MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 920: Kinetic Reversal
Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
As Kingsley sliced through the atmosphere, Aura Nova closed the gap in a mere heartbeat. Her leg swept toward the heavens before descending with the devastating weight of a collapsing star, her lethal intent aimed directly at Kingsley’s throat. His response was instantaneous. With a single hand, he parried the strike, shifting its path with terrifying accuracy. In midair, his form recalibrated at once, remaining steady as if the laws of gravity no longer applied to him.
’She managed to redirect my blow,’ Kingsley mused, his golden eyes narrowing slightly. ’I might need to unveil something new.’ Rather than being concerned, he found the situation entertaining; a subtle smirk played on his lips as he relished the escalating intensity of the fight.
Suddenly, he launched a punch toward Aura Nova’s head. Though she reacted instantly to evade, a massive impact erupted against her temples a split second later. Her head snapped to the side as she was sent plummeting toward the earth. The ground shattered upon her arrival, her body carving a jagged trench through the bedrock. Amidst the rising geyser of dust and stone, Aura Nova stood up immediately, appearing completely unfazed by the destruction she had just caused.
Her blue eyes swept upward, only to find a kick already descending toward her chest. This time, Aura Nova didn't gamble on a simple dodge. Activating her Omniedit ability, she vanished from existence, reappearing an entire kilometer away. However, the very moment she materialized, a titanic force detonated against her sternum with the explosive power of a cannon.
She was sent reeling backward once more, losing all control in the air as agony flared through her mind and body. The atmosphere shrieked as she was hurled across the horizon.
’How is this happening?’ she wondered, struggling to grasp the logic. She had evaded the first strike, yet it had connected. She had warped a kilometer away for the second, yet the impact had followed her. It was a total defiance of space, logic, and the laws of causality.
But there was no time for contemplation.
Kingsley followed up with a colossal punch to her jaw. Her head was thrown back as her body was launched into the upper atmosphere, tearing through layers of clouds and parting the heavens themselves with the sheer violence of the hit.
The technique Kingsley employed was known as Perfect Intent Projection. It granted him the ability to land his blows regardless of physical distance or spatial barriers, making standard defense or evasion virtually useless. As long as his intent remained fixed on the target, the strike would inevitably find its mark.
Aura Nova regained her composure almost instantly, her brilliant mind already deconstructing the mechanics of Kingsley’s offense. Once again, she triggered her Omniedit ability. Her eyes glowed with a fierce light as she peered into the structure of Kingsley’s technique, dismantling its logic piece by piece.
Kingsley manifested out of thin air once more, his fingers clawing toward Aura Nova’s eyes. This time, however, she was prepared. Having analyzed the ability and traced its trajectory, she understood its core principle. Although she found she could not yet replicate it, she didn't need to. She jerked her head aside, cleanly dodging the physical strike while simultaneously erasing the projected impact that was meant to follow.
She struck back instantly, her fist surging toward Kingsley’s chest with crushing power. Kingsley didn't even flinch. He made no move to defend, simply staring down at the incoming fist with an indifferent gaze.
Before Aura Nova could understand the shift, her own strike collapsed inward upon her own chest with catastrophic force. The impact exploded like a dying star, blowing her off her feet. Her body shredded through the cloud layer as she was sent tumbling backward yet again.
’What is wrong with this monster?’ she cursed silently. She had just neutralized one of his powers, only for him to reveal another with effortless ease. To make matters worse, she couldn't comprehend how her own attack had been turned against her.
’And the feedback is twice as powerful as my original strike,’ she noted, wiping a trail of blood from her lip as her regeneration began its work. ’It’s like he’s become a completely different entity since entering that form.’ Despite the setback, she had already finished analyzing this second ability without needing to re-engage Omniedit.
Kingsley’s second ability permitted him to reflect any physical strike directed at him without moving or making contact. Even more lethal was the fact that the reflected energy returned with double the initial potency.
’And that movement of his...’ Aura Nova thought. Before the thought could fully form, Kingsley was already looming beside her, his speed having increased significantly as space itself seemed to warp to facilitate his arrival.
As soon as she spoke, time ground to a dead halt. The universe froze in a state of absolute stasis, leaving Kingsley suspended like a statue trapped in the fabric of reality. Aura Nova moved at once, preparing a non-physical strike. She realized now that physical force was useless against him.
Then, the impossible occurred.
Kingsley moved.
His elbow slammed into Aura Nova’s jaw with world-ending force. Her consciousness flickered, her mind fighting a desperate battle against the encroaching darkness. She was sent crashing back to the world below, obliterating a forest canopy before cratering into the dirt.
Aura Nova lay in the wreckage, stunned.
She couldn't wrap her head around it. She had stopped time, yet he had broken through. If her opponent had been Aaaninja, it would make sense. But Kingsley?
She looked up once more.
Kingsley was already there, standing over her broken form, looking down as though he were a deity observing a mere insect.
"Surrender," Kingsley commanded in a level voice. "I have no desire to play more of my cards."
Aura Nova remained silent. Never in her existence had she been so utterly dominated. Battles usually ended the moment they began for her. Even her time-stop was an absolute win condition—until now. Now, it was worthless.
Kingsley raised an eyebrow as he felt the shift in the mana around her. "This will only end poorly for you," he sighed.
He saw through her weakness clearly. She had been born with such overwhelming power that everyone else was beneath her notice. She had never known struggle or the need to adapt. Consequently, when faced with a true peer, she lacked the experience to maintain her dominance.
Nevertheless, Kingsley could see her evolving. She was learning and adapting in the heat of the conflict.
To him, it didn't change the outcome.
He still held a staggering number of trump cards that had never seen the light of day since the universe had granted him his blessings.
Aura Nova, he decided, would serve as an excellent test subject.
