Longevity, starting from being a chicken raising servant Chapter 2453: 220: Why Rush to Harm Each Other?

~4 minute read · 1,062 words

Atop Mount Sumeru.

Near the Perfume Sea.

A pair of elderly monks who looked exactly alike stood in opposition—one hovering in the air, the other rooted to the earth; one displaying a stern expression and heavy solemnity, while the other grinned easily, relaxed and at ease.

Numerous monk silhouettes rapidly approached from all sides, each one stunned and bewildered at the sight of these two confronting elders:

“How can there be two Buddha Lords?!”

Yet Yan Poluo and a handful of others, catching sight of the elder monk by the Perfume Sea, suddenly felt their hearts plummet:

“He hasn’t left…”

Kong Zen landed next to Wang Ba and took in the unfolding scene, his inner shock surging without reason.

“What’s happening here?”

Though he had picked up on some of Wang Ba’s inner speculations, the presence of this elder monk prompted him to voice his confusion.

Wang Ba’s mind weighed down heavily as he fixed his gaze on the elder monk who stood composed and solitary beside the Perfume Sea, encircled by the assembling monks, waves of unparalleled dread pounding relentlessly through his thoughts!

Tianshang Buddha Lord!

He had the audacity to arrive solo!

Even more alarming, as per Buddha Tianyin’s account, Tianshang Buddha Lord and Tianyin maintained a bond of primary form and manifestation, much like the link between him and Kong Zen!

And above all, Buddha Tianyin, akin to Kong Zen, appeared to serve as the manifestation rather than the core essence…

This realization sent a shiver racing through him.

A manifestation arises from its origin; though they seem distinct, they form a single whole. That explained why Wang Ba never fretted over Chong Hua or Kong Zen acting wildly.

Following this logic, should Buddha Tianyin truly be a manifestation of Tianshang Buddha Lord, it implied that Buddha Tianyin remained under his command.

Should Buddha Tianyin align with Tianshang Buddha Lord as well…

“I never imagined you’d still identify my authentic form. I figured after you banished me from this domain long ago, you’d have forgotten who I am.”

By the Perfume Sea, the elder in yellow robes tilted his head upward slightly, allowing his robes to billow gently, paying no heed to the monks swarming nearby, his eyes locked entirely on Buddha Tianyin as he uttered words that left every monk dumbfounded—yet his face stayed serene with a subtle smile, his voice laced with a touch of mockery.

He made no moves, emitted no overwhelming pressure. Simply positioned there, he resembled a commonplace elder monk, but he had the surrounding monks instinctively dimming their auras, and even now, none ventured to probe his background.

Not even Yan Poluo, teetering on the brink of Mahayana, uttered a word.

Up in the sky, Buddha Tianyin drooped his eyelids, pressed his palms in prayer, and murmured the Buddha’s invocation softly:

“Amitabha.”

“The bygone era can’t be altered, yet the days ahead remain ours to shape.”

“Having ascended to Supreme True Buddha and claimed the mantle of Tianshang Buddha Lord, you’ve had endless chances to realize your ambitions. Why circle back to stir up chaos and wrongdoing?”

At Buddha Tianyin’s declaration, the encircling monks, ignorant of the full story, couldn’t resist glancing at the elder so akin to Buddha Tianyin, their gazes brimming with alarm:

“He—he’s Tianshang Buddha Lord?!”

Yan Poluo and his companions wore grave looks, though surprise barely flickered.

Despite the long-held suspicions, this affirmation from Buddha Tianyin still caused Wang Ba and Kong Zen’s hearts to drop further.

“You remain just as obstinate as ever, Tianyin.”

The elder by the Perfume Sea gave a soft chuckle and a shake of his head at those remarks:

“Who claimed I intend to sow sins?”

With those words, he gradually lifted off the ground.

Buddha Tianyin raised his eyes with a trace of uncertainty, fixing them on the elder:

“What are your intentions?”

The elder’s grin slowly dissolved as he countered:

“We stem from the same source, our thoughts intertwined—do you truly remain unaware of my aims?”

Then, as if struck by insight:

“Ah, right—you feared I’d glimpse your mind, so during our split, you severed our bond… Still, with all my former recollections at your disposal, surely you can surmise something?”

Buddha Tianyin’s eyes narrowed faintly, his features growing increasingly grave:

“You’ve returned for me?”

These words drew an amused clap and light laughter from the elder:

“Excellent!”

“As expected, you grasp me like no other!”

“After our parting across millennia, the moment has arrived to reunite as one. I realize you’ve sought to evade me, even pondered entering Nirvana to escape, but how could you fool me?”

“My original scheme was to subdue the three outer Domains sequentially before seeking you out, yet your sudden emergence last time caught me off guard—such an uncharacteristic move from you…”

Nearby, Wang Ba’s core trembled.

“From the outset, the Supreme True Buddha targeted the Eastern Luli Buddha Realm?!”

He had earlier puzzled over why, following the conquest of Canlong Realm and Void Demon Realm, the Supreme True Buddha had only assailed the Cloud Sky Realm while displaying no designs on the Eastern Luli Buddha Realm.

Back then, it seemed like deference to their shared Buddhist roots or mere prudence, but who knew this lay behind it.

Buddha Tianyin’s expression hardened as he regarded his counterpart, declaring in a weighty voice:

“Tianshang! With your present realm and Cultivation Base, few across the entire Realm Sea could rival you. Why persist in this defiant path? You practice Mahayana Buddhism—must you unleash vast calamities and ordeals? Remember, this Eastern Luli Buddha Realm is the very cradle that raised you!”

To their surprise, the facing elder shook his head emphatically, a trace of regret etching his features:

“No, no, utterly mistaken!”

“You’ve erred in far too many ways!”

“Tianyin, as my former self, it’s no shock you’re so limited in vision! Haven’t you realized that Mahayana Buddhism embraces all sentient beings throughout the Realm Sea, not merely this single haven in the Glazed Buddha Realm?”

“Mahayana Buddhism demands no grand calamities or ordeals; it only strives to deliver supreme joy to every soul, a pursuit that naturally demands trials. Absent suffering, from whence arises true bliss?”
