orion]
“Hey Will, do you know any being named Orion?” he asked the Will of the world directly.
A faint, weak voice responded.
“Yes sir. Orion is the first existence born in me and also the guardian beast. Please sir, don’t harm it if it does anything rude. I can’t communicate with it, but if you let me talk to it, I am sure it will know its mistake.”
Ethan finally understood the source of the mana.
They were harvesting the world’s guardian beast. It was incredibly cruel.
Still, he refrained from passing judgment immediately. He wanted to hear the organisation's side of the story.
Leaving the tower, he returned to his quarters.
However, he deliberately left behind traces of his presence to signal that an intruder had been there.
This would force them to launch an investigation.
That would be his chance to see their high-ranking officials.
The following day.
The entire inner region was thrown into a state of chaos.
The breach had been discovered, and every entrance and exit to the inner region was now under total lockdown.
