MIGHT AS WELL BE OP Chapter 1023: Vita Energy
Previously on MIGHT AS WELL BE OP...
The other nineteen Angels stood frozen, struck by a mixture of shock and disbelief as Irene demonstrated the lethal nature of her abilities once more. They were utterly unable to grasp how she had managed to slay one of their own; it defied their collective comprehension.
This feat was accomplished through a unique battle technique she had crafted herself.
Known far and wide as the greatest healer across multiple races, Crimson Irene possessed an intimate understanding of the physical form and its intricate operations. It was an absolute truth that a healer could never achieve the pinnacle of their art without first mastering the very anatomy they sought to mend.
The emerald luminescence radiating from her fingertips when she struck the Angel was her innate Vita Energy, an essential manifestation of her class. She had chosen the name Vita over Vitality, finding the latter far too pedestrian and lacking in creativity.
This Vita Energy allowed her to perform feats of healing that were beyond the wildest dreams of even the greatest geniuses. By the same token, with her mastery, the transition from life-giving touch to a single, fatal blow was effortless.
This terrifying duality was the primary reason beings like the Supreme Monarchs avoided conflict with one another; they understood this grim reality only too well. It was a truth that applied not just to Crimson Irene, but to any healer who had ascended to such rarefied heights.
After all, no Mana Ranker at the peak of their cultivation would willingly expose their body to an enemy healer. What if they planted a hidden malaise? The list of potential hazards was endless.
Yet, the Supreme Monarchs recognized they had no other options. Their supplies of healing potions and resources were finite. If they became too paranoid to use them, they would be defenseless in major battles or emergencies where Crimson Irene might be absent, leading to lasting injuries that would inevitably result in a decline in their combat prowess or even a loss of their mana rank.
The most chilling aspect of Irene's Vita Energy was her ability to bypass conventional defenses. The fallen Angel had shielded himself with Faith Energy, yet Irene’s Vita Energy had simply ignored it as if it were nothing.
As she prepared to strike again, her movement suddenly slowed, her agility reduced to that of an ordinary mortal. She immediately deduced that a debuff had been cast upon her. Almost instantly, a massive hammer tore through the cosmic barriers and swung violently toward her ribs.
Irene bit her lip. Her teleportation skill was still on a three-second cooldown, with only two seconds having passed since her last usage. She poured every scrap of her mana into fortifying her defenses.
With bone-shattering force, the hammer, imbued with immense Faith Energy, slammed into her flank. The resulting sound echoed through the void like the thunderous boom of a war drum.
Her mana shield disintegrated under the pressure, far too weak to withstand such a blow. The hammer bit deep into her ribs, the sickening crunch of breaking bone and rupturing flesh ringing out like a brutal, discordant symphony. She was sent hurtling backward with incredible, jarring momentum.
Agony flared through her mind, not merely physical, but striking at the very fabric of her essence. The Faith Energy from the hammer’s impact was wreaking havoc from within, eating away at her core. Her body smashed into a nearby planet with such velocity that the celestial body imploded upon impact.
She continued to drift into a star, which fractured under the force of the collision. Every fiber of her being screamed in protest. Though she was desperate to cry out, she bit down hard on her lip, forcing the sound to die in her throat, refusing to yield to the overwhelming sensation of pain.
Her innate regeneration triggered, knitting her wounds together rapidly. She channeled her Vita Energy to stabilize her core, swiftly erasing the damage to her essence.
However, Irene understood that more devastating attacks were coming. With her relatively low tolerance for agony compared to seasoned veterans, she worried she might pass out before she could even react to the next assault.
She took decisive action. Her Vita Energy surged into her brain, systematically disabling the parietal lobe responsible for localized pain, the insula tied to emotional anguish, and the thalamus, which acted as the relay hub for pain signals.
With these segments neutralized, the immediate issue of her distraction was resolved.
This did not mean she was oblivious to her injuries, however. Her Vita Energy acted as a sensory extension, detecting any damage to her physical form or essence the moment it occurred. She no longer required the sensation of pain to understand she was being struck.
Before she could recover from the star, another Angel moved. The assailant struck a nearby sun with her armored boot, wielding power that defied logic. With terrifying ease, the celestial sphere was dislodged from its orbit, hurtling toward Irene like a soccer ball kicked across a dark, cosmic pitch.
